What happens if you send mercenaries & then leave?

If you send mercenaries to attack someone (that deserves it of course) and then you leave the Freemode session to do a mission, etc, or you lose connection to the server, do the mercenaries still carry out their attack, or are you just out $7,500?

I've sent mercs on people who've left the session and received a call from Merryweather telling me they were successful.
My assumption is that another player may have killed them, but I don't know for certain.
(I don't like that players can kill the player you sent mercs on, and Merryweather takes the credit, keeping your $7500!)

In reverse, I got a message recently that "<player> has sent mercenaries to attack you" and then the entire lobby cleared out.
I was going to the airport and thought, "cool, no more mercen.... uh oh!" and there they were, two sets at once.
I kept killing them, but they kept coming, in what seemed like more hordes than normal.

I swear I remember this one time where I placed mercs on some dude who left and like minutes later I got the message they were successful

How long do the try killing you for or how many times do you have to kill them for them to stop? It seems inconsistent as to when they decide to give up.

Just shoot a rpg at your feet when they get close. Problem solved.

Finally re-obtained clean (no cigs/sodas/etc) the tan and green mercenary Mesas for both characters.

kind of fun killing the waves and the other player who sent them while making sure the dang Jeep is the exact condition you want it in.

OCD is real.

I second this. You die by your own hand and get the satisfaction of someone wasting 7.5k on you.

Defeating or escaping the mercenaries is no fun when whoever sent them gets a refund.

@OP if you leave the lobby the mercenaries will continue to chase the target but you won't get the refund if they fail. Same goes for the mugger.

Why wast ammo? Just drive into one of your garages or something and drive out and they are no longer after you.

Suicide is cheap and only costs one block of C4. Great savings and no more horny Merryweather scrubs trying to skull f*ck you.

Why not just let them kill you? It's free, and the guy still wastes 7500.

Idk. something something about me getting raped by merryweather bugs the crap out of me. It just doesn't feel right. Especially when start cat calling you like you are some kind of hoebag.

What makes you think you can't keep battling? Drive in and drive right back out and go to war with him. I have done it many times. It's better than killing yourself

Agree to disagree.

Na Suicide is what the guy wants. As long as you die he gets what he wants don't matter if Merryweather does you in or yourself.

truffleshuffle03

He only wants you to die if it's by his hands.

If that was true he would not call in mercs. Most people who call in mercs do not know if the mercs killed them or if they die by killing their self because all the person who sent the mercs see is that the mercs killed you even if you suicide. For them, that is a win-win in their books because you either were killed by the mercs or you killed yourself and that is all they want.

I am pretty sure you lose the money and nothing happens with the mercs. I am not 100% but I know that just goofing around with my friends and calling muggers and stuff and If I get lagged out of the server before the mugger gets them he disappears. I have never had a mugger get any one of my friends if I get lagged out of the server and leave.

So it's worth driving back to one of your apartments just to save $500?

On a sidenote atleast the muggers are still active for sure. I killed a mugger the other day but it didnt say by whom he was sent. Only that he was after me. Im assuming the player wasnt in session any longer.

Also if you enter LSC while somesone sent mugger you might be attacked by several when you get back out. I had 3 muggers come after me and only the last gave me the confirmation message when I killed him.

If I send mercs it's only because someone annoyed me and I'm just doing a little something something to annoy them back. Usually put a bounty on them too. I don't care if it all works, I just want to say "here's a little dirt in your gears to slow down your progress, like you slowed down mine. :) "

My goal with mercs (that I haven't accomplished) is to call them on a player and then watch the player on tv in my apartment. I think the combination of doing things like sending mercs, watching players on tv, and recording video of it all on my xb1 is a new frontier for me I want to explore.

It's better than killing yourself. You can also drive into any LS custom shop as well. I mean what's the point of suicide and giving the guy what he wants? He does not know if you did not die by mercs as it only tells him the mercs killed you and that was the whole point of calling them on you which was for you to die one way or the other.

I don't think it works like that I have had it glitch out and not tell me how has mugged me before as well. The muggers can be glitchy at times. If you lag out or leave before the mugger gets the target the mugger disappears. I have had this happen multiple times where I call a mugger on a friend and I lag our or something before they get mugged and the muggers just is just gone. Also, I have had friends send muggers on people and then my friend ends up lagged out before the mugger gets the target and I call a mugger almost as soon as my friend is gone from the server and you can only call a mugger if someone else is not using one at the time.

Calling Mercs should work like this...

1. Disables suicide

2. Mercs if get close to you knock you out, tie ur a$$ up, throw u in Mesa, and deliver u to said caller blindfolded and ritherings on pavement for execution.
