What city would fit the most in a GTA game with a 2000s theme?

I know GTA III was set in the early 2000s and GTA IV in the late 2000s, but i'm talking about a GTA that revisits those time periods or sometime around then.

GTA Vice City perfectly did an 80s theme, some people think San Fierro in the 70s would be a good idea, and I think San Andreas and LCS did alright with the 90s. But if the 2000s are revisited in a GTA with a 2000s theme, which city (it doesn't have to be a city that has already been done in GTA) do you think would be the best to set that game in?

And what if, in 15-20 years from now, there's a GTA game with a 2010s theme, like 80s GTA VC? What would be the perfect city?

Carcer City, a once great rust belt city that's currently deteriorating into a hub of slums and unemployment with what little industry left there barely hanging on before it gets outsourced to foreign countries.

Or failing that, Norfolk, Virginia. I went there once and the people didn't beat me with water bottles. Very nice people! They deserve to have their town made into a GTA game.

Baltimore or Philadelphia for an early 00's game it'd be funny listening to

on the radio while shooting down gangsters. Edited by Zello

just sayin that Carcer City might just be based on Philadelphia, which would still fit

I always thought it was based off of Detroit. That being said, Carcer City is more than worthy of a gta game, after all it's in the same universe as gta. 😏

Yeah I always thought that too, maybe it was in the 3D era, but it was said that it was neighbouring Liberty City, but then the 3D universe wasn't exactly accurate. It is still close to liberty in the HD era, which is more accurate, so it could be Philly, Philly still has its sh*tholes anyway.

I used to think it was Detroit but now I think it's either Philly or Boston. They're both close to New York

I'd like to say New Orleans because of Hurricane Katrina and how the whole place lost itself and became dysfunctional during those dark times (not to mention the government did virtually f***ing nothing to help).

They nailed it with Liberty City for the 2000s in both III and IV, and aside from the whole fascination with hipsters present in both IV and V, Rockstar got the early 2010s on the spot with V.

Yeah I''m going to go with Baltimore because of The Wire too. Although I think Baltimore set GTA could do with a second city. Washington or Philly are the nearest cities

For all the reasons Charlie Brooker praises the show.. imagine this as a GTA..
