What is the closest equivalent to IV's Cops n Crooks?

Recommended Posts

Does GTAO have anything similar to this? For the life of me I cannot understand why R* did not include this game type in GTAO. It was so fun to play in IV but I'm sure part of the reason for this was the crazy physics that the game had.

A community created Capture based on it.

I just don't understand why they never made it. They have all the tools, all the police equipment, all the features to make it and it was one of the most popular game modes in GTA IV.

All these Advesary modes we have gotten and none of them are Cops n Crooks. I would trade all these adversary modes for Cops n Crooks.

Simple as the fact that someone high up enough at R* doesn't want you playing as a cop.

(Read: "How dare you think that way--challenging my our preferences the very essence and life blood of GTA Online's philosophy.")

You're a crook, d*** it! Get used to it.

Or else they'll release even more Adversary Modes with colored helmets.

Trade them all but Deadline. That one was actually good.

Yeah it was, I'm not saying they are all bad. but if I was given the option to trade, I wouldn't hesitate.

^^ Well, seeing as you can select a cop outfit in the Versus mission "Crooked Cop", when you're locked into playing as crooks *cough cough*, makes R* look pretty stupid hypocritical in their statements about never letting players assume the role of cops in-game:

http://gta.wikia.com/wiki/Crooked_Cop (screenshot below from 2016, but still in-game..."Participate in a Versus Mission" is one of the more frequent Daily Objectives).

They are, in effect, letting you assume a fake police role to capture a crooked cop. Go figure.

Go play gta iv if it's that great bla.bla.bla. That's the typically answer you get from idiots. But when you played gta5 on NG it looks to ridiculous and all my friends stopped playin gta iv on ps3. I wish it would come back. I was in top 50 worldwide. The funniest game mode ever. Would definitely trade all adversary modes.

Go play it then. I prefer power play, entourage and extraction to this. GTAO far surpasses IV MP.

I wish they would bring back cops and crooks.

A police update would be a good time to bring back some popular things from old games. It could bring back the APC, the water truck from SA, and of course,

the H U N T E R

They should also REALLY just put the cop outfit up for sale already.

I would trade away all the ridiculous kiddy bullsh*t in this game in a heartbeat just to play one game of CnC.

Man I'm so glad I posted this here because you guys get it. Over the past few years I've been trying my hardest to recapture that incredible spark that GTA IV online had but it's just not there with GTAO. I mean I don't know if having a cops n crooks mode in GTAO will solve everything since the games run on different engines/physics but just having that same framework in place for CnC should go a long way in bring back that func factor.

And Slasher

And Power Play

And Vehicle Vendetta

And somewhat Juggernaut

As much as R* continues flipping players off stomping their feet and digging their heels in on this issue, it's not going away. They hold the reins, but it's clear they'll never silence the noise until they concede and accommodate players in some form on this.

Bottom line is that enough players find the theme of police fun and interesting enough to doggedly pursue it and keep reminding R* of that fact. I dare say, even more than there was passion for a Bikers DLC.

I think it's due to the layout of the city and how differently the cars handle from IV. In GTAIV liberty city felt much more like a maze lending itself better to the cat and mouse chases that would happen in cops and crooks on the other hand the cars in V are way too fast and maneuverable for the simpler layout of Los Santos which even though as a city is probably bigger than LC you can zip from one side of the city to the other in no time in even some of the slowest cars meaning there would be very few chances for the police team to intercept unless they made every escape point waay out of the city.

It's the same reason they had to give us bicycles instead of motorbikes for that adversary mode that felt inspired by the chase scene from Terminator 2.

I can't believe this many people have replied tbh. I posted the same thing many many times 3 years ago, and barely anyone could give two sh*ts. I guess the kind of users that are on this forum have changed.

I think on one hand it is stupid they haven't included it, it hands down beats everything else on GTA Online altogether. And we know based on leaks that the beta version of GTA Online looked as if it was all built around being a massive version of CnC. But as OP has said, I feel the dynamics of the layout of the city, car manoeuvrability etc just wouldn't allow it to work.

I think our best hope is if they bring the Liberty City map out on GTA Online, and with it (and this I believe is SO important) we must have cop characters. That does not mean our current characters dressed as cops, but I truly believe that the foundation of the main point of excitement in CnC was being a Cop. For example being able to say things like 'guess who's gonna get shot in the face' or 'you're dead and you don't even know it' was so important to the overall success.

Go play it then. I prefer power play

Who's to say OP doesn't play it? I've seen a lot of people just going back to playing IV now it's backwards compatible.
