GTA IV officially backwards compatible on Xbox One

I'm with you on the point about IV's simplicity in MP; it'd be great to have signature cars in IV's MP that you'd spawn with in free mode, but I feel like Online can be a bit overwhelming at times; so much to do, having to worry about managing your money, expenditures on car insurances, losing ammo if you die in a firefight (particularly frustrating when I lost all my ammo straight after Import/Export, losing a whole box mag for the Carbine Rifle hit hard after splashing some cash then skimping on necessities). Played a few single player missions then hit online, hosted a race and finished first...still got it after all these years!

I'll always much prefer GTA IV's vehicle handling, especially for lower spec cars and muscle cars, really felt like you're heaving Roman's Taxi around corners rather than power sliding through corners in Michael's Tailgater. Guess I'm a real sucker for nostalgia in that case.

Maybe it's just me, but on XB1 it doesn't seem to get anywhere near the amount of pop ins. I remember on 360 going into the Hove Beach apartment the bed used to pop in like crazy whenever I went inside. I don't think I've seen it do that once since I installed the game on XB1.

It just feels like it runs better. Makes me hopeful how a remaster would improve things even more.

None of that even compares to a PC version running at 60 fps with a good ENB thats what's really transforms this game visually. Edited by Official General

I might agree on that, on Xbox One it runs so much smoother than on the 360. I have done about 18 hours into IV on XB1, and I barely ran into various pop-ins or frame rate issues. It can run casually slightly above 30 FPS now, compared to the old 360, and especially the PS3. Which I think is the least favorable version when it comes to GTA IV. I have the Complete Edition though. I might do EFLC later on though.

Also load times are faster too. On XB1 it took about 5 seconds faster than on the 360. I might be wrong since last time I played IV on 360 was 2013.

I installed it aftering getting an XBox one S really cheap and it really does run better and look better. Is it me or does there seem to be more peds on XBox one. Maybe that patch installed more peds or something.

One week ago both GTA IV and EfLC were updated on Xbone, but there's no information about what has changed. I saw speculation about removing some songs due to licenses expiring or that it was simply emulator update, but that's about it. Does anyone know anything?

I have been playing it and haven't noticed any missing songs. It is probably to make it run better on the X Box One or maybe they are getting readyor X Box one X enhancements.
