Feel you've been caught in a ban-wave unfairly? Large ban waves can usually catch strays, so check out the Rockstar Support form for ban appeals.

Still to this day I wonder why R* ported this game to PC if they are not able to do an proper anti cheat system, I bet they do not gonna solve this as they did NOT solve PS3 and Xbox360 modders.

There is actual money at stake this time.

This brings me back to freeze cars and my taser gun.

This time it could affect shark card sales.

Stuff like this brings the classic PC dilemma I faced back when switched to PC. I was aware of that kinf of BS and decided not to transfer my main account (still not transferred). So, if play PC, should you play online and risk permanent ban, money loss or whatever or you could have almost all the stuff from MP in SP and forget about any money/ rank locks without any risks? But that's more a matter of your perception of gaming. I've got both X1S and decent enough PC to run it on ultra/high full hd, but I have noticed that I'm spending less actual playtime on PC. Why? Because I've got everything there: property (available from MP), cars, weapons and don't have assholes.

If you still need to go to public session for some reason, here is my quick and dirty guide on how to spot a hacker

When you enter a session, go to menu -> online -> players and quickly scan all the users for the following signs:

- High K/D ratio

- High level + No crew

- Low shooting skill + relatively high K/D ratio

- Naming patterns like.. some generic word ("user", "player", "member", "id") + number

If you see anything like this, don't take a risk and quit the session.

If you are not sure, try to highlight a suspicious player - hackers are used to be constantly off-the-radar.

Don't focus on level only. Level doesn't mean anything.

Discord were mentioned in this topic, I heard it was a reason to be banned as well, because the anticheat gets triggered at this.

That's old news and was never proven.

It was thought previously banned members were being detected again as the Discord was using a port that was used by a mod menu, but nothing was confirmed and it no longer happens.

I've been using Discord on GTA: Online for over a year now, haven't had any issues whatsoever...and neither has anyone I've played with.

I think the only issue is if you happen to have the in game overlay for Discord active,...but that could just be a false rumour as well.

The chances of Discord causing bans is highly unlikely.

oh man , I mean we all know about hackers & modders in this game , but this has to be the most "dangerous"and the nastiest thing they could do to you , since I first joined GTA on PC actually...

I´m now a bit scared of playing the game ... joining invite only or lagged out lobbies is a way to avoid hackers , but that is not a long term solution , R* have to solve this problem very soon... because I like racing and stuff ...

Sh*t really? I was told that spending the money was my best bet because millions in my cash/bank would be a red flag

Nope, whoever told you that was talking porkies. R* don't want you having the money period. Spending it will get you flagged. What you should of done is, left it, opened a ticket on the support pages and asked for it to be removed.

Spending it just gives them an excuse to punish you for it - R* are not known for being understanding or caring when it comes to hacked cash.

f*ck. You think I should just wait and hope they don't notice or should I make a ticket with them?

Hard to say, I mean, I've had friends get modded money and nothing ever happens...but considering you've spent the modded money, I don't know what Rockstar would do if you filed a support ticket...they might just remove the stuff you bought with said money? or they might do something more drastic...it's unknown, really.

I know... I mean, to be honest, I was given hacker money in the past that I spent and nothing happened, but this time it was millions! Guess I'll just wait and hope nothing happens :(

^^ go ahead and log on its not that bad. Worse is you have a cone on top of ur head.

Personally I'd like confirmation that R* can restore affected characters stats to their original condition (especially rank) before I go anywhere near a public lobby.

A couple of weeks back I was in a public lobby alone doing some ceo stuff. Another player joined and as I was in the middle of a fight with npcs I didn't notice immediately. Before I realise I suddenly had a large orange ball attached to me by the kid with a mod menu. As I could get in a car still I finished my mission quietly and said nothing as a big "4uck you", and he left. Logged off and on again, orange ball gone. Slightly irritating but no harm done.

If this troll with a mod menu had the ability to boost my rank to 8,000 and drain my bank balance I would have been able to do nothing about it.

Sounds like my PS3 days but worse.

For realz, I'd sue R* or @ least call Sal & better business bureau about it cuz $60 spent for a copy on PC, then bump it up to $6,000,000 for pain and suffering.

Damn, feel for the PC crowd.

Shame on R* for lettings this happen.

This sucks!

I have a large crate warehouse I need to sell and I like selling in packed full sessions on PC, I need that 2.5-2.6M not just 2M selling in an empty session.

Selling in an empty lobby is 2,2m.

GTA Online is really pathetic on PC. I don't understand how people can still play there, worse than PS3.

Any platform is full of dickheads, if not cheaters it would be jet griefers, guns in passive glitches, teleport glitch and more other ways to ruin your gaming expirience. People will ALWAYS try to f*ck you up you know ? Platform doesnt really matter.

