GTA IV officially backwards compatible on Xbox One

Recommended Posts

kBlaise

This means that it is (very likely) going to become backwards compatible on XB1. Quite possibly along GTA IV at some point.
Red Dead and Bully were rated as well, just before they became BC.

EDIT: Both GTA IV and EFLC are backwards compatible now.

Excellent news! Red Dead ran great for Xbox one, hopefully GTA IV will run smoother as well.

This is great news I hope it makes it's way to PS4 eventually but not on PS now anything but that.

Nice! And weird, I tought we'd see something with GTA Vice City Stories, but I think Rockstar forgot about it completelly... It might be comming in April, on EFLC's 8th anniversary.

Edit: Nevermind. Well, that was quick...

Hopefully there's a decent FPS increase. IIRC the FPS was unlocked but it barely stayed at 30 either way.

I'm sure Digital Foundry will compare it with 360 version. I've played IV for few minutes and it holds very good framerate while driving, something in region of 30-40 fps, maybe even more.

Hows the textures and framerate? And, have you tried getting into multiplayer?

I have the stories from liberty city disc version. Updating it on my Xbox one now.

This means that it is (very likely) going to become backwards compatible on XB1. Quite possibly along GTA IV at some point.

Red Dead and Bully were rated as well, a few months before they became BC.

I got an email today stating IV and the 2 expansions are now BC.

Unable to record footage but honestly frame rate does not seem much different....it certainly loads much faster though

what about the resolutions (and jaggies) does it seem to be 1080p or normal 720p?

Textures are exactly the same as in original and you can see it's a 2008 game with shimmering and all this kind of stuff. As for framerate, as I said, for me it's smooth while driving, but there probably are drops, especially when object physics is involved. Let's wait for professional analysis.

I couldn't find any race so far, but you can still play deatmatch and free mode with other players.

The jaggies are definitely still present..as far as resolution it looks like the same 720p....but I am old and my eyes are shiite

I should mention I was able to get into a 10 person free roam lobby on the first try (unlike GTA Online lately lol)

Oh yeah, loading times are shockingly good when compared to GTA Online, lol. It takes something like few seconds into lobby and around 30 seconds back to single player. I forgot how quick it was.

I tell you what though...playing GTAIV and GTAV back to back and you really notice how much the controls have been tightened up in GTAV - GTAIV feels like my character is being controlled by spaghetti noodles

Do you keep your multiplayer rank like before or you have to start from zero?

You don't even need cloud save transfer, your multiplayer progress is saved on Rockstar servers.
