do you think pc online will eventually be totally free and modable like sa mp? i'm on ps4 and I've been watching youtube footage of the mods and capabilities of sa mp. for example theres a prison mod where players spend time in prison. so some day when rockstar has moved on from gta online do any of you see this happening?

No...can't even use a reshade which is harmless what makes u think modding is going to make it in.

Maybe...by the time the next generation of GTA games rolls in then Rockstar would probably abandon Online in its current state and leave it for the modders to play around with

You've misunderstood his question, Quinn.

 

OP - Yes, it's absolutely possible. As a matter of fact, that exact thing was in the works some time ago and was called MultiFive. I believe the team were issued with a C&D and had to halt the project, but the fact of the matter is that it is achievable.

 

We won't see a project like this while GTA Online is still active, but it could definitely happen at some point.

Not developed or supported by rockstar, but after the game is EOL I expect they'd go after developers of things like FiveM and Multi Five less aggressively legally.

 

Anecdotal evidence, didn't do anything negative towards San Andreas multiplayer community.

Considering Metal Gear Online 2 is going to return as an unofficial online mode (since the original was shut down) and without needing a modded PS3, I'd say we're likely to get a MTA5 in the future. The community is bigger and I'm pretty sure the coding it's easier on PC than in a PS3.

yep and now it's FiveReborn which you can play right now with mods and friends, although your account will be banned from R* but if you don't care or have another account you can already.

I only have one account so I wouldn't risk it, I'd prefer if R* officially let us play in modded lobbies (totally separate from R* services & cloud saves so modders wouldn't become cheaters).

Yes it would be nice however people buy shark cards on the pc version and if they continue the rest of the franchise like this, they will never allow it. If R* cared about there playerbase they would let it exist. Look at how micro transactions can ruin games.

Like the world of warcraft legacy server Nostalrius. Blizzard gave a cease and desist order and forced them to shut it down. If there is money to be made from people buying gold they won't allow it.
