Why grief?

Alot of players ask for it after 1 kill to be honest by sending an abusive message, as ive always stated if you're in a public lobby expect trouble its the nature of the game

How is killing yourself griefing anyone? Its not. Its more of what I consider a troll move. These guys get 1 kill then ewo or go passive and stand near you air thrusting, these are just trolls.

Griefing is when you kill the other player, not yourself haha

 

@smoke..how is his #3 not griefing? Thats exactly what griefing is.

 

Because it is not against the rules in a free for all pvp game.

If it were a pve server and I used an exploit to flag you and then killed you over and over, then yes.

 

I am not saying griefing is against the rules because its not apparently. I can kill a rank 12 350 times and its all good, Im not breaking any rules but its still griefing.

If a jet is targeting you and you suck at flying how do you combat this other than hiding, going passive or leaving?

If you really think there is no griefing in this game then you must be talking about another game.

If Rockstar actually took the time to get off their fat, lazy asses, they would be able to make it so that the kill goes to the guy who last shot him, and that's if they kill themselves a few seconds later after being shot. You know, like an assisted kill of some sort. I swear, these devs.

Better yet, count suicides against the K/D ratio. Suddenly, all the PvP tryhards that plague this game would think twice before going EWO.

Before my pad worn (xmas 2016 buzzard flying mangled LA) i sucked in a jet big time and the way i took on jets for years was heavy sniper from a roof top. Different story now as all i can fly is a jet lol but jets have distance advantage so does a sniper. A jet getting snipered has no control of the situation

I have yet to make an assumption about you but its just inmature to fight over a videogame thats literraly about f*cking each other up. Btw, ive worked hard in my 31yrs of life to be able to be full of myself... Genetics made me handsome tho... I dont strut around IRL, nor do i ever brag (check my post history), but in this case i was just pointing out my expierences which included most of the griefers/internet trolls ive come across(95%) being miserable social undesirables.. I then equated the fact that since i myself am the complete opposite in both gameplay preference and social status, that it must be along that reasoning... Otherwise why the hell would you find pleasure in ruining someones expierence?

They feel that in an anonymous enviroment like GTA they can project a persona were they feel they are finally "in charge"... i doubt there are handsome griefers or even well adjusted adult griefers.. I only retaliate... And even then its a "one-and-done" type of thing... I dont even care about other player existence... If it wasnt for the fact certain missions are only public lobby, id always play in solo/invite only...

No offence taken here, as I'm not the type of player you were referring to, but I know for a fact that you can't assume something about a person in real life, based purely on how they act in a computer game. We can disagree, but unless you know otherwise then you are just assuming. I'm going off people I know (pacifists, griefers and all shades in-between).

Agreed ... But i as well am going off the fact that i too have gathered data that stands by my point... Not to say everyone falls in this category, but those ive come across have been "social outcasts"... Trolls exposed in other forums, griefers who've been trolled in return until they've broken down and psuedo confessed to their less than glamorous lives and the what-have-you...

 

Again, there are exceptions to the rule and my word is NOT fact, but based on my findings this seems to be the case more often than not...

I'm not gonna enter this debate again but GTAO is far from one of the most violent games made...it doesn't even have limb removal/decapitation.

You know what... Fukk it.. Im good looking, well endowed and proud of it (get mad)... I have no desire or care to dominate/annoy/grief the rest of the ppl in my GTA lobby because real life is great in every facet for me... I play GTA for the unwinding in video game where i can extend the fruits of my labor into a virtual world and enjoy the fact that hard work, on or off the court, is rewarding if you take the time make it so... Protecting lower levels and helping others reach a higher echelon through missions/heists gains me the pleasure that griefers gain through torment and misery... My assessment from that is you must be miserable IRL since its the opposite of how i interact with players

 

Yes grand theft/gun battles/cargo ambushing/ are all a part of the game... But when you continually harass players whove clearly had enough of that aspect when you choose to follow them just for the sole purpose of your own amusement (with no consideration for theirs) your lacking something in life that grief fills in your heart/mind...

