Call of Duty WWII

So, a new patch was released during this week like I anticipated. Good. Those rifles and machine pistol were way too powerful. I lost so many encounters with riflemen using SMG.

War is probably the best mode in this game. It's not just about running and gunning, so it requires some thinking. I had played over 100 matches and I have to say that winning really depends on the team you are playing with. If your teammates think that this mode is team deathmatch, then you are probably going to lose. But this is actually a nice change. Something a bit different.

It’s kind of ironic back in the late 90/early 00s WWII shooters were so common place, but they’ve been far less common the last couple of generations.

Personally it’s one of the best shooters I’ve played in a long time. The D-Day landing made me feel like I was playing Saving Private Ryan: The Game.

The violence and gore is so visceral and brutal. It’s refreshing to get a war game that’s not afraid of showing the brutalities of war with decapitaton and whatnot which these days seems mostly reserved for horror games.

Only done some of the campaign, dived into a bit of multiplayer and the Nazi zombies mode. So far so good.:)

Completed the campaign, was actually really good. I liked Piersons character the most probably, the fact there was no real antagonist like previous CoDs (apart from the originals) was a nice change of pace.

I also liked the fact this was the first CoD (for me at least) where it doesnt literally guide you through the stealth sections, I hated the; wait for my signal, follow me, let this patrol past, scripted crap. In this CoD they chuck you in to the area, point out where you have to go, and that is it.

War is just Rush from Battlefield, or Capture Point from TF2.. It's a nice change of pace, a different way to play the game and I can see it being some peoples' favourite, but not so much for me.

This makes me sad, old COD campaigns are awesome same with Battlefield now story mode is for kids.

They could have made like a COD: Kelly's Heroes; instead of dying for the light side vs dark side, the game's all about brigandage, getting in and out of battles with as much loot as possible, generally sh*t we know happens in all wars just text books ignore because its not down home, wholesome patriotism.

Hell a Chinese, Japanese, even Indian p.o.v. on ww2 would be more interesting, especially from the Japanese. All this ra-ra-America, "Europe is saved again" bullsh*t everyone 30-up has seen a billion times is overkill. There's lots of material from ww2 for campaigns, if they'd scrap the History Channel version for even just 30 min of personal research.

Please watch the first 60 seconds at least hahahah :D

I'm still on the fence on this game. I have no plans to buy any new game this year, with Shadow of War and AC Origins being my most recent full price purchases. I'm waiting for a price drop for Wolfenstein when it's very cheap. However, it seems my December could be pretty empty and this game could lighten up my christmas tree.

Heard it's pretty good.

I'm not buying it yet though, I'll wait until I'm done with my other games and get bored or so. If my money asks me to be spend on a game, I'll most likely buy this.

This or the sims.

I think Angry Joe was a bit unfair on the campaign, but hey ho, I can see where hes coming from.

lol Angry Joe. :D

Maybe it's because I'm not really a hardcore COD fan and I don't play the games religiously to notice every single flaw, but I think it's worth a pick up.

Angry Joe "I keep getting shot so the game is bad" lol seriously?

I love veteran difficulty btw, on that setting it removes the hit markers. Which is awesome because hit markers are immersion breakers for me.

I am planning on banging out the campaign over the next couple of days, heard nothing but good things about it. I usually always play the campaign in some respect, sometimes more than once (veteran difficulty) etc. So I'm excited to try.

Don't think I finished the campaign on Infinite Warfare or Black Ops 3, that's still something on my gaming "to do" list. Which is now embarrassingly long.

good luck playing the black ops 3 campaign. it is the worst campaign of all cods. it has barely anything to do with the previous black ops games. its such a joke of a campaign. but infinite warfare is a good campaign.

Also for those wanting to take part in the multiplayer modes without having to play other people. You can select a custom match and then add bots of varying degrees of difficulty for any map or game mode.

Not bad for training tbh.

Tried war yesterday, its actually so good! Once I got to grips of the objectives and what needed to be done, it was great. Definitely worth checking out if you haven't already. Also, it doesn't affect your KD, so you can happily play the objective without having to worry about your KD (if you are that kind of player) What I liked is it seemed to attract a more objective based lobby, rather than playing Kill Confirmed and have everyone on your team just ignore the tags, which really grates on me. When I play Kill Confirmed, which is my favorite game mode, I don't care how many times I die, but you can bet your sweet ass I'll finish top of the leaderboard on confirms and score.

On another note, apparently double XP was active from launch accidentally, so when they enabled "double XP" weekend it was actually triple, so today you will be earning less XP than ever because they have corrected the "error"

So basically if you thought the last 5 levels were long, it will be even worse now. Doubt I'll bother entering prestige.

