People are going way too crazy about next DLC.
Im afraid that may end up with a wave of disappointment when DLC will roll out.

Building on the comments about the New DLC.

I don't understand why people get so angsty and crazed over the exact date and time a new DLC drops. We all know a new DLC is coming this month. Smuggler's Run is over. The holidays are coming. There's a historic trend of new content releasing in December and Rockstar themselves actually told us they'd drop something for December earlier this year.

But that's not enough for some people. If there's no news tomorrow on what the update is or what the exact release date is, some folks are gonna go crazy. And for what?

Pretty much everyone is going to try out the new DLC - regardless.

People are going to grind and save money for the new DLC - regardless.

People are going to be just as hype - regardless - whether the content drops tomorrow, a week from now or three weeks from now.

With or without this information, nothing is actually going to change. So my question is, what difference does it make?

Freemode mayhem and blowing each other up with weapons-grade vehicles is EXTREMELY overrated - not least by R*.

Some of the best times I've had in GTAO have come from taking all the toys exclusive to Online, plus the open-ended structure, but treating it like a regular GTA game, more like GTA III.

Feel free to disagree, y'all, but the most fun I've had in all the time Gunrunning and Smuggler's Run have been out? Ignoring ALL of that stuff completely, buying a Chino, and just enjoying cruising through fictional LA, with the occasional dip into the old contact missions for nostalgia's sake.

Some days, GTAO feels like a mess of incompatible nonsense, and it's all too easy to think it's been ruined as a result - but it's not hard to strip all that back, act like it doesn't exist, and remember why you got hooked on the game in the first place... :music:

The Lazer is definitely worth the 6.5 milli price tag.

I'm legitimately curious why you think so. You can steal one for free from Fort Zancudo whenever you want, so buying one only gets you the ability to paint it and spawn somewhat nearby(not even next to you as it still has designated zones it spawns at). Those two extra perks don't seem like they're worth 6.5 mil at all.

I wouldn't say it's worth it technically, or from a practical standpoint. But I don't think its price is a problem myself.

It's a very, very powerful vehicle that people b*tched about for years (in many cases rightfully so to be honest lol) - how come all of a sudden people want to see them everywhere and for them to be affordable?

People say, "Oh the Hydra's better, it does everything!" - then okay, stick with the Hydra.

The Lazer will destroy the Hydra in a dogfight, and is easier to dive bomb with. That's why it's more expensive than the Hydra. And that's also why I'd go as far as to say I'm glad it's more expensive than it. Hopefully it'll cut down on the spamming.

That said, trying to balance stuff by making it expensive - in a game with micro-transactions and money glitches all over the place - doesn't really work out so well.

Still, those who think it's useless can stick with their Hydra. Those who know it beats the Hydra in a dogfight - they can opt for a Pyro or the like (which will beat the Lazer in a dogfight). Or use the explosive sniper, or one of the other many counters they've since added to fight it.

I don't know. I feel like it's just a bandwagon thing. Buy it; don't buy it - what's the big deal?

Very much getting that feel of the 'old days' with these MC contracts dude. Up to 8 of us just pinging about, making some nice cash so the pressure there is off, and just having some fun knowing some little sh*t isn't gonna be the fly in the ointment, you know?.

I give the game so many passes though, but it for me is just about the best game I've ever played. Is it weird that I too have had some of my worst gaming experiences here too?.

I do my best to either be alone or with players that have a similar feel/approach to me, like you said, kind of keeping it all as close to the GTA I know and love, growing up with the game.

The possibilities going forward for me have grown, though I have mine done, even heist challenges are being mentioned... Music to my ears.

Still reluctant to restart these businesses or have players help me with them. I've been burnt a good few times, plus I really don't need them for money in-game when I do need to make up a few bucks.

Since my return, I've pushed myself to be more friendly, approachable and accepting of all really. I'll try with anyone, and have really seen things get better for me at the moment. I hope this can last for sure.

But the thing that I'm struggling with is these f*cking businesses, really causing a bit of arseache really. I mean, I have friends that won't do these contracts as they are too boring and grinding, yet all the while hiding in MTU made sessions 'offline' grinding the piss out of crates, cars, bikers, bunkers, and hangers. I wouldn't mind, but these same folk are clamming, and I mean clamming for me to join them in a public session to help glitch sessions, so I can sell their glitched MC drugs etc.

As I said, I'm more accepting, but to be a patsey for a cheat... C'mon people. I said in my post that I'm running INVITE ONLY!.

