That feature is form last-gen ?

Hospital Bill ?

They probably didn't cut it, and just deactivated it.

Modders are now reactivating it somehow.

Week-late reply, but... that feature never went away. It's still on current gen, you just don't see it anymore because it's incredibly hard to kill people in passive. The only way to do it that I know of is to crash a vehicle you just jumped out of into them. I paid someone's hospital bill a month or two ago because he was passive in a Hydra, paused and hovering so he could send me hatemail, and I floated above him in my own Hydra and jumped out so it would blow him up. (Yes, it was hilarious.)

Glad to see that you got your GTA$ back! Good stuff--and finally! Do you have to manually point them to how many hours are represented by your two chars (one is 400+ and the other 326)? Been playing since October 2014 on the PS3, then transferred to the PC; IIRC over 2,700 hours of game play combined.

BTW, under which category did you file for getting your lost GTA$ back? I ask, as I have been using "Other" since the "Lost items" category doesn't list "GTA$" or "money" as one of the items?

I wonder if this means that the issue(s) have been patched by R*? Surely they wouldn't start reimbursing GTA$ unless it was fixed?

Anyway, on the prodding of several people here (appreciate the "stick to it" reminder I needed--thanks guys) I have submitted a second ticket--again, with all screenshots and info, etc. And this time I've asked to be raised to Support Tier 2 if my GTA$ is erroneously listed again as "unverifiable".

I told them the truth that I have never "modded" in the game, and if they simply look at my record, they'll see that I have followed previous R* Support's instructions as to what to do (or not do) when modded money has been dropped on me.

What's the current status of things on PC? Are there still hacks disrupting gameplay, RP / $$$?

Are Contact Missions safe?

^Nothing is safe if you are doing any activity with another player.

I suggest to use the update_lsc's playlists for missions. You can do all the missions without other players joining. Set matchmaking to closed and start the playlist.

Once you done a single playlist, close the game completely instead of going to a public online session.

I'm also interested how situation looks like... I would like to grind some money by doing daily missions or do some MC / VIP stuff in public session (alone) without any risk of attack of hacker/modder

edit:

...

R* is a company. It's about business processes, not about "caring". Some employees may care and feel your pain, but "feeling the pain" alone usually don't solve problems.

Releasing such fixes in a rush will only make things worse.

^ No updates from R* so any of the updates here should be considered as personal experience based on perception, time and chance. Pretty much useless, if you would ask me. It's not safe until we're certain and there is a statement from R*. Not to mention these nice contact mission bonuses. And you can always grind some CEO stuff with blocked ports.

Good thing that contact missions work from invite only lobbies at least, especially with the sweet bonus cash and RP they have right now :p Haven't played since December and I was going to play a bit this last weekend but I kinda lost the urge to do so after all this modder/hacker crap. I did log on for a while just to check out a few lobbies and see if I could find any modders, but I didn't see anything strange. I think I'll stick to blocked ports or invite only anyways just to be sure.

Yeah, but today I was completely lost trying to find this "Invite Only" option. It seems they just rearranged the menu, it should be under the "Join GTA Online" submenu now

It does, but I don't know if GTAO as it is now is that potential, if I look to where GTAV multiplayer is actually popular right now it's with FiveM dedicated RP servers like State of Emergency, that stuff has really blown up on Twitch, which several big Twitch streamers like Lirik, Giantwaffle, Strippin, and Timmac, who play it nearly every day for thousands of viewers, viewers who also want to join in that fun, actually play a character, and actually be opposed by other players who play the cops.
Rockstar is apparently mad that these streamers are streaming a modded version of their game and they want Twitch to do something about it. I don't remember his exact name but 1 streamer they invited to their official Rockstar streams and have promoted for a long time now is also showcasing the modded game to others. These modded streams are now getting more views than Rockstar official live streams.

mute!, are you referring to XpertThief? I'd understand that after 3+ years of making videos on the game he would want to try something new. In my opinion, he's really good at roleplay.

I'm going to have to ask your sources on Rockstar wanting Twitch to do something about the roleplay streams. I do think FiveM is a bit shady. I've installed it, and they wanted my SC login and password before it could run. They claim it was to make sure that my copy of GTA V is legitimate, but still, I went and changed my password before doing it. Then changed it afterwards just to be safe. And then later on I tried to run normal GTA V and saw that my login e-mail was something different.

So that was a bit concerning. I haven't heard of anybody getting their accounts stolen through FiveM, however.

