Im just thinking out loud here.

If I buy a shark card and a mod meny user make me lose all the shark money and R* just sitting on their hands. Dont they obstruct the justice? Or they aiding the criminal for not implementing safeguards?

 

Isnt this issue why we not have casino?

I do believe that would strongly depend on which country you live in. While I have not heard about any specific Sharkd Cards being the subject of legal complaints, it has happened in my country that players have successfully had their virtual currency either refunded or restored. But this is a one of a kind situation, as the country I live in (Norway) have exceptionally strong consumer rights, and the rights do not differentiate between various types of products. The only thing I can think about if one were to demand a refund on virtual currency, in this case Shark Cards, would be to contact one`s country`s consumer council, or whatever it is called in individual countries, and file a formal legal complaint that way. Though it is uncommon for virtual currency cases to arise in the first place, there have been players who have successfully done it, so Rockstar is not as protected as they might think.

I'm not talking about shark cards but the money you receive when buying them.

Yeah I was sent over this changelog from that terribly cancerous menu. Public sessions definitely aren't safe and if GunRunning isn't coming until June, well perhaps it may be better to put this game back on the shelf for the time being.

Legacy is the 100$ purchase tier I believe (yeah people will literally pay 100 f*cking dollars to cheat in a game. Pretty f*cking pathetic right?)

 

And remote is things they can do without needing access to your account. Drain money,add cash,increase or decrease rank etc. Before this they needed access to your account to do that.

Well... new menu update

Now they can send you to flight school,send you to gtao tutorial,make you reload session,spam you with error screens (transaction failed), hide your rank bar,make you play tennis with bounty player,send you to warehouse,force Lamar to call you,"f*ck his game" option which disables weapon wheel map and more, sound spam (I'm guessing it spams annoying loud noises only you can hear) and break his game which they didn't show.

 

This is so f*cked, what a bunch of f*cking pathetic basement dwellers, I can't wait till Take Two smothers them with a pillow in court and can rockstar please f*cking hurry and fix this sh*t? It's been literally two whole f*cking weeks now since I've last touched a public lobby because of this sh*t. FIX. IT.

Hate to say it, but all evidence points to the fact that R* really doesn't care. Especially if Yan2295 is right about even less people/resources being allocated to GTA Online than ever before.

 

In a reverse psychology kind of way, I hope that GTA Online goes down in flames--on all three platforms--only because that's THE ONLY WAY R* and their profit-obsessed parent company Take Two are going to learn.

 

They've let their greed for profit stomp all over both the short- and long-term quality not only of the code, but game play and security. Not to mention virtually zero reinvestment to refresh a now completely stagnant map/world.

 

As good as it still might be (sans cheaters) GTA Online could have been a far, far better and deeper gaming experience. The original vision of what it was supposed to be has been replaced with a "stagnate and siphon money as long as you can" mentality...a lot like what Mehdi Ali and Irving Gould did to the Amiga years ago.

It's going to happen. Eventually the ps4 and xb1 will get their mod menu. That'll hurt R* the most and their LIVE streams.

 

Gta6 better have dedicated server and a solid anti cheat system.

 

Wrong there will not be hackers on PS4/Xbox1 until they are the main consoles. Like i said a few pages back. The monthly free that console players pay is what makes all games on console safe it acts like an anti-cheat that is why rockstar made online p2p and they will do the same for rdr2. It is just more cost effective + dedicated servers are not needed when you already have the protection in place. That is not the case for PC and so this is the reason for Online being what it is today. I am 95% sure the game will never be cheater free.

As far as I know from previous cases, if we buy a shark card and lose the money because of some idiotic hacker, Rockstar will either have to restore the lost virtual currency (a.k.a ingame money) or they will have to refund the price we paid for the shark card. The only catch about this though is that I am not sure if this applies in other countries than my own, as Norway do have some exceptionally well rounded consumer rights.

 

 

 

As far as going to the police goes I am not sure. In my country we got a governmental body whose sole purpose is to assist consumers in feuds they may have with companies such as Rockstar, so for me, if I were to make a legal complaint, I would go through them first. But yes, Rockstar would be required to assist the police, and in my country, the governmental body who regulates the norwegian market. Like I mentioned in my previous post, Rockstar have not been subject to this process yet, but other gaming companies have faced this kind of complains which their players won, so it is very much possible to do the same with Rockstar.

