For first playthrough - GTA 5 standard or GTA 5 Redux?

For playing through GTA 5 for the very first time, would the changes brought by the GTA 5 Redux mod negatively affect any of the story/game mechanics?

My main concern is with the police system, which in the Redux mod gives 5 star military tanks, 4 star FBI, and 3 star SWAT.

For those of you who have played through and finished the story of GTA 5, would those changes to the police system still make sense within the overall story? Also, would it make any critical missions a lot more difficult or even impossible to finish? I haven't yet played the game and so I've no idea how the police system of the standard version of GTA 5 compares to Redux.

probably not, but tbh, you should ALWAYS play gta vanilla first. If you don't, ffs, you don't even have an opinion... if you don't play the game vanilla, nothing you think about it will ever be accurate or matter.

Play the game VANILLA first, then mod it. If you don't, nothing you say will ever hold weight. If you can run maxed settings PLUS redux, just play vanilla first.

I agree, it's always best to play vanilla first when playing GTA for the first time, you wanna be playing it in its original essence to capture that authentic feel of its world. You won't fully understand or appreciate GTA for what it is, if you play it with mods from the first time of playing it.

To be honest, I'm not too bothered about tha Redux mod, don't get me wrong it looks amazing, but it kinda takes away GTA's unique identity with its dramatic makeovers and real life brand naming of in game products. GTA V running on max settings on a decent PC at a constant 60fps looks more than stunning enough as it is. Besides, I'm not into real life brand naming in GTA, I prefer the in-game product brand names, it's what gives GTA it's authentic fictional identity.

i find it totally unnecessary to add stuff to game, simple trainer/menyoo to access quickly all the game content on demand is quite enough to have fun!

@crimson - what did you settle on? Did you decide to mod or play vanilla first? Will pm you the thread in case it reaches you that way, cheers, just curious how you played first?

edit: actually, I can't even PM you because of forum rules on new members. I hope you see this and let me know. Thanks! Really curious about how you decided to play your first time through.

Playing it vanilla is probably best at first, because by no means is the game ugly or anything of the sort. In fact, you'll get a better idea of what needs improvement and what doesn't. After that first playthrough, sort through the various available mods and pick your poison to craft that more or less perfect (subjective) build :)

GTA vanilla graphics is always king, it fits very good to the setting and the timecycles are just perfect and very well fine-tuned

These graphic mods do awful things most of the time... especially the nights look bad.

Just look at vanilla distance-fog, distance-blur and chromatic-abberation, it looks great and gives the distance a good feeling of "depthness" !

No mod does this better, some mods even remove some of the things listed above (why???)

The overall image-quality in vanilla is great. GTA doesn't wanna have realistic graphics in first place, but enjoyable graphics which fit to the setting (so everyhting is a little bit exaggerated)