I've been AWOL from the forums for a bit but I just wanted to chime and let you all know that I am the most handsome member on here, Jesus told me himself...

 

No but in all serious, different work schedule plus finally caving in and buying Fallout 4 has kept me busy but I returned to online to collect my DOD to see that people still "grief" and nobody can do anything about it other than fight back or hide. It's a video game y'all, we're not MLG; nobody is judging you or paying you for your participation so just have some damn fun ffs!

I do agree, a general consensus on what players consider griefing would be ideal, though, just like with this thread and many others regarding most any topic on here, the gulf of difference in opinion will forever be a hurdle I feel...

For the record, I don't consider going after CEO cargo griefing. It's literally a part of the gameplay and actively encouraged by Rockstar. You do that stuff, you know the risks. (I won't go after you because I think its more trouble than it's worth, but that's just me)

 

That said, if you get your jollies by making other people miserable, you're griefing

So we've both experience completely different things, which means that neither of us is actually right and the truth lies somewhere in-between. Some players who grief are unhappy with life, and some players that grief are not unhappy with life. I'm also going to state the fact that some players that are happy with life do not grief, and some players that are unhappy with life do not grief.

 

Basically, there is usually no correlation between the two things.

ruining people is 50% of freemode, its what makes the game fun, imagine if the whole game was just driving back and forth delivering crates and cars and drugs.. thats boring!

 

griefers add the chase, the anxiety.. knowing things can go wrong is what makes things fun, they dont doit for money they doit for the fun of it, theres nthing more tense than being chased down by a crazed lunatic while youre trying to make a big delivery, and nothing more satisfying than destroying someones cargo

 

griefers cant exist without normal players and they know and respect that, but normal players have to understand that their playstyles cant exist without griefers either

Ok,Il explain my situation. Im dead bored with the game now, Iv acomplished CMM, bought all the toys and properties in the game. Iv even played a bit of role playing. Now I go through a fase of "griefing" when the only thing im doing is targeting similar players as me. If a get a text sayin please stop, or he goes passive or tries to run away I STOP. I want a fight, a challenge against a human intelligence. Im also 30 years old, work hard and have a strong personality. My way of de-stressing is by destroying everything. Thats my case, others well...up to them. But really, the IM HANDSOME amd sh*t is funny, has nothing to do with the thread.

My beef is clearly the definition of what one calls grief, or what we allow ourselves to succumb to before 'that line' is crossed, my interpretation of grief is different to others, and that cause the argument to grow, it does need clarity as to what's being discussed, but it'll never be that clear to everyone unfortunately...

 

One will see blowing crates etc. up as griefing, others see it as entertainment, some love to text to flex their grief powers, others will not accept it (rightfully, IMO) and many will see that using certain in-game mechanics, even once and fairly, as grief... And I genuinely cannot see all on this forum coming up with a consensus, aside the worst of horror stories, of course, let alone all 75 million buyers of this game...

 

We all relax differently too, some like a more peaceful session, while being productive in their game at times - to keep from relying on shark cards or cheated cash. Others look to chill out by stoking a fire in-game too, or to get really challenged, let it all out in a rage game even, and then, log off and continue their fully respectable lives... Work/children/education etc.

 

And of course, we get the cheats, and that select few of real bad people playing too, remember, 75 million... They ain't all saints IRL... They cast shadows and look to go much further than GTA to get at you, some are so good at being a snake and biding their time to maximise the potential to really attack another... To fall victim to that behaviour has it's impact, players tolerate less afterwards, become more aggressive themselves too if they see other getting a pass on it all...

 

Don't get me wrong, I've been guilty of this too, getting aggressive and defensive, I mean, many do... It's natural at times to react when backed in a corner, and those reactions then, can be manipulated by some to cause further issues...

 

I can see no end to this discussion, there are things I've read here I fully WILL NOT ACCEPT, but then another won't accept others thing I find daft... That's life... But we do need to be clear WHAT EXACTLY is 'grief' in GTA... Again though, it'll never be accepted by all...

 

Fair play, and a huge reason I LOVE GTA...
