Creepiest/Scariest area in any GTA?

[iII] Salvatore's mansion at night 😱

[sA] Back O' Beyond, Las Brujas, inside the dam, Aldea Malvada, North Rock, Panopticon and The Farm; those locations are quite eerie like someone will appear from nowhere and killing you 😓

[iV] The abandoned Sprunk factory, the abandoned casino and the subway intersections underneath Lancet and Easton 😓

[V] Mount Gordon, the abandoned mine and the Altruists cult 😓

Among many other already mentioned places, I'd like to mention Fort Carson in GTA SA. It gives a creepy vibe at night. Maybe it's because of that famous weird pedestrian or because of its proximity to Area 69 and the Lil Probe Inn.

I'm really surprised nobody mentioned Apartment 3C In gta VC. That's probably the creepiest place in VC. Just standing there looking at the bloody bathtub with the chainsaw gives you the creeps because you know someone was brutally murdered here

Funfact: ^^This creepy Apartment with the Chainsaw is actually a refrence to the classic 80's movie Scarface. How could anyone forget this classic easter egg in VC? It sure gave me the creeps when i first entered it playing as a kid back in 2002.

Yeah, totally the Mineshaft in GTA V.

Is it just me or do the bunch of Cables that are hanging on the Mineshaft Columns sometimes look like the Outline of a scary and slender human-like Creature lurking close to the Wall?

Scared the living Sh*t out of me when i turned around with the Cables just out of the Range of my Torchlight and emitting that shadowy outline...

Still don`t feel comfortable with walking to the End of the Mineshaft...usually take a Motorbike :D

I think Bohan and Alderney at night can be pretty creepy, and I really think GTA V in general lacks any of that creepy atmosphere, with the exception being the Abandoned Tunnel.

If they bring GTA back to Las Venturas, or Vice City, I think there would be a lot of potential for creepy settings, such as an Area 51 clone, the vast desert (e.g. bodies in the desert like SA), or a fictionalized Everglades, with both animals hidden in the grass in mud, buried native Americans, and the fact that the real life Everglades has had several horrific plane crashes in its history.

Think about it. What are some of the best horror game/movie experiences? For me tension building and suspense trump all.

Hell even though I know nothing's going to jump out in the abandoned Sprunk factory in GTA IV the place still gives me the creeps. Especially on a foggy night.

Mainly because you feel like something bad has gone down there, and people have most likely died there.

the derelict hotel in sandy shores at night. nothing scarier than getting ambushed by a warthog. the western end of sandy shores close to stab city is haunding as well mountain lions dwell in those areas in the hills. I did the crossing the sands epsilon mission at night and I had to be on my toes. chiliad wilderness hunting area is haunting at night also especially when you get deeper into the wood close to Cassidy creek.

it wasn't creepy to me but fascinating because I discovered that interior 10 years later after I first played it that along with keepy upsy ball and rc plane races etc. I had the stategy guide for vice city and even that didn't have those secrets in that book.

Mount Chilliad in SA at night with storm or fog, planes crashing and you're on foot in the middle of the forest.

Back o Beyond and the ships in San Fierro Bay. The ships was only used for 2 missions and if you come to it outside it's empty and claustrophobic. In addition, when it's fogging, the ship honks it's fog horn. Creepy sh*t.

I agree with the SandyShores Hotel its definately creepy at night.

Also GTA5's prostitutes give me the creeps, they stand with their legs pulled in leaning to one side, look like zombies.

I don't know why, but for some reason the mansion in Prawn Island from Phnom Penh '86 gave me the ultimate creeps back when I was a kid. I guess because the graffiti and decay gave off an abandoned vibe, giving the mansion a look of pure emptiness, and the fact that you could see the inside of the mansion through a gap in the closed front door was even creepier as the mansion looked something straight out of a horror movie. Although most of those fears went away as I eventually played the actual mission.

Definitley San Andreas was overall the creepiest in the series. Not to mention it's still the game with the most myths and mysteries surrounding it.

It was a game that came out when internet was big enough to spread this creepy rumors, but little enough to find real confirmations and answers. Nowadays you see a rumor of GTA IV or V or Next, and inmediately you search on the Wikia or Youtube to see if it's true.

Back in the days San Andreas had that creepy "unknown" and "mystery" factor that still today, even knowing there's nothing as Bigfoot or a Chainsaw killer in the game's code, makes me feel very uncomfortable when travelling through certain areas.

To answer the thread: the countryside in general was creepy, but maybe Shady Creeks and Fishers Lagoon stand out. That f*cking shack and that wheelchair at the end of the pier...

^ Well said.

GTA SA was definitely the creepiest in the series. There's just something to it that's eerie especially that abandoned ghost town in the desert (I think it was called Las Brujas).

Just being out there in the desert or in the forest...it's all calm and relaxing but at the same time you feel like you're being watched.

GTA IV was also creepy in some parts like the Sprunk factory and the subway. I remember one time I was playing and a random hobo spawned down there and scared the crap out of me. XD I know they're supposed to spawn in that one open area but this was deep in one of the tunnels where no one should be and caught me off guard. Thought it was Ratman

GTA V's Altruist camp and abandoned mine shaft was creepy but like others said thanks to the internet all possible myths or rumors can easily be debunked which kinda takes the fun out of it but oh well.

In GTA SA, aside from all those aforementioned areas in the forest and the desert, Big Smoke's crack palace after it has been abandoned. It feels so desolate and creepy.

In GTA IV, the Sprunk factory will always make me take the the RPG only so I can feel I have some defense against... Something.

In GTA V, that camp where you can hear ghostly voices. Also, the mine shaft, the abandoned hotel and the underwater wrecks.

Nothing makes my hair stand on end more than the abyss in GTA V. Even though I know for 100% fact there aren't any sea monsters down there, my imagination manages to take hold and I can't help but imagine the terror I'd feel if a gaping maw were to emerge from the blackness and swallow me whole.

SA is the only game in the series that gave me these vibes. Anywhere deep in the wilderness accompanied by extreme fog brings that little edge with it. Back O' Beyond is a good spot in particular that people have mentioned but also certain places in the desert work too when there's a sandstorm. The mass grave and Las Brujas are ones that comes to mind.

I will add to this the explorable apartment complex in the north of IV's Algonquin. The run-down apartments and rap music sound coming from behind the closed doors, and the silence that fills the staircase area which leads to the the different floors, and the weird and intimidating graffiti on the walls. The whole place feels like there's a history to it and it's not a happy one. It's not ghostly creepy, but criminally low life it's. You can detect the misery surrounding the area.

Gta San Andreas the Panopticon, especially during stormy weather at night. Also the desert can be creepy too, it feels weirdly isolated, San Andreas was certainly a masterclass in map design. I don't know why San Andreas has this oddly unnerving vibe in certain locations, maybe it's all the myths, while untrue they still stick in your mind.