Finished the campaign. Cutscenes and voice acting are some of the best this generation IMO. Just incredible.

Would play through again.:)

I am only a couple missions away from finishing it, will be done today, really enjoying it!

Recently got an Xbox One X and I have to say, I think its a great looking game. Really striking on some parts.

I played it on PS4, but I can imagine on the XB1X it’d look jaw dropping.:)

I like the game and all, but these eight maps get boring quick for me in multiplayer, although I think it is more the lack of maps that is the problem.

I'm hearing mixed opinions on the campaign.

The campaign is essentially the classic Call Of Duty formula, cinematic cutscenes, the occasional stealth mission and your character entrusted to do almost everything. If you liked previous campaign gameplay you’ll like this.

Sure, the characters are a bit weak for my tastes and I couldn’t give a sh*t about their backstory or what happens to anything of them. Then again I haven’t cared for the characters since Soap Price and Ghost, so the lack of interesting characters is fine to me..

Get in, shoot sh*t, blow sh*t up, kick some ass and leave, it’s what I want from a COD campaign and for all intents and purposes, it’s what you get.

I managed to enter prestige thanks to accidental double XP. I haven't played MP since, but it was nice to exploit their mistake. Good times. :sneaky:

Yeah. It probably tried a bit too hard to be as dramatic as say Saying Private Ryan and other great war films like We Were Soldiers, Enemy At The Gates etc.

In saying that...

I'm glad Zussman survived after he got kidnapped. I have to admit I was almost expecting to find his body at that concentration camp right towards the end

.

Maybe a repeat playthrough might make me sympathise a bit more with the rest of the characters.

From what I've seen it looks pretty promising though, I'm just worried. Actual character development, better written dialogue, which was why Infinite Warfare and Black Ops 2's campaigns were really good. it's definitely better than the '2 people talking over an interface' from the Modern Warfare games.

Yeah, same here. I'm a bit disappointed that we never get to actually play as Zussman, he was the only character I actually liked, and it would have been nice if they explored and expanded his story-arc since there's an extra sense of danger involving him and the nazis.

I remember reading something back when the game was announced that we'd play as Zussman for half of the campaign, hmm, just a rumor, maybe? I also find it interesting that he appears to be the guy on the cover art.

Call_of_Duty_WWII_Cover_Art.jpg

Could be just a generic soldier, but every character in the game has a typical heroic, handsome, square jaw look to them except Zussman, who has a thin face like this guy.

So I finished the campaign, i enjoyed it! I heard before the game released that choices and failures you make within the campaign can alter the way it plays out and ends, I saw absolutely no evidence of this so I’m guessing that was just some bullsh*t article (the Apple news app seems to be mostly sh*t)

Went online today breiflefy to continue my daily login bonus and get a couple of daily challenges done, and saw that COD points are now officially live. So long as they keep it purely cosmetic then I really don’t mind, but I have a nasty feeling eventually new OP guns will be up for purchase...

Finished the campaign on Veteran yesterday. Best mode to play on hands down.

I have to say that at some points playing on Veteran was pretty annoying. For example those planes on Operation Cobra. Checkpoint made it so that I had to shot down every plane (after checkpoint) before they began to shoot me. When I finally got through it and Ack Ack achievement popped, it was pretty hilarious. Yeah, I shot every plane down because I had to. This reminded me of CoD 2 which was brutal on Veteran and I had to stop playing it after that legendary "can't do anything before you get blown away" checkpoint.

Hill 493 also took me over two hours to complete. Once you know how to destroy that last tank (and it's pretty obvious, since it seems that at least I died every time I tried different strategy) it's probably a piece of cake. But those German soldiers with shotguns that seem to set everyone on fire are just ridiculous. Previously I stated that guns and action are pretty authentic on single player. Well, not in this level at least.

All in all playing on Veteran isn't that hard. But there is always some points in every CoD campaign that seem pretty impossible at first. Heart of the Reich (WaW) still takes the cake in my book though.

Sometimes I still see grenade indicators in my nightmares.

Here are some screenshots I took on the Xbox One X, I think the game is really nice looking, not saying its the best graphics ever but there are times when I really appreciated a certain scene. Any level that involved a forest for example always looked great.

Please note I have a 4K TV but it doesn't have HDR, which according to the Xbox One X 4K setup, would make a difference to screenshots.

I "tested" the game to see how I liked it and I liked it enough to buy it.

This is the First CoD game i've bought and played since Black Ops 2 if they keep making games like this and stop with the futuristic and zombies I will come back to this series
