Update 15 March 2023 16:11 UK:

The bounty spam is not a hack or a remote exploit of any sort and your account is not compromised, nor you are actually losing money, it's someone messing around with a non-destructive online services endpoint (Inbox.asmx).

There is no escalation to be made here, but it should be fixed so random people can't send random bounties via this service. Plus, now that one person has done it, anyone with knowledge of the online services can have the same idea...

It's just annoying, and not an actual hack, much like the original ballstorture invite spam. You cannot be banned for this, especially as the bounty messages expire after a while.

Technical explanation with example of output

A workaround for this until something is done on the services side is going to the Pause Menu -> Settings -> Notifications -> Message Frequency: 1 Hour. This won't stop it completely but you will only get it once every hour.

I've tried blocking UDP 6672 both inbound and outbound using Windows Firewall, but it doesn't work. I still end up in a populated session.

People tell it's only the first session that will be populated. Did you try to switch sessions?

Thanks for responding, no unfortunately switching sessions doesn't make a difference (not when using "Find new session" in the main menu anyway).

My suspicion is McAfee is overriding the settings - although I turned it's firewall off. Any suggestions?

NL allows you to join an initial Online session already empty. It takes like 4-5 min to load Online(from story mode), but its effective if your goal its to absolutly avoid any potential script kiddie.

Personnally I prefere to join a full crowded initial session then use "Kill Connections", because loading time is normal then it takes like 15 secondes to lag out.

PS: I'm not a NL employee just in case you're wondering.

Hm, this may sound stupid, but have you checked if the rules of inbound and outbound traffics are actually active?

I made that mistake myself.

Have you tried enabling the rule whilst ingame? That always works for me if I decide I'd like to do some ceo work alone. I just alt/tab & enable the rule and everyone else's blips freeze and everyone leaves within 30 seconds.

Did you follow this method http://imgur.com/a/3ju3z maybe you missed a step.

Followed those steps exactly. Not tried it in game I've always launched with it already active. Alt-tabbing I find causes my FPS to drop drastically on return (game lags), so I avoid it.

The are definitely active. Best guess at the moment is McAfee is still overriding the rule, even though I've turned it's firewall off. I've applied the rule to GTAV.exe, not the launcher. I'm assuming that's the correct way to do it.

Definetly a good news. I guess, if you wanted to sell cargo or do some stuff in public sessions - you have your window :)

I still would not risk it...

Probably new accounts are popping up faster then cockstar can ban them.

This is great. I guess I'll finally play in Freemode later today.

1 user said he removed the files from his gta5 folder and still got hammered. I guess R* finally figured something out.

Bunch of losers who want to boost their ego by cheating in a video game. Grammar on their forum is on tier level sh*t (that's even worse than me) so I guess most of them are kids. Oh and one of their admins is attention whoring qt 3.14 who uses .gif image instead of .jpg wasting my precious internet bandwidth, all because she wants to do some sh*tty smiles. Pretty pathetic.

I love reading forums like this after ban waves. It keeps me up at night that retards like them get banned. I wish Rockstar would just sue them like Blizzard does.

If you are reffering to Jsalva, it's NOT her image. It's the

of the actress (blogger?) Emily Rudd.

Can the force menu force you to do this cutscene animation? If yes, it could...perhaps spark a public outrage among liberal groups.

"Cheat tool users forces you to do Nazi salute!"

Now if that doesn't make Rockstar eject their coffee out of their noses i don't know.

I can't test it, since the menu is disabled for now.

Pretty sure it can't.

Don't think it will lead to anything productive

Rockstar did officially address it, but it hasn't been updated in almost a month. One thing you have to consider is that there are far more players on the PS4 and Xbox One combined than on the PC. PS3 and Xbox 360 are technically not supported any longer. So, the majority of players that are playing the versions which are still getting updates are not seeing any of these problems.

Or there's another menu responsible as from what flexcreator said it sounds like the force menu is shut down by its own creators and it's users are getting whacked by the ban hammer. :miranda:

Anyway, if it helps anyone else I figured out why my attempt to get a public lobby on my own using the windows firewall method didn't work - as suspected it's my copy of McAfee overriding it - and it will do so even if you turn it's firewall off. It can however be used to set up a rule there, which works like a charm. I was straight into my own personal public session first time of trying.

Dead easy to set up (or would be if McAfee's clunky interface was a bit more intuitive):

1) Go to the firewall settings

2) Ports and system services

3) Click add, fill in a service name of your choosing.

4) Under local UDP ports, enter 6672.

5) Click save (all other fields can be left blank).

6) If you check the box for that service (which will have appeared in the Ports and system services list with the name you added in step 3) now the port will be open and you can join other players, if you un-check it, it's closed and you'll get your own public lobby.

Annoyingly it seems I can't stop specific programs using a specific port with McAfee which wasted a load of my time trying to find functionality which doesn't exist - I can either block GTA V from accessing the internet altogether (which would mean no online at all), or block UDP 6672 altogether (which does the job).
