Bummer. I mean it does make sense for a cease & desist from R* and perhaps interferes with the notion of RDR2 coming this year.

rockstar games used to be so involved with the community the modding community aswell now i barely recognize them

it's like they specifically do not want red dead redemption on pc why i don't know

I didn't get to watch, oh well.

That's my video btw. I was so excited.

But this is HEARTBREAKING if Rockstar actually C&D'd this :(

They did. There is no reason for the trailer to just be taken down so quickly.

universetwisters

Rockstar don't know about the Streisand effect :V

It was Take2. They handle the legal side of things.

They seem to be really interested in keeping Red Dead off PC.

Don't speculate to shift blame, just saying, not saying.

By the way, totally unrelated but I'd like to remind people that Red Dead Redemption is available to buy digitally for the PlayStation 3 via PSN and Xbox 360 via Xbox Live Store. It's time like this Rockstar need to be rewarded for the huge potential sales loss this mod would have brought.

Let's look at this from both sides.

Reasons Take 2 wouldn't want this mod on PC:

they're planning on porting Red Dead Redemption

they think this will stop people from buying RDR2

they hate PC players?

Reasons the creator would of taken down the trailer:

Didn't want GTA YouTubers making clickbait videos using the footage

Take 2 told them to

Team wants to make a proper trailer

????

Seems like Take 2 asked for the team to take it down but we have no confirmation yet. You guys should wait before telling Rockstar to go f*ck themself on twitter. If the creator was asked to take it down it would of been Take 2 not Rockstar Games.

Man, how cheap are SD cards now? I'm amazed at the price, and how people speculate.

I know this is hard pill to swallow, but as you may have noticed we did get contacted , and we sadly have to say we are stopping this project.

So thanks guys, we were all so happy to see this, but it isn't going to happen, sorry :/:/:/

for f*ck sakes Take2. If you aint going to release good PC port of RDR2 1 then f*ck you.

For the record this was never going to be a "pc port" it was just gonna be the map ...

Undertaking this sort of a project with additional content ported over was never feasable , we were only gonna get a way to convert the map with both legal copies of each game , and some custom scripted additional content , there was never any intention or mention to either port a storymode over from RDR to V.

Even though this mod may be taken down, we will never forget the hard work and effort you and the .white team have done for the past 2 years doing something that Rockstar couldn't do themselves. Thank you and I hope this doesn't stop the .white team from making more awesome mods!

I hope you don't throw away the files, Take Two has probably got nervous about this may hinder the RDR2 sales, as with FiveM back then when GTAO was making money.

In few years maybe, when the hype around RDR2 calms down, you could try to reopen it and savor it as a fine aged wine.

Pretty sure this wasn't on Rockstar either. They apparently didn't even bat an eye at FiveM, but then came Take-Two to NTA. People use the excuse that Rockstar is "free" inside Take-Two but at the end of the day, this isn't the case. T2 own Rockstar, and T2 don't know anything about video games, just the market, which means that anything they deem a threat, they will act upon it, even if Rockstar knows nothing about it. Anyone remember when mods were featured on the Newswire?

That said, a very sad ending for this whole situation. I am wondering if they somehow thought this was redistributing RDR assets and thus took it down. I remember T2 taking total conversions down back in the day. To this day I still think T2 is at fault for the milking of GTA Online.

Sounds about right, it's not like they can require you to have the game installed to avoid this from happening like OpenIV is doing with Liberty City whenever that comes out.

Will you at least release the .WHITE tools you created, to advance the modding scene? Not being able to get RDR assets into V is one thing but user-created content shouldn't be a problem, and just to rely on those OpenIV guys to be open is also something.