No. Yes it matters. In PS4 of course you can find an asshole doing glitches, but you can count them with fingers of one hand. On PC it's a hell, I have friends on PC who say it sucks, and you just have to look at Rockstar support to see that GTA Online on PC is absolute sh*t. I couldn't play quietly in the free modeon PS3 because of the damn modders, But I'm sure I would never play on PC, not only can they bother you, they can f*ck your life.

Look what is happening in PC: bans, money and level that give you without your consent, car insurance and passive deaths fraud and more... This doesn't happen on PS4. This is very serious. In PS4 you can buy a Shark card with real money and the money is only going to spend by you. On PC modders can steal real money between with things like Fun said. Rockstar can't solve this, and will never be able to, because GTA Online on PC is already lost. It's clear Rockstar is trying, but it's an absolute waste of time. That's why I'm glad that RDR2 doesn't come out on PC so that they can pay full attention on platforms where nothing serious happens like on PC.

A disturbing time for some... This better not make its way to PS4...

@ flexcreator... I resent that!!!... I'm rank 531 presently... I have no crew, haven't since I did that one job to get a trophy when I created my account...

High rank AND low crew rank, I can agree on... But many are solo/won't join crews... Many crews split up over the years too... By your standards I cheat/mod... Wrong!

The rest of what you put, is fairly obvious too..

I think the platform elitism together with fatalism is a problematic issue and PS4 still has its downsides compared to PC, as much as vice versa.

Also we are still able to create empty lobbies. A really dumb move from Rockstar would be to force the player to be able to initiate CEO, Bikers and future Gunrunner to be played ONLY with other players in the public lobby or implement autoban algorithm for repeated disconnections.

Rockstar are working on a fix apparently, lets hope they get that done quickly.

Also, of course MrClickbaitForTheLose covered this in his usual long drawn out way.

Probably most of kids already plaguing people with the mod menu are his subscribers.

AFAIK the problem is not necessarily Rockstar's failure to make a decent anti-hack, it the way they made the game to work mainly client-side, this makes it almost impossible to make a good anti-hack because they would need to re-make the entire game.

Not a fix; just another temporary "hand slap" leading to a temporary delay.

Few things have genuinely been fixed in this game--especially on the PC. If that wasn't true, we wouldn't be where we are right now.

R* code (old and new) and their epic fail decision to use Peer-to-Peer continues creating new avenues for exploration by the haxholes.

Also, of course MrClickbaitForTheLose covered this in his usual long drawn out way.

And unless he got spanked for it and didn't tell us about it, R* are hypocrites. They literally keep turning a "blind eye" to him and anyone else on YouTube with a big enough GTAO audience, in spite of their own cheating:

This is really no place for platform fanboyism.

There have been hacks ever since I started online gaming in every fps / third person shooter I've ever played. I also remember hacks when I was on the PS3, with characters at level 999 before anyone could realistically reach that level - and crucially before the PC version existed.

This specific problem may currently be on the PC but whatever the origin history shows these will spread to all platforms if R* can't shut it down.

The reason it's more aggressive now IMHO is micro transactions. Instead of spending their time cracking and selling pirate copies of paid for DLC, the same hackers are now spending their time making mod menus instead. It Shark cards didn't exist they'd make far less money from selling this malware, and wouldn't be able to justify the time in repeatedly beating each new counter measure.

^^ Yes, there are hax in games--even TF2 with Valve's VAC--and heck, even World of Tanks and early access games like PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds.

The difference is that (if I understand the situation correctly) most game developers started with a better structure, and are thus actually able to keep tighter reins on them than what R* chose to do in GTA Online from day one.

Happened to this poor guy during a live stream (42 minutes in)!

He even mentions that some of the money he had removed, was paid for with real cash, and he's in bad sport for 4 days.

fantastic function, buy more cash card

I don't know why you guys from PC still bother with the sh*tshow of modders that is this game...

Dont have a current gen console and never will, and fair truth is that i am currently waiting for pc to be just given up, learn about modding myself, and mod the game to my liking unpunished.

Fair enough, as long as you only use mods in closed sessions or single player, then mod the game to your heart's content.

Say what you want about consoles having worse hardware, not having mods and not giving a 60 fps experience for this game, but atleast I can safely turn on my console and play the without being worried about losing my money, vehicles, stats, properties, weapons and have a naked bald man attach to my rear...

...Plus playing with the good folks from here can be very fun :)

Yes I'd agree with that. But as above I also think hackers are more incentivised with GTO financially - people are more likely to pay for a mod as an alternative to shark cards, and the size of the player base is a factor.
