Don't buy the cargobob

I like the Cargobob but I've never bought it because the free spawning ones are there when I want one. I wouldn't use one for I/E as I enjoy the missions as they are and it would be somewhat boring using a 'Bob for them. Plus I'd be sh*tting it when flying over water, I don't really trust the hook anymore.

I do not regret buying my bob. It paid for itself very quickly.

If you struggle to use the cargobob, practice. It works as it should and, with enough practice (and sometimes luck) you can even pick up moving cars.

The cargobob makes source and sell vehicle cargo missions very easy and often much quicker. At $80k profit per car sale, in 25 car sales it will have paid for itself. The speed at which 25 sales can be done, and effort required, makes this an easy target to hit even for a casual player.

Just ask your receptionist for it, you leave the office in it.

For a sale, take the bob with you to the vehicle warehouse, park it up and it will be there waiting for when the sale starts.

apparently , unowned cargobob has tendecy to vanish whetever you're trying to export a car

The bob was the best purchase I made for Import/Export. I use it for sourcing and selling. Never had the hook detach and with a bit of practice you can hook cars (even the one's on the move) like a boss. Maybe the title of this topic should have been named "My thought's on the Cargobob".

Or "I suck at the game and am frustrated by my own ineptitude.". The 'Bob is an incredibly useful tool in the hands of a skilled pilot:

p.s. It can easily outrun Buzzards if starting at height.

Getting the height right is the key thing though, since the buzzard spawn when you get a set distance away from where the car was (including height) you don't want to be flying up when they spawn. I've just about learned the height needed now, then quickly get moving forwards before spawning the buzzards, it's pretty easy after that (and quick if you learn how to give the 'bob a speed boost).

Non Funkable Token

You should practice with it. After that hooking cars becomes really easy.

The cargobob is awesome for I/E, you just gotta know when it's best to use it, partially use it or not use it at all. It's a huge time saver, the fastest possible thing you can do is leave your office by a cargobob, pick a car, hover above your warehouse for a quick animation and fly right back to your office for another one, with 1.5-2 minutes of CD to get that snack or whatever. When i have to refill 10-20 cars after a good sales day, i go right to the bob, happily spend 200$ on it every time i exit the office, even if there's already a chopper waiting.

My only complaint is that whenever i'm not alone in the session, random drops may and will occur due to lag between ISP's, so i mostly use it when i'm alone but if i absolutely must carry something with people in the session i fly low and never over water. also if the hook could be a bit more consistent that would be great.

If you have problems picking up a car, try picking it up from the side.

For example if the car's nose is facing west your bob's nose should be facing north (or south obviously).

That way you can see the car and it makes it easier to pick up.

Try it, it works for me.

The Cargobob is also unpractical for some missions, like the stunt jump one (as you'll be far from the heli after the jump, and getting back to it may take more time than just driving to the warehouse)

Well... You can pick up the car directly with the cargobob, you dont even need to take the jump.

I would say don't buy it. Takes a long time to pay for itself and driving is more fun IMO. Plus if even a level 1 notices you...it's blackhawk down all over again.

Hi people, I just want to share my experience with this peculiar helicopter that is on sale right now. I wasted 2 millons in the Jetsam version, thinking it would help me do vehicle export missions. I was very wrong. It's by far the worst purchase I ever made, and to be honest I'm pretty angry. I wish I could sell it.

The helicopter has many flaws that make it really unconvenient. First off, it's extremelly slow. Moving the car from the pickup position to your warehouse may be faster than driving the car, but getting to the car and attaching it to the heli takes longer than just going there in a buzzard and throwing yourself in a parachute. Even if the total time spent is lower with the cargobob, the difference is minimal.

The other problem is that the helicopter is extremely weak for its size. It takes just a few bullets to damage the engine, and you really don't want to transport a car with a damaged engine. It will probably fail when you're right above the car, crushing it and losing 8k in repairs. You may be able to avoid ground chasers, but it's useless in missions where you're chased by helicopters. The Cargobob is also unpractical for some missions, like the stunt jump one (as you'll be far from the heli after the jump, and getting back to it may take more time than just driving to the warehouse), the one with the bomb (as you can just drive to your warehouse while the bomb is being disarmed) and the one with the time trial (I'm not sure if you can do the race with a helicopter). It may help you sell your cars, but those missions are really easy even with the NPC chasers. Just find a good place to hide the car when the attackers come, kill the 4 waves and deliver the car. It takes less than 5 minutes.

Apart from that, moving cars with a cargobob is extremely boring. I/E missions are, in general, more fun than crate missions. The cargobob takes all the fun away. It's also quite dangerous, as it can suddently detach the car for no reason, making you lose time.

There are very few cases were it may be useful, but it still isn't worth one millon and half. If you're thinking in buying it "for the fun" (If there's any fun you can get from it), go ahead and buy the discounted one, but if you want to buy it for I/E, then don't. You'll regret it.

there are already threads about the faults of the cargobob, i.e. this one, in which i have also posted about my problem with the bugged hook:

http://gtaforums.com/topic/875734-cargobob-doesnt-work/

as you can read in that thread some of these problems can be solved by getting used to how it works and getting a good practice/experience of flying/controlling it.

if you get used to it it really is a good help for the import/export missions and in my opinion worth its money.

especially the selling missions are very easy and fast with it!

some of the sourcing missions are not really suited for using the cargobob but some of them are.

i have not yet experienced the "dropping glitch/bug" myself.

edit:

and it is not weak at all!

actually it's the best armoured helicopter in the game.

it survives one rocket/explosive and has a bullet resistent cockpit.

and when it starts smoking it will still be manouverible for quite a long time.

so it basically doesn't matter if it starts smoking, just continue flying with it.