But as Fun de Panda has pointed out on his Twitter, using FiveM leaves open the possibility of getting your account banned:

I found an unofficial GTA multiplayer server. Will I get in trouble for playing on or hosting one of these servers?

There are only two authorized Grand Theft Auto online services – the Rockstar Games’ hosted Grand Theft Auto IV multiplayer feature and Grand Theft Auto V’s Grand Theft Auto Online. Any other online Grand Theft Auto service is unauthorized and your use would violate the license for your software. If you develop software for or host unauthorized servers you are at risk of legal action by Take Two Interactive. Players who use unauthorized servers may be banned from Rockstar Games services.

well to squash any speculation and the spread of misinformation I have only heard this in a couple of Twitch chats that I visit.. Yup. I google'd at the time and couldn't find anything so it can be BS so to that I will admit to f'in up there and will label my post as nonsense until official word comes out, if any. As for the streamer showcasing the modded gta v it is XpertTheif. Only came by his stream a couple of times when he was playing the modded game and a couple of other streamers that others host on Twitch. They usual have thousands of people watching. These days R* official stream is lucky to get 500 if they don't have a celebrity to help.

Kudos to whomever posted about blocking ports via Windows Firewall--works beautifully, and should keep anyone who implements it safe from dangerous public sessions, while allowing you to do most things.

Now...just need my GTA$ restored, and the Duke O'Death fixed so it shows up as free (am a returning player from the PS3, but it's still listed as $665,000; along with the full price Kraken and Dodo--of which I previously bought both). :-|

I was using firewall method aswell but there are easier ways. Press Alt+enter for like 10 seconds. Your screen will flash a couple of times. And voila you are in a public session of your own. I cant explain how it works so dont ask, but it just works.

You'll still have to join a populated public session in order to do the alt+enter method, whereas with the firewall method you'll automatically get put in an empty public lobby. Theoretically, a cheater can mess with your account in the amount of time it takes for you to fully load into the session and use the alt-enter method.

Cool, thanks for admitting your sources. I mean, it could have truth in it depending on who said it. But on the other hand, somebody could have been making it up.

At least you're not the guy on the Stream forums who warned people to "STAY OFF OF GTA ONLINE HACKERS WILL INSTALL VIRUSES ON YOUR COMPUTER AND STEAL YOUR INFO" only to end up getting so butthurt from being proven wrong that he accused someone of being a pedophile.

To be fair of the R* streams, they come on during the afternoon when lots of people are at work or school and cannot tune in when it's live. If you see the ones they have up on YouTube they usually get at least 60,000+ views. The archived ones on Twitch get a lot less which is fishy to me. But I have no idea what they count as "views". I think they only count a view if a person watches the entire stream in one sitting.

Okay, I did a little experiment today: for two hours I was just hopping public lobbies. A lot of people were talking about modders, hackers and dropping money. Some of the chats were hilarious like "Want to get some money? -Yeah! from half the lobby -Let's do missions together), some extremely stupid. I've seen one spawned Turismo classic near LSC that was rigged, but that's all. 43 lobbies in total, one spawned object. Maybe it's the due to the 2x contact missions but mostly it was quite: people doing CEO, biker or IE stuff. My rank is still the same, as is my money and any other stuff. Some of the players looked shady with ranks like 666 or gibberish names, but there was nothing apart from one spawned car.

However, as I said before, it proves nothing. Maybe I was lucky 43 times and the prize was on 44. Or any of my earlier sessions claimed it, which makes digit 43 pointless. Who knows. It was fun and I will do it again later, but for a shorter period of time. I decided I'm not afraid of anything with my rank 14 new account: if I'll get banned, be it. If not, I'll stick with contact missions and rank it up, there's plenty of time to do it.

Yeah...

From my experience, there's 3 types or cheaters.

First - your typical kid that will talk in the chat about hacks/dropping/obvious cheating to someone without being secretive about it. Also it's first one to teleport into your yacht when you do piracy, or any kind of PvP event for that matter.

Second - your shady guy who's waiting in lobby on his pray in the corner, be it godmode, or aimbot, at least he's switching back and forth to make him look legit.

Third - just troll, who's first time downloaded menu and explode everyone, and steal money.

Problem is that, whenever they see my legit rank(769), they tend to mess with me, be it freemode event or VIP work, since they think I'm a cheater too.

All in all, I think it's not safe, if you behave out of your group, they'll start coming at you. Depends on your playstyle too.

Personally I plan to stay out of public sessions until they release a full patch and the notes give a satisfactory indication of what anti-cheat protection they've put in (and verification here from trusted members who can review the code and rate it's robustness).
