Locrito1995 361 Posted September 9, 2017 Just seen it and man...sure it has some minor flaws but this is a good movie and a great adaptation of the book. I honestly do not think it could have been better. Even The Turtle gets refferenced a lot among things. I truelly have no idea why most of the reviews i have seen by now rate it somewhere between mediocre and bad. It aint even cheesy and so bad it is good like the first movie...it is just good. DEALUX 2,400 Posted September 9, 2017 Probably because horror movies are meant to be scary or intimidating in some way. Most horror movies are not that because there is nothing believable about them. Therefore most of them are kinda sh*t. The trailer for this one doesn't look particularly interesting but I dislike horror movies in general.
Locrito1995 361 Posted September 10, 2017 I must admit there was not a moment i was overly scared except for like a handfull moments maybe, but the story and characterdevelopment along with the build up of scenes and the movie in general is simply near perfection. darthYENIK 8,562 Posted September 10, 2017 So, no tween gang bangs in this? That's the main reason I never read the book. That's just too weird for me. Loved the miniseries.
Mister Pink 9,653 Posted September 10, 2017 (edited) Probably because horror movies are meant to be scary or intimidating in some way. Most horror movies are not that because there is nothing believable about them. Therefore most of them are kinda sh*t. The trailer for this one doesn't look particularly interesting but I dislike horror movies in general. I would really agree with you if it was a year or two ago. I used to generally dislike horror films because they set out to scare so there these boxes that have to be ticked with breeds cliches and originality. There's also many bad horror films. I think horror films give the illusion from a filmmakers perspective that they're easier to do as apposed to some high-brown drama film like a Paul Thomas Anderson film or something or even a film drenched in sub-text and metaphors like Taxi Driver. I think the same for comedy too. There's trying too hard in films to be funny first and if it fails, the film fails. But if it's a comedy-drama then we have a story/drama first which happens to have funny moments. I think of The Sopranos like this. It's a drama first but there's actually so many funny moments in it that it seems more natural and believable. That's why there are some great horror films out there that don't strictly stick to it being a horror like there must be a ghost in the kitchen or monster in the cupboard. There's good intelligent horror these days that does have weight in characters, personality and story and they end up in scary situations. Critically acclaimed films that go outside the boundaries of George Romero or Dario Argento style horrors are definitely worth a watch. I'll give you a few and see what you think. Green Room Dead Man's Shoes Get Out Bone Tomahawk Don't Breath Let The Right One In These are some horror films that break the mold and to critical or audience acclaim. I try not to write films off by genre. Because even if it's a rom-com, one comes around every now and then and it's just good. Yes, most of them are cash-grabbing travesties but like anything really, if you know where to look there's gems there. @Topic: Nobody complaining this is a remake I think it needed to happen. The original is way to long and dated. It's one of those rare cases where a remake, makes a lot of sense. Yea well...i think the first director that gives green light for such a scene is going to jail for it.
Kirsty 33,438 Posted September 10, 2017 I didn't think it was very scary at all, a few jump scares but nothing to hide behind a pillow for. Beverley's pervy dad was creepier. But I did enjoy it, thought it was a good story and I'm looking forward to Chapter 2. The kid actors were really well cast; the lil guy from Stranger Things provided just the right amount of comic relief. Undecided if I prefer Tim Curry as Pennywise or not, but I think Bill Skarsgard did him justice.

Both the trailers for each part were pretty damn cool TBH. Really do make ya wanna see It. Awesome book, very memorable classic TV show with a really weird DVD here in the UK, one you take out and flip over to watch part 2. And hopefully a great end to a good two parter as I do feel that was the lesser of the 2 part TV show. Always a gamble doing a 2 part flick (Though arguably the one with the best of Pennywise's moments), and with some fine actors added along with the kids from chapter one reboot, this should be a winner for me and my daughter both. (The Mrs won't though, awww). I agree with others above, not so scary in chapter one, atmospheric though and at 37 years old and 20-25 years of watching all sorts of horror and horrific drama movies, it's harder to scare me now than 1990/1 when I was 9-10 and Tim Curry cemented a place on the list of legends, lol. But has a warm familiar charm and I love that too. Big fan.
