Everyone is expecting a fix from Rockstar.

But remember that R* can't fix what they don't see. Most likely, they won't fix anything until they got a copy of the menu themselves.

Well, after read the replies here, and watching the trailer for the new hack menu, it looks like I won't be back in public lobbies any day soon. Not that this is a bad thing. Back before the hacks came and the lobbies were still decently clean it was I who used to crash the party by sticky bombing everyone. Oh how I miss that. But it's not worth taking the chance. And it is a shame as well because I put a lot of work into this game so I do hope that Rockstar will take action against the modders soon.

Now they can send you to flight school,send you to gtao tutorial,make you reload session,spam you with error screens (transaction failed), hide your rank bar,make you play tennis with bounty player,send you to warehouse,force Lamar to call you,"f*ck his game" option which disables weapon wheel map and more, sound spam (I'm guessing it spams annoying loud noises only you can hear) and break his game which they didn't show.

In a reverse psychology kind of way, I hope that GTA Online goes down in flames--on all three platforms--only because that's THE ONLY WAY R* and their profit-obsessed parent company Take Two are going to learn.

 

They've let their greed for profit stomp all over both the short- and long-term quality not only of the code, but game play and security. Not to mention virtually zero reinvestment to refresh a now completely stagnant map/world.

 

As good as it still might be (sans cheaters) GTA Online could have been a far, far better and deeper gaming experience. The original vision of what it was supposed to be has been replaced with a "stagnate and siphon money as long as you can" mentality...a lot like what Mehdi Ali and Irving Gould did to the Amiga years ago.

It's going to happen. Eventually the ps4 and xb1 will get their mod menu. That'll hurt R* the most and their LIVE streams.

 

Gta6 better have dedicated server and a solid anti cheat system.

Yeah I do agree on the greed part. Another significant factor that could topple Rockstar would be if their players starts buying their games from regions which grants them exceptionally well designed rights. Especially with the shark cards that Rockstar have been banging on us. One example of such a country would be Norway which is where we live. The laws are too complicated to list, but in shirt they say that if a manufacturer, in this case Rockstar, promises to give us something, than they have to deliver their promised services. It's a shame that Rockstar hides behind their money wall... Because as long as their shark cards sells and the sale of SC accounts are maintained, I doubt Rockstar will care about what their players say.

They did not "released" the hackers. The hackers and modders were there long before the GTA Online was even announced. For example, I know that the author of the Script Hook was modding other games.

 

They are not stupid enough to do it for a shark card sales. No one will ever buy a shark card after losing money this way.

I do believe that would strongly depend on which country you live in. While I have not heard about any specific Sharkd Cards being the subject of legal complaints, it has happened in my country that players have successfully had their virtual currency either refunded or restored. But this is a one of a kind situation, as the country I live in (Norway) have exceptionally strong consumer rights, and the rights do not differentiate between various types of products. The only thing I can think about if one were to demand a refund on virtual currency, in this case Shark Cards, would be to contact one`s country`s consumer council, or whatever it is called in individual countries, and file a formal legal complaint that way. Though it is uncommon for virtual currency cases to arise in the first place, there have been players who have successfully done it, so Rockstar is not as protected as they might think.

It was possible for them to edit your stats until two days ago when R* updated the Background script to patch it.

Don't worry, R* are aware of it.

Otherwise how do you think they are fighting those cheaters via the Background script to stop them from messing with your stats or increasing your RP/GTA$ ? Yes they aren't doing a great job because the problem is too huge for them to hotfix it.

Currently they are patching stuff only when the cheaters start using them.

Anyway I still recommend not playing on public lobbies.

I haven't played in a public lobby since all this mess started but I'd like to play with friends tonight and I'm wondering if playing in a public session and doing activities is safe or not...

There's only one way Rockstar could fix situation. They must lawsuit all people who stands behind mod menu project. Then scare people who are using mod menu by sending letters with warning. Those people gonna stop using mod menu or R could lawsuit or punish them in worse way than ban or account wipe.

Then why don't they just shutdown online completely for a few days so players won't be affected, mod menu losers stop making money temporarily and they have more time to fix this severe issue ugh. You'd think a huge triple A dev team would have an issue like this fixed in a timely manner instead of fixing little bits here and there.

 

Yeah I haven't touched a single public lobby since the hospital bill fraud and level change first became available.

 

Also I'm curious, can they not put in some sort of stat checker because the game uses that weird P2P mesh thing? Or is it totally possible but they haven't bothered doing it?

For example, periodically the game would check say the amount of money you have versus time played, and when it sees someone with 6 days of playtime who has hundreds of millions of dollars, it immediately suspends the account until its reviewed, and then banned or money removed.

Or level 50 but has 45k kills or a ridiculous KD like 183749.

No, public lobbies are still not safe at all. Please do not risk it. The things I mentioned are NEW features they have added to the menu, rp boosting and decreasing is still possible and I believe they can drain money again as well since there was an option in the menu that said "drain $$ (uses bounty amount)"

Yeah I was sent over this changelog from that terribly cancerous menu. Public sessions definitely aren't safe and if GunRunning isn't coming until June, well perhaps it may be better to put this game back on the shelf for the time being.
