GTA Online - Should I be worried?

Recommended Posts

Several months ago I got banned for a week from GTA online for modding.

After the week was up I logged in, but I missed removing one single piece of the mod from my GTA folder and after about 20 minutes back in, I was pinged again... this time for a month. I have behaved myself ever since.

I was doing some of the new stunt races today while they're paying double cash and RP. I finished up, banked about $100K and parked my character in front of the TV watching Weazel News as I dozed off in my chair in RL...

I woke up to rapid-fire explosions and looked up to see an obvious modder going pretty much ape-doodoo until my game crashed out.
I shut down, ate dinner and headed out for the evening.

A little bit ago I logged into my Social Club page, but instead of just the $100K in the bank I was expecting, I found several million dollars in cash as well.

Should I be worried?

God I hate that when it happens.

I'm on trial now for something similar. I just close my eyes and nod off to sleep in my favorite chair, wake up, covered in blood (like wtf) dead bodies all around me.

Someone is prankin me, srsly. I don't remember any of it.

Oh yes. They are out to get you. They're watching you.

Time to get off the grid. Run, and don't look back.

Edit: Nah lol. But welcome to the forum, and good luck.

Hello Xxxxxxxx,

Thank you for contacting support. To keep the gameplay environment as fair as possible for legitimate players, we routinely do sweeps to ban cheaters and to reverse any illegitimate transactions. An example of this can be found in this support article: https://support.rockstargames.com/hc/en-us/articles/230632668.

These sweeps are based on examination of suspicious gameplay statistics and manually-reviewed evidence submitted by the Community. If you have not engaged in any cheating, you do not need to worry about getting suspended or banned. However, we may remove the illegitimately gained funds during one of our sweeps.

Best Regards,

Karen D.

So now what? Do I sit on this extra cash until the end of time waiting for them to maybe take it someday? It's a pretty substantial amount.

how much of it is legit?

If you were broke beforehand, I'd just spend it all.

I had about $300K total to my name and am now sitting over $14M... so very, very little of it is legit. :/

I'd go crazy dude ;)

If you don't have the money, they won't even notice it when they scan over you.

Seeing as you already notified Rockstar of your situation, it's only a matter of time before they take a look at your bank account and possibly wipe a part of it. I'd say keep playing like you always played in terms of expenses (small things like insurances, clothing, ammo) and don't go on a spending spree to keep the risk of getting into trouble at a minimum.

DangerZ0neX

Since that money dropped on top of you and you already reported it, wait it out by playing the game some more and don't buy a car or anything that's expensive, they'll eventually restore your cash to its original level.

If sometime passes, let's say a week, and nothing changes, then notify them again. If another week passes and they haven't done anything, use the money for useful stuff like an office or something, other people were in your situation and had no problem coming their way.

DO NOT SPEND THE 14 MIL. Dangerzone is right- wait it out for a couple of weeks. Try to keep a mental note of how much you are earning legit and only spend that amount along with your original 300k- try not to go over. After two weeks and reporting it a second time, if the money is still there- then buy what you want.

This is being overly cautious but you have a LOT to lose if you get this wrong. Not sure what progress you've made with rank, items owned, and unlocks- but you risk losing it all if they reset your character for cheating.

Don't Worry! Just spend all the money on vehicles. You will never get caught!

They even told you not to worry, so don't worry.

One advice to play it save though: dont put the cash into your bank account.

If someone tells you a different story then its probably not more than a story.

no point in going crazy if that would result in a permaban.

wont get to enjoy anything as it would be banned/wiped before he could even spell the word onomatopoeia

technically... PLAUSIBLE. and could get away with it...

but R* got stricter with cheating (accidental modding)

And starts to reset characters.. But again.. you did the right thing..

Why not? It makes no difference where the money is.

One question on the bank account... in an online environment where one can be quickly and brutally killed for simply being on the same server with other actual people, wouldn't carrying $14M in cash be a tad foolish?

No, because a) nobody knows your cash or wallet levels unless they go on your Social Club profile, or they're cheating themselves and b) you can only lose $500 each time you're killed or $10,000 each time you're mugged anyway - hardly breaking the bank.

How is cheating "accidental modding"? If I break the speed limit, am I doing it accidentally or not, when I'm the driver in control of my vehicle...

Geez people nothing will happen when you receive money, nothing at all. They exactly see that you got dropped on and when they decide to remove it, they will. You can just spend it all. Do you know how many people they have to ban for getting dropped money? Online would be a ghost town hahaha xD

this might be true for some people.

but there are also some cases in which the people already got banned for receiving and spending modded money.

so i would advice to not spend it to be safe.

just spend your legit money.