I bought mine some months before I/E was announced, bought it for fun but its quite useful during some missions.

Usually I drive but if I have to deliver slow vehicles like a Roosevelt or the hard to control Mamba in an empty session I often use the Jetsam. I dont do I/E is sessions with randoms.

Also makes the barge mission better as you dont have to steal a bob first

the cargobob (pegasus vehicle) will spawn at one of the known heli pads.

so i would recommend to get it first before you got to your warehouse and land it somewhere in front of your warehouse.

then start the export work.

you can also directly leave with it from your office by choosing the option "leaving with a vehicle".

Still, I'd happily fork over 2M for it now if I didn't own it yet.

I bought it just because I could lol. I will never use it though.

That's the spirit. Too much f*cking joyless business sh*t in here, sometimes. Variety is the spice of life.

I dropped a sticky-bombed Asea into the photography shoot yesterday, killed all 5 guards, how much is that worth?

Exactly what I do.

Also, you can go directly to any car that's not under cover, including those with a bomb in it - pick up the car without getting in, it doesn't tell you that you have it but you can still drop it off at the warehouse saving you driving at speed and saving the 2 minutes it takes to disarm the bomb.

The warlord's car needs the key in all cases since it's always undercover. Once driven out of cover, pick it up with the 'bob.

Follow the Kuruma to the car, kill the guys, pick it up.

Land the bob by the pulled over car, kill the police, close the car door (saves the damage), phone lester, lose police, get bob and pick up car.

Pick up the cars on the move with the bob with the driver still in it, the slow ones are easy and great practice for the joyriders (as my above clip).

All cars can be directly picked up with the bob if not under cover. If under cover or inaccessible it needs moving to an accessible place.

^ You can make sure you get noticed by the Kuruma, it will then drive to the house much faster (it's not a mission fail to be seen). You then get pursued but you're at 600ft so who gives a f*ck.

And all the stunt jumps can be done by putting the 'bob where it lands, more or less. Vinewood sign is the furthest. Lago Zancudo use your Blazer Aqua to save swimming. Or yeah just pluck it off the ramp.

I've made over 15mill in the last week and a half primarily using the cargobob on import/export missions. A fork can suck at it's job too if you don't know how to use it. Exit warehouse with it for $200, steal a car, sell a car with the same bob, do a VIP mission. Each time you pick up a sourced car, gain all the altitude you need to make it to your warehouse BEFORE heading that direction. This way any helicopters that spawn will spawn below you to start, and you can head straight to your warehouse at top speed without having to slow down while you climb over mountains. If there are people to kill when stealing the car, park the bob off to the side and kill the npc's first. Position the car where it's easy to pick up, while calling lester if needed to remove want level. Get in bob, pick up car (sorry you suck at this part, takes practice), gain alot of altitude. Even if the buzzards spawn, they will be below you so climb for a bit longer, then head straight for the warehouse. You might get shot up slightly some of the time, but not all the time if you're good. You should be able to use one bob per round of stealing/selling/VIP most of the time, if your good. I use the bob as much as possible. Even the car bomb ones if i can get away it. For the race ones, as I'm getting close to the marker, I'm calling pegasus for my bob, and requesting my buzzard from securo serve. I hit the marker, get in the buzzard, get the bob, pick up the car, gain altitude, head to warehouse. Sounds long, but it saves alot of damage on the car not driving it from up north with nps's chasing you. For the barges, park the bob on the island, snipe the npc's pick up car with bob, GAIN ALTITUDE, after buzzards spawn keep climbing until you're sure you can clear the mountains, but don't climb too long or the buzzards will reach your altitude. If you need extra speed once you head out, shed some altitude to help you gain some speed. It's a balancing act between clearing the mountains, and out running the buzzards.

Also the off shore and car meet can be done with buzzard.

Land your bob close to the objective, call in your buzzard.

Blow 'em to hell, get back in bob pick up car.

You won't really appreciate the Cargobob until you have to bring a Roosevelt from up north after winning the time trial races.

I can second this. Generally, missions involving slower vehicles and shooting NPCs are a child's play with a Bob. The only mission I truly despise is the one actually requiring you to use a cargobob, then fly to Lago Zancudo. Boats are too far from the shoreline to snipe enemies out. You can either try to quickly grab the vehicle (being exposed to machine gun fire which is risky) or land somewhere relatively close, swim, then take out all of the enemies and swim back for your heli.

Or you can just land the Bob on the beach, have buzzard delivered through interaction menu and use it to kill everyone on the boat, pick up the Bob again and collect the car

Quote phucked up...

Literally every mission is more efficently done by using the Buzzard, except the Offshore Mission, which you want to cancel anyway. Cargobob is useless. The Cargobob is slower than driving the car, how can it be a timesaver?
