Couple of years ago i released similar mod on GTA Garage. However, while i was developing MemBiter tool, i decided to write a completely new, better performing car recording mod to showcase some of Membiter features.

 

 

 

Upcoming update: version 3.7

 

 


 

Create your own unique racing experience, mission or machinima. With native (*.rrr") vehicle path record and playback support, it's now possible to store and playback almost unlimited number of vehicles recordings simultaneously with almost no impact on performance. The best of all is that it allows you to store recordings on your hdd, and load them even while game is running.

 

Version 3.7 updates:

 

- fixed velocity data
- fixed RPM data
- added mouse support

 

From 3.0 and above

 

- Native GTA IV (*.rrr) vehicle recording support added

- Live loading of RRR files directly from HDD to game engine

Thanks. This is GTA IV only mod, but if anyone is developing similar mod for V and needs any help, i'll be glad to answer any questions.

Wow, finally a proper way to do races in single player IV. Gotta love this on the Nurburgring map mod.

 

Can the AI drivers use other cars or it depends of the car you use to record the path?

You can use any vehicle with any recording. You can change model settings in mbgearbox.ini file. Since each RRR recording is made with specific vehicle, you may want to use same recording only on similar vehicles. This is specially important if you play recording in default mode. You will notice that by default, playback doesn't respect any physics laws, but is always 100% correct.

 

In case you use AI playback, you can use any model, but with less precision. Have in mind that default AI is not that smart for high speed racing, and doesn't use breaks when it should. In one of next updates, i will enable new hybrid AI system, tailored for high speed racing as well.

I just made some rough testing without knowing too much, and I can see that the AI cars just slam on the brakes after high speed sections, making them lose control easily. Braking should be more gradual.

How about something like this? Flexible advanced AI that learns as it drives the path. In this video i did a test with formula, on a path made with other slower vehicle. Notice how bot is adjusting vehicle speed and breaks whenever it starts sliding out the path, gets close to curves, and hits the pedal to the metal as a real opponent.

 

 

 

 

Final result, bots now have almost excellent driving skills.

 

I will release new version with updated AI tonight.
