I too would like it if they started making them amazing.

even with the 30million "loss" those numbers are damn good!

they spent 250m on a mobile game developer studio... their games aren't even good. it's like they intentionally didn't look up the mobile business is ruled by the guys who make game of war simply because of kate upton. doesnt matter tho, at least Rockstar Games is always at the top of the app store.

Agreed. They even exceeded their own expectations I bet. Hats off to them.

75 million x $60 = $4.5 billion

That can get you 45,000,000 megladon shark cards

that's $360,000,000,000,000 in game cash.

You can almost buy everything you want with that money.

You do realize they don't make $60 off each copy of the game, right?

i bought the game twice.... would have bought it 3 times if I had kept my ps4

The game isn't new any more and there are several newer games out that compete for attention.

I've always figured the player-base would wane and diminish with time. From the sales graph posted in the OP, it looks that interest has at least remained stable.

The news makes me optimistic there will still be plenty of people playing GTA Online for the foreseeable future. I hope that's true.

Agreed. For a 3 year old game this could be unprecedented.

GTAV ships 75 Million copies

I think I must have bought about 74 million of those :D

So you're the one they call lispyjimmy with his huge warehouse?

"Shipping" 75 million copies is different from "selling" 75 million, but even with a few million sitting on store shelves it's a huge number. The game is successful far beyond what any developer could hope for. This is one of those games that will absolutely go down as an all-time classic.

And interesting how it has generated so much revenue yet Take-Two still posts an eight-figure loss. I guess all those anti-Shark Card folks with visions of rich execs diving into swimming pools full of GTA money will realize that selling lots of copies and microtransactions doesn't necessarily mean you're stinking rich ;)

How usually usual the suspects are whenever anything resembling positive pops up.

Talk about triggered.

How true. Mention that GTA is anything but a trainwreck and the whining begins. I was confident GTAO would be great but not this great. It's epic IMO.

The numbers are impressive to be honest.

Due to the lack of acknowledgment to the fan base (majority of the time) and keeping us up to date on future titles ahead, they seriously lack in that department, and the lack of patching glitches, modders, and hackers, they could have done better. If they spent enough time actually working on their game for the better and communicating with the fan base, instead of counting all that cash, they would have done better. But I digress.

I love RSG and applaud them on every title they do, but they've been slacking as an actual development team and more as a cash grabbing business. I get it, they have mouths to feed as well, but we feed them. Without us, they have no business. They should probably focus on us, the consumer, more often.

According to datsaintfan they don't see rdr2 as replacement for gta online and don't expect sales goes anyway near the gta 5 numbers. So at least take two haseparate a strong interest to continue gta online as long as possible- I see a lot of dlc in the future, most likely a second map to get the new stuff some space. ;)

Nothing they make in the future will ever surpass the amount of copies that gta v has sold. Doesn't matter what they do. And now that they have like $4 billion off this game, the next red dead better be better in every way than red dead redemption is. If not it shows they are incapable of making better games with a much bigger budget that there previous games. I find that companies that spend insane amounts of money on games make worse games than companies with smaller budgets. Look at indie developers. It could sell another 30 million copies doesn't mean that is the best because of that. Tetris is a simple game but has sold almost 6.5 times the amount of copies that gta v has sold. Based on this logic, Tetris is the best game ever made and all other games suck compared to it no matter how well they sold because they sold less copies than it.

Original post talks about 75 million copies shipped. Than next 3 comments talk about awful servers. "Than people defend R* Its not them its just your internet" what a joke. Well unless its there peer to peer garbage than I guess my internet only decides to be a problem only playing gta online and only gta online. Any other game I have ever played online regardless of server type, I have rarely had any issues if any from them, but start up gta online and I already know I'm gonna get some sort of issue. Why in some gta online updates you rarely get errors and some online updates you get hundreds of errors. Remember heist update where people were struggling to find a 4th person to join there heist? Well I do. It was a train wreck in term of online stability. This may not apply to this topic very much if at all but, if the level required to do heists was way higher than level 12, which is basically 99% of the playerbase, maybe there would have been way less people trying to do heists at the launch and would have made the issue far less of a disaster. Shows how poor the peer to peer thing can be. Dedicated servers could have handled that and taken much of the load off peoples end and made that update stable. They should have had dedicated servers from the beginning with how much money they made alone from pre orders. Most of the issues with cheaters and modded accounts that exist or still exist come down to there poor decision in using peer to peer.

Yeah, the Infernus has a messed-up carbon fibre section in one headlamp and the Dubsta 2's steering wheel stitching floats in the air.

Both annoy me to no-end.

The Lynx's steering wheel is way off-centre too. You'd think they'd at least try to squash such tiny bugs quickly, but nope. Real shame since that is one of my favourite cars to drive at the moment

I just got one myself, but haven't driven it yet, it's a dirty shame the steering wheel is messed up for such an expensive vehicle.

If it was, he is pretty damn accurate with his throws, had I not moved to the left that thing would have struck the chopper.

100s of updates later....... (100s is an obvious exaggeration)

"People simply pointed out that with all that money made, it's a shame that Rockstar haven't put just a little back into it"

Let me reword it for you.

It's a shame Rockstar have only put the money back directly into updates that just add more things to purchase* and fixing money/clothes glitches.

If Rockstar released tons of patches fixing bugs, balance issues and the servers I would be happy to congratulate them on their sales. But that's not reality.

*preferably with shark cards

This is where the thread goes sideways. It is extremely off topic and b & m. The problem is the " entitled " think their voices are the most important and the rules don't apply to them. FYI...when they stop calling fanboy we will stop calling entitled.

You could always ignore posts that don't agree with your view that every corner of this forum must be a 24/7 circlejerk about how perfect GTAO is.

And it's not entitled to expect the game that I paid $70 for to work online more than half the time.