Well they may not go down without a fight, but if a hacker really goes in for it there are nothing neither company can do to stop them. The problem with Xbox 1 and the ps4 have in fact become such a problem that in my country they warn players from inputting any credit card information or any information that matter. The reason is simple, hackers can and will access the consoles. And even if you buy everything from the psn membership to ingame currency in local stores to avoid giving your credit card information away, the console will still be riddled with personal information. And like with sea gulls, if one hacker makes a successful move, there will be more coming. And when the os is hacked, so will the games eventually.

So while the developers have never had such a pressure to keep the consoles safe, the hackers in turn have never had such lucrative values and info just waiting to be stolen. There is a reason why the government in my country have strongly advised owners of consoles to simply buy their psn memberships from Gamestop to avoid having the or credit card info stolen, and also why they recommend that one buy shark cards from the same retailer.

Anyone had experience running GTA under the Virtual Machine? For me it's like a slideshow. It would be nice to find a way to utilize the host GPU resources.

The method being used by cheaters can do more than that.

It's possible for them to mess with your CEO stats, deleting your office and warehouses and other stuff.

They can force you to join a Job and alot more.

See: the current state of multiplayer Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare for PS3 and Xbox 360. Broken as f*ck. Zombies in Free Roam that level a player up when you kill them, and they follow around players when they change sessions. So if you got a clean session, all it takes is one such player to join and then it's broken again. And it breaks the ability to call your horse. Not to mention, cheaters can use godmode and crash your console too.

Not according to what they say here. It is a general concern that they put forward on day 1 when the ps4 was released and which they have gone forth with in later years as well. I rather choose to go on what the experts say, and that is that one should avoid mentioning any credit card information unless it is absolutely necessary, and when the day comes for the console to be decommissioned, the hard drive should be removed and destroyed.

 

But for me, I play on the PC, so I do not really worry about this.

It took 'em like a week to patch the Infernus' left turn bug.

This started appearing like 2-3 weeks ago, and still no Title Update in sight.

 

Maybe they can implement a tracking system that tracks your movements or what you type in the chatbox.

And maybe archive and highlight the conversations that have "money" or "hacker" in them.

And closely examine the players in the conversation and their movements.

(yes, I'm asking R* to basically spy on every single one of us, because right now security > privacy).

 

I mean, is it possible from a developer's viewpoint? ?

Hard to look forward to Gunrunning when I know it'll only be safe to play for a couple of days maximum before the cheaters come back in full force. At least I'll still be able to play with the new toys in SP I guess.

Well the thing about that was the Devs implemented microtransactions in the game and downrating the game made them remove it.

 

Rockstar didn't implement the mod menu in the game and they're probably doing whatever they can to upgrade their anti-cheat (or at least, their PC division is).

It's not a good thing for both sides, okay. You will pay real money to the the scriptkid to drop fake millions on you and not pay R* for shark cards.

On the other hand, scriptkids have the power to mess with legit players' status, essentially getting them banned or worse, making them contact Rockstar Support, essentially making them do more work.

 

Hardly think mass negative reviews will help in any way (considering that with 187,025 reviews it's overall Very Positive and with 5,802 Recent reviews it's Mostly Positive)

Well it makes Rockstar's game look bad and drives away potential customers, and considering they aren't releasing much (besides the upcoming RDR 2 which won't be available on PC anyway), seeing a large part of their main income stream, GTAO, die off could be the wake-up call R* needs to start fixing it.

If they are actually doing the best they can to upgrade their anti-cheat (besides updating the tunables here and there) it's pretty damn late to be doing so.

People know the game and series by reputation. And won't look twice about the Mostly Positive reviews without buying it, even though you can buy retail or from Rockstar's warehouse (or for Social Club).

And ALL Steam "reviews" praise the singleplayer and bash the multiplayer.

 

And (yeah) with RDR2's primary goal and 2-week events instead of 1 I'd guess GTAO will not be the main focus and probably not be played that much further down the line, and the cancerous community is not helping with new members, so buying the game entitles you to the great singleplayer mode where you can f*ck around with trainers and mod menus (alone).