I appreciate and respect the bunker is running a little quicker, and any commitment to research and such, I do. But I explicitly said I'm away from freemode for a spell. But alas, won't stop 'em trying...

I'm too simple-minded for all the bullsh*t, I'll just call it out. But I don't wanna go down 'that' road, so I've learned to ease on my reactions, just, well, it can frustrate when people mistake, or try to take the piss out of kinder intentions.

All wanna do is have fun, help, and earn some cash. But the greed in this game...

Off the charts.

Sorry I had a little ramble in the end here, lol... Kind of just got to typing... But I must say, I've read many a comment here dude, and a lot of what you post I agree with, but better. You put things better than I and many could, and some of the language you use, yeah, I've learned a few words too, lol.

Peace, hoping December does add to the great side to GTA more and more.

The Karuma is underrated.

FTFY.

... or...

Karooma, even Koomar... (It's not the funny movie character, lol).

I mean, honestly (Austin Powers, lol). These cats, make me laugh with the different spellings/pronouncing.

Also, is it 'Wagner' or 'Vagner'... Like Volkswagon etc. Don't help, classic times

I think R* is wise to not have a stupid hipster themed update around Christmas time. This is a time for real content, not space wasting, filler. They know that a bunch of cheap, hipster crap, is not going to garner shark card sales, nor is it going to be enjoyed by the majority.

R* needs to stick with what's working on the business sheet.

Biggest myth online: literally everything rockstar does to the game they do so to boost shark card sales.

It's easily the dumbest thing I read on the forums. Do people think it's cool or something to just say "blame it on shark cards" ?

I mean, they're fast, but the only reason both jets are so good is because of their bullsh*t, OHK, infinite, explosive deaty beams.

And when I mean good, I mean broken.

My very unpopular opinion is that dripfeeding content is a good idea that extends the life a DLC.

I also think anyone who advocates for a game with radar/blips/hud turned off permanently should never consider a career in game design. Not sure how truly unpopular this opinion is tbh.

I agree on all counts. I prefer having some optional paid dlc as opposed to none.

And as far as no blips in a map this big...would be a horrible idea.

Not that unpopular, I agree to a certain extend, having a regular stream of "releases" can surely motivate players to keep playing when done right.

What I don't agree with is locking half an update of highly desirable vehicles (like the Hunter and the Lazer) behind a timewall, even worse when such vehicles are featured in both the trailer and certain missions.

^ Not a deathmatch fan?.

The achievements for deathmatches are among the few I still have left to unlock. The times I try almost always lead me to parkour/spawn trap user created crap. The content creator is great but the way the user created content can't be filtered out

makes deathmatches unplayable for me. If there were double $ on R* created deathmatches I would enjoy the quickly filled lobbies of average players.

As for the point I figure you are making about no blips.... it's fine for certain modes that are confined to a small area of the map but in regular freeroam it would be boring for the majority of players. The map is too big and the pace of engagement would be too slow for most.

That's cool, we each have our preferences so am sure we'll always find something to nitpick, lol.

Also, when online, pause the game, go to online, settings, and near the bottom you can choose the type of job you can search for when on call. Set it to R* created only dude... No more crap.

Though, to get to the LTS's that players created, you'll have to switch it back. IMO, though simple in their creations, quite fun games.

Similar to this - I think that drip-feeding is an admittedly-imperfect solution go a couple of problems: namely 1) making bigger, more substantial updates with more things in them, and 2) not having three months of radio silence between updates.

Thing is, the certification process for updates (having to jump through all of the hoops for Microsoft and Sony) takes about two weeks, IIRC - that means all the stuff included in each update has to be ready by then. That's part of the reason why 2014 updates were only maybe 4 vehicles and some other items - put out an update every month, with a two-week lead time for certification, and that's a lot of speed-bumps between releases. Meanwhile, do one big update designed to last the same three months as three 2014-sized updates, and that's only one two-week certification submission to factor into the schedule - you can work on all the stuff for a single release unbroken, and then just spin them out using your own tunables.

There's no perfect way to handle what gets drip-fed, and how much/how often, either - one vehicle a week means there's always something in the Newswire every week, but stretches content thinly. Do it monthly, and that's still weeks of no news - and ups the odds of having to wait longer for specific things. And if you put all the most hype-worthy things out on Day 1, then people are going to get bored by the drip-feed items, so there's no benefit from them in terms of having something newsworthy on a regular basis.
