MisterCat
Hey folks, I just got GTA V, my first GTA game! It's awesome but I'm finding driving using keyboard and mouse a reeeeeal pain in the ...I've been practicing driving and I'm not too bad in most of the cars but the real high powered ones I just tend to crash a LOT and end up spinning out and/or wrecking the car making even the really early missions nigh on impossible for me, it's quite frustrating. I'm still on the mission where you have to repo the bike at the beginning but catching him seems hard enough let alone shooting or getting him off it.(I did succeed in ramming him off the bike once but by that point I'd caused soo much mayhem the cops were all over me and I didn't last long on the bike!)I've been reading that a game controller is the wa to go tho I've never really used one of them much before, I may go buy one. Do you think I just need more practice or is there really that much difference in a controller. I've also found the aiming point for my gun is really hard to see, tho I think I've jacked up the settings to make it visisble as possible, unless I've missed something. Any tips would be great, cheers Edited March 24, 2017 by MisterCat Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/883972-new-to-gta/ Share on other sites
JanyaGalactic
if you got past intromissions then dont do any other and just drive around more, you know when you'll be ready! Dock
Driving with the keyboard is obviously a viable choice, but a controller allows for finer adjustments and imho feels a lot better. Plus, you receive feedback from vibrations and such on top of that! I'd say you should continue trying to practice on the keyboard; if you feel you could still be driving a whole lot better even after that, go for a controller. The Xbox 360 Gamepad or Dualshock 4 are my recommendations (I use the latter, requires a 3rd party tool for some additional functionality but it works out of the box with GTA V). rsquattro
Practising and knowing your car is the key , you drive a muscle car and sport car differently or even in the same class there is a huge difference in handling , take the 811 and the re-7b. MisterCat
Ah thanks guys, yea I think the trouble is with keyboard you're either 'full go' or full stop' with no inbetween and the same with steering. I wil perseveer tho, and probably get a controller too when I can afford one Cheers Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/883972-new-to-gta/#findComment-1069495388 Share on other sites

It is not the best but it works for What I bought it for. Although when just playing online I prefer keyboard and mouse for everything but flying. Most muscle cars drive horribly in game anyway. They drive like you are driving on Ice. I do wish that rockstar would put in some work on handling for the muscle cars. and fix the handling issues on the other cars as well.
