Hi Guys! So today I´m showing you a ambitious project that has been in my mind since last summer.

I always dreamed what happens years after GTA Vice City story.

 

STORY

 

Vice City's most powerful man, Tommy Vercetti, becomes seriously ill, and in danger of life. The 19 years of power draw lots of people to take over his place, but one would stand out, and if Tommy had a child? Matteo Vercetti was born in 1986, after the events of Vice City, but has always been kept secret due to the nationality of his mother, Alejandra Rodriguez, a Cuban women. When he was 8 years old his mother was murdered on a return stroke of the Cholos. And Tommy delivers his son to a family of friends from Redsands, Las Venturas to keep him safe. In 2005, comes from Las Venturas after knowing that his father is ill and embarks on an adventure to take his position,but,he only has one person he can trust Pietro, an taxi driver , friend from the times when Matteo was a child and lived In Vice City. Is Matteo the real heir of Tommy?

 

I'm planning 20-25 missions to the game.

 

DEVELOPMENT

 

You must be thinking: "Damn, reconstructing Vice City to 00's will take a lot of time". It's true. It will. So that's why I planned two development levels:

 

MAP,CARS;PED;WEAPONS;ETC... : Building the base is the first thing to do. So, reconstructing will be a hard work.

STORY and SCRIPTS: After finishing the map, if all goes well, we proceed to the story level.

 

The mod is in a very early development state, since it´s only an concept. And you must be thinking: " Why creating an topic for a mod that is only a concept?" I think it's better to show what it's planned first, because if I start working and then I see that nobody's interested, it's a waste of time.

It's very ambitious for 2 persons, but with a solid team things go well.

And yea, more often than not stuff like this doesn't go well. At least opening threads with nothing to show. If you can model and do other stuff, great. If you can't and you're just the idea guy (which I'm thinking is your role because your only positions you have on the team are the leader, story, and radios), then learn some aspect of modding and come back to this.

I thought Mercedes would've been Tommy's romantic interest instead of some random Cuban? I dunno, that's just my thought.

I understand your perspective,tho. Like I already said to NFX i'm doing what is planned in the team section and then I learn to model and start with the big changes. Everything will take time. Even it can last 10 years and stop 6 months without any progress, it isn't dead. I can came here and show some progress outta nowhere to prove that the mod has been worked.

I'm sorry for possible rude phrases, but this mod clearly wouldn't make it. It reminds me of my friend, who loved to talk about his cool music band, which he wants to start soon, about the visual style of it's members, about the music style they will choose and so on - but in fact he never even played any musical instruments in his entire life. So he never made it, and when I learned how to produce music and showed him the basics, he said its boring and uninteresting.

 

You know, rebuilding most of the city with different style and doing 20-25 missions...Look at the Shine'O"Vice - it took YEARS to make SOME map improvements and after 4 years some missions are still unfinished. You don't know how to model, you don't know how to script missions, actually, you never even tried. And trust me - when you start to learn there will be THOUSANDS of unexpected obstacles and lots of boring grind and it's a torture to handle it. Right now this project is a fan fiction story, similar to My Little Pony ones (I didn't want to humiliate you, its just a first example that comes to mind). There are thousands of similar stories and only one actual story mod (Long Night). Imagine if every fan fiction writer created a thread here. Damn, just look at that dreamer - http://gtaforums.com/topic/152461-wiproad-warrior-mod-for-san-andreas/ - read his thread, it took 12 years and all he did is just a bunch of cars! Look at the Back To The Hill Valley mod - it took years and there isn't any mission still. Dude, you really should start with some smaller things - some standalone mission or a single building. You're not even sure that you should make it: "if I start working and then I see that nobody's interested, it's a waste of time." Are you planning to do all this epicness just to receive some good comments?

 

Also, your mind is changing through the years and you can't be sure that after 10 years you still will be interested in modding of a 25 years old game. There will be another preferences in life, another goals, in fact - another YOU. So don't plan such colossal projects, really.

I Think you're right , maybe i can turn it into a Mod only focused on transforming Vice City into 00's. If it goes well, maybe I can give permission to a good mission scripter to do some missions to this mod. And no, this is not dead like Avaritia predicted, this is having a different perspective.

Edit: Maybe I´ve learned something with this. I'm now starting work with a very simple mod. And I'm not doing the mistake of opening a thread without anything to show. Feel free to lock or delete the topic.

Vice City at 2000 decade was my original idea to create a mod, but I scrapped it all and now I only create fanfictions based on this, featuring my recurring OC characters with III Era characters.

 

Maybe your mod will be a sucess in this progress. I liked it! ;)

I'm happy someone liked. But I think it is better if I start writing fanfics and doing some minor mods, and not mix things up. It's very complicated. I was determined but I think it's better if I gain some experience. Maybe I can keep this topic to see my evaluation. Thanks for the support,anyways! ;)

I know that you're asking that because of your usual sarcasm and that stupid post last week. Cpt Rookie's post changed my way to see this ambitious project, and maybe divide it into few mods seperately is the best thing to do. I'm planning a new, more simple mod and I'm only posting it when there's something to show.

So, before you start with all your caracteristic jokes, yeah the mod is closed. Anyway, that barely didn t started.But I don't give up from modding, and I BET that if I create a new topic for a new mod, you're going to appear and say your jokes, even if it has progress or not.

 

So feel free to lock or delete this topic.

Looking forward for some progress on this, I can't deny, if you'd really try making a gigantic TC with new missions, map, cars etc. then it WOULD die, no matter what. I went through that phase as I was working on many minor TC's which I never bothered announcing on GTAF since I was worrying that if they die - people would be really devastated...

 

Anyways, continue pursuing your dreams, make that mod! :D I can only advise you to also alter the radio stations heavily, maybe not to feature them in this mod in particular but just toss out some playlists that could fit into a 2000's Miami parody. It's not the 80's anymore, so we'd need new radios with new genres that were "in" at that time.

Thanks for your opinion! I already know that the radios need to be heavily edited. This mod is now in Stand-by and that's only a concept like I said in the introduction, and also I've been thinking in the more negative opinions. So i've an idea. I'm right now working on a mod, more simple, that I'm going to publish here when I think it's right. That mod isn't a concept/idea because is being actually developed. Then if things go well and if I learn something from that. I can pick this Idea again. Edited by JDaster
