Bailey14
Hello, I recently bought gta v but I have a problem in that it starts lagging after 5-10minutes of playing. When I launch the game it will run very smoothly but once it starts lagging the only way to make it stop is to relaunch the game. I am running the game on lowest settings. My system specs are as follows Windows 10 64bit 8gb ddr3 ram Intel i5 6600k not overclocked Intel HD 530 integrated card I have also tried monitoring my cpu, memory and disk usage while playing and can't find much of a link between them. This issues is really annoying me so any help is appreciated. HalfOfAKebab
If you're monitoring you memory and disk usage while playing and you can confirm it's not a memory leak, try checking your CPU/GPU temperatures. You could be thermal throttling, especially with an iGPU. Bailey14
I have done some tests not too long ago to check my temperatures and they seemed good but I will monitor in game and check. I am also not certain that it isn't a memory leak, my disk usage does increase but it still lags even if it isn't on 100% Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/884970-gta-lagging-constantly-after-a-few-minutes/#findComment-1069505828 Share on other sites

Bailey14
I have done some more testing and can safely say that nothing is being thermal throttled. I also monitored the different levels and found that the max usage my memory hit was 96% and is usually sitting around 85-90%, (the max value it got to was around 5500mb) the lags also had some relation to when my disk usage got in the red around 100% but there were also other times when it was lagging and I could not find any relationship with the lag and my hardware. Another thing I failed to mention is that I have updated my graphics drivers and I am using the disc version of the game. radioman
Well, the main issue here is the fact you have an Intel Video card, which has Shared memory-ie. it's shared with the System Ram. From my experiences with intel cards, I have yet to see ANY that have more than 256MB dedicated Ram (My last 2 Intel video cards, which weren't very old, had 128MB dedicated vram), which is an issue as the game requires 1GB dedicated ram as per the game's system requirements on the minimum side. 512MB dedicated Ram does work with some tweaking, but that's with Nvidia AND AMD/ATI cards. The ONLY thing that saved me on my Windows 7 PC is the fact I had the Intel card AND a ATI card-which the ATI one is the default one I use. Also, Intel cards are NOT supported by the game and has such are "Hit or miss" performance wise. Also, Intel I5 processors can be either Dual core OR Quad core-so if that is a Dual core, that is another issue? Your best bet (assuming you are on a desktop, as this cannot be done on a laptop), is to get a new and better video card.
