and the notification are def not the same.....

When they tell me to destroy something it's fullscreen in the middle. I can't even use some buttons when that message fills my screen :D

No, that's VIP work...

CEO work is a small notification in the top left. Just like adversary modes.

if you say so :)

All i know is Rockstar tells me to do it, so I do it. :D

So if R* tells you to go F#ck yourself, you are going to F#ck yourself ?

'But the game tells me to !' Is the most stupid reason ever... can't you think by yourself ?

I only destroy cargo if I WANT to. Like when people are destroying my cargo.

All the reasons listed so far are valid. My favorite "the game told me to"..its valid, its funny how no one disputes that the game does encourage everyone in the lobby to blow up your cargo. Its a choice just like most everything else in the game. Most people who are blowing up cargo would do it without a prompt, changing of the blip is all that is necessary to get a troll's attention. Some trolls probably dont blow up cargo, because R* told them to and thats like being a R* tool.

Free Roam is the most competitive mode in GTA because all tools are avaiable to build or destory. Strategy, experience, intelligence, dedication, and relationships all come into play when going after other players in free roam. So, its a bit more challenging than all other game modes.

If R* had done away with transfers sooner, implemented effective anti-cheat, money wiped dupers, and made punishments more severe for exploit abuse...most griefers would be gone. Griefing is a problem that a few simple additions could solve. One easy fix, remove ewo from the interaction menu, simple.

But when R* wants $100 for a yacht, the simple explanation is that griefing encourages shark card sales.

Who doesn't love that feeling when you blew up someones Import/Export vehicle they were selling for 100k

A guy suicide-bombed me in a helicopter earlier today - couldn't free aim a missile to save his life, and there's no lock-on against import/export vehicles, so he just crashed right into me and blew us both up. I killed him 16-3 afterward... not sure he loved THAT feeling, so I hope it was worth it.

Bottom line, I think asking this game or its player base to behave morally is a waste of time. If you want people to not mess with you, you better be the big dog, or find a workaround (like intentionally crashing your lobby to end up alone, or using the race trick to get a solo public session, if it still works). It is designed explicitly for us to interfere with each other; that's just the game. So when people mess with my income, I don't send them crying messages, asking why they did it and all that. I teach them a lesson - and that lesson is, there are softer targets than me, don't do it again.

Because I like to do it sh*t dick! You hear me, sh*t dick?

But seriously, I think people do it because they are bored, rich and aggressive.

Usually they have a high KD, and usually they HATE to be killed.

The best thing to do in retaliation is get at least one kill on them, then go into passive and taunt them. THEY ABSOLUTELY HATE THIS.

This is 100% me. I couldn't have explained it nearly as succinctly though.

I grief on occasion, but only in retaliation. I seldom kill people for the fun of it. It does become amusing when a griefer screams through the mic how much of a noob I am for beating him in a bit of old-fashioned aerial warfare.

My EQ is relatively well-developed. Note the word developed. It's needed to be honed over time as I'm an INTJ. Which essentially means that I place rationality ahead of emotion.

It's interesting that you mentioned helping random low level players. I've probably done that a dozen times. I usually give them my entire share of CEO job money, which nets them half a million after about an hour. The reason I do it is because I remember how treacherous the GTA Online landscape was when I first started.

I think retaliation is an entirely different thing to unprovoked attacks on others. That sort of attitude is more morally dubious in real life of course, but in GTA Online, if someone comes along trying to 4uck your 5h1t up, I seriously doubt many people here would say you don't have a right to have a go back. It's basically either that, go into passive, or leave the server.

Unprovoked attacks are a different kettle of fish in my book. GTA $ rewards for killing / destroying shipments in Freeroam are tiny. Sneak attacks generally require little skill so I fail to see how anyone finds it challenging enough to be fun - that's what Deathmatches and Adversary modes are for. As I've said before, it can only be driven by malice / insecurity / extreme boredom from lack of imagination / or lack of skills to go PvP in a competitive mode. None of which are very flattering.

If attacking CEO and Biker Shipments or killing in Freeroam yielded substantial rewards, then I'd understand it - but they don't. So I reckon most people who do it, it is because they enjoy messing things up for someone else - which is not really something to be proud of, even if it is just a game.

