What textures will you guys use? (Not talking about custom ones for signs etc like the one for above)
I would choose some GTA V Textures and Watch dogs 2 ones (If you need some WD2 grass , roads etc then pm me because i have almost everything extracted)
however would be better if watch dogs 2 textures would be a bit edited (Eg: Darker , different colours) to match GTA V

We use GTA V textures, and some from scratch made ones. The Street Texture is from GTA V, i only made it a little bit brighter, that it fits to the Gant Bridge.

 

I would not take the textures of watchdogs 2, since I do not know if thats legal.

 

I think we can make some Textures, that it looks like it is really from the Bay Area in Reallife.

I was just thinking, I know that this will take a long long time for 1 man to do.

 

What if you were to do something like Myriad Islands? Basically, they created a big street map for the base. Then people from the community would reserve a lot. Then they would model something on that lot.

 

However, in this case, it would be restricted to a San Francisco style building. Not to mention that the building style would have to be restricted based on the district.

 

 

 

In my honest opinion, if I was the one doing this project, I probably would use buildings from other games because it would be a massive amount of work. But non the less, I wish you the best of luck.

Maybe you should negotiate with the RDE team? They will help you with the Police / Emergency Services (peds, cars, etc...)

Is this project solely about the map, or also features other stuff like vehicles, radio and the likes?

Only some cars will be added, like Buses, Taxis, Emergency Vehicles, Trams and Trains.

 

But not normal Cars.

 

I have some ideas, which Cars are good for Taxis in the Bay Area:

And make the vapid police cruiser 2 to a Taxi

 

And for the Police Car, Bus, Ambulance and Firetrucks, we will only edit the Textures.

Me and Venom made now an low Detail reference Map for the Bay Area Map expansion.

Lot of places are missing that we want to do, but its only a reference ^^

 

Venom is now working on the Countryside of the Bay Area, and i now started to modeling Fort Point

And yeah, the Gant Bridge is finished. Only the textures must be done.

 

You will see the end result of the Gant Bridge when i test it Ingame.

From what I've seen, the quality of the models is very good. You did a great job!

Besides all the People who saying that it is impossible to make such a Mod, we need such a positive Feedback now! :D

In Battery Point, i made a Thanks board of the Users, who supported my Mod since the beginning, and gave me lot of Motivation!

We have decided that we are only showing now big progresses.

 

So, it may take some time before we will show something.

 

This does not mean that we have has been given up this Mod.

Just a simple update post which is focused on listing progress.

Done:

- Manually created heightmap for Mt.Montara parody
- Terrain generated from heightmap and various edits done to it
- Lookup textures
- New versions of stock terrain textures
- Dirt paths
- Rocky cliffs
- Satellite towers
- New eucalyptus tree type
- Tree placement coordinates

To-do/WIP:

- Secret cave
- Dried out water streams
- Vertex blending
- GTA materials setup
- Object placement
- Object export

Suggestions and any feedback in general would be very appreciated. I'll show images of progress as soon as I get to export stage.

EDIT: Forgot to mention I'm only talking about the central hilly part of the countryside located south to SF.