My suggestion a while back that instead of product/cargo being destroyed, they should be indestructible - but other players could kill you and steal it when dropped and move it back to their own property. Obviously then you'd have a chance to kill them back and re-claim it - a bit like the Freemode Event hot property or whatever its called, but with bigger payoffs. That for me would be more challenging if R* want decent PvP Freeroam action - competitive play with a genuine purpose.

the only time another player has the right to go after me is if I have a bounty on me. this pvp stuff is just an excuse to grief. rockstar must have a bunch of young interns working their with a griefer mentality.

I find it to be more entertaining than the repetitive missions, every pvp battle is unique in some way.

the main reason i grief is to punish all the bastards supporting rockstars crown jewel of trash

the fact that the laziest, worst rockstar game is the most successful thanks to cashcards warrants vigilante justice imo

hopefully ive managed to dissuade a few players throughout my escapades from supporting gta online any further

So you are gonna log in and play it, giving people who buy shark cards someone to play with, and populating the servers!

Good job buddy, doing great! That's the way to protest!

LOL

I see a lot of complaining from people who wouldn't even have the mental fortitude to play the Dark Souls series. "Why'd that guy invade me!? All he's doing is ruining my progress!" The same sentiment can be applied to GTA on a lesser scale when you have your shipment destroyed. For all we know they're racking up money to buy a Hydra to do the same thing. I don't even care if it's just a new car they're saving for- I, myself, never got my panties in a bunch over being needlessly killed. The fact that people actually take the time to write out sob stories over getting massacred is exactly why people do it in the first place.

I don't lose any sleep at night over mercilessly ruining someone's day in GTA. Insinuating that one's play style is a direct reflection of them as a person is asinine, though in my particular case, I also don't lose any sleep over the kids I've bullied in high school ;)

To play Dark Souls series is like being a Navy SEAL or something?

In a series that is notoriously difficult, you would drive yourself insane if you took someone trying to ruin your day of gaming seriously enough to take the time and complain about it on the forums- as what seems to be about par for course here.

You could add the Why? to so many aspects of GTAO.

When in a freeroam public lobby there is little room to complain about griefers IMO, if you want a GTA experience where you can control who you interactive with and how you interactive with them join a crew or invite only lobby rather than complain that people play the game differently than yourself.

If you hate the game that much, playing it at all is counterproductive. You'd hurt them more by not playing.

I have some serious complaints about GTA Online too, but on the days and weeks I am the most sick of its sh*t, I just go play something else. And for what it's worth I still think GTA V is one of the best entries in the series, even if you subtract the multiplayer completely. It's not above criticism but it's a very good game.

OP it's because they're huge losers in real life and do it so they can feel powerful. Every time, without fail.

Thankfully, I know how to glitch out the game thanks for rockstars sh*t hosting system and play in empty lobbies when I want to do ky CEO work. So both Rockstar and would-be griefers can both go pound sand. I win.

I don't grief but if I did it would be because the game has gone boring as sh*t. Also because they removed Dozer spawns in the city soon after launch, and they locked the titan and cargobob, and made the cargobob hook only able to lift a dry pea. I loved dragging buses along the road and bashing random sh*t.

What most people are calling griefing is actually being spoon-fed to us. Look at Fully Loaded, for example. It's basically a menu option that enables griefing. I tried it recently and I felt dirty afterwards, despite it being a lot of fun.

but normal players have to understand that their playstyles cant exist without griefers either

I don't get it. I can't deliver crates, cars and drugs without griefers?^^
the system rockstar developed is designed to cater to both griefers and non griefers

the game isnt a delivery sim and for good reason, if their werent griefers the modes wouldve had to have been designed differently to make them entertaining

bottomline is no the system wouldnt exist if their werent griefers so be grateful theyre there even if they frustrate you, thats the purpose they serve

But it is a delivery sim for a lot of people and it works very well. Everyone I know will lag out a session when they want to do a lot of the MC and CEO work (and especially selling product). The fact they all still think it's entertaining shows that grifers are not needed for it to be fun. Delivery products may not be the most fun you can have but it's a lot more fun than having your product destroyed.

There're also some people that use crates/ cars/ supplies as bait. :D

Edit: Also Headhunter. It still attracts large crowds for some reason.

I blow up CEO creates and steal cars because it would be a f*cking boring game if everybody just let players trudge back and forth like mindless ants fetching and carrying with impunity.

Players who get chased by people like me or have their crates destroyed and their cars stolen should thank us for giving them an entertaining and interactive game experience.
