Worst in game hour ever...

Right call me naive, i mean this may just be what GTA online is all about but ... To set the scene... I have had the game for about 2-3weeks on ps4 just started the online mode 3 days ago (so an amateur with no knowledge or skill). Today i finish work early, house to myself, buzzing! Lets play some gta v. Take this story as a rant but please read in a jokey tone.. and a British accent.
I am a big fan of just shooting and the fighting modes, kill quota, power play ones like that! Not keen on stunting, racing and especially not parkour. I mean wtf is parkour on a game where i struggle to walk anyway! So this brings me onto the first "event" of my crazy hour. I get on the phone, think right I've been playing adversary (whatever that means) modes lets try this death match mode (that sounds shooty and fighty) but no i was very very wrong and i get put into a parkour death match?! Now im a good sport so play to the end (kind of)!..
I start by trying to play and figure out the point. So i have to get from here to there, in some crazy game physics with a bloke that can't jump cool! After committing suicide 50+ times, i am getting frustrated, but i am patient, keep persisting. Then a new point to the match is revealed, aswell as crazy physics someone gets a rifle.. from some higher level, from the Gods of parkour skill and guards the respawn point shooting every poor bastard that has been thrown into the game, unintentionally. (Because i mean who the f*ck would choose to spend their time doing this). Anyway people are leaving the game, eventually there is 3 of us left, but like i said i am persistent (and don't fully understand how to quit midgame) .. i will get to the end (with 7 minutes of torture left) i just stand there. The person at the respawn has even given up now and stopped killing me! But then, like randy orton, the mysterious 3rd person appears from the heavens, for the last minute or so and has a go, clearly not interested in killing each other they just rack up kills on me, BUZZING!
So match ends i come 5th..I obviously vote free play, get me out of here! The two "possible cheaters" vote replay we go our separate ways....

now that was long but only the first 20 mins of my painful hour which includes mysterious invites and a taser. If this gets some responses i will continue, if not i will not waste my time or yours... please give me tips on how to avoid these situations, how to parkour, how to do anything related to this story. Oh and most importantly wtf was even going on apart from my kill ratio taking a blasting and two bellends gaining!

You got thrown into a user-created parkour deathmatch, generally the aim of these are for both teams to start out unarmed then climb to a certain point to get a set of weapons to wipe the other team out. They're not usually very well balanced but see a lot of playtime...for some reason. A lot of people dislike them from what I see.

 

If you want to avoid playing stuff like that in future, you can your options menu, there you'll find a tab for "Online",which has an option to filter only official (Rockstar created) modes. Keep in mind this only applies to the "Quick Job" option on your in-game phone and you can still get invited to user-created jobs elsewhere.

This is someone's wet dream self made death match. A user created this match with the intention of putting the weaponry out of reach and being the first person to gain advantage.

 

This has been going on since the first day user designed content was enabled. Avoid most of these DMs and adversary modes. Definitely don't stick around and be someone's target practice/ kd buff.

Hope you disliked it when you have the chance to rate the job! Anything with Parkour is it's name is a load of rubbish made by a kid who doesn't even know what parkour means. They're deathtraps, they have been around since the creator launched and they are pathetic.

Also, if you're already in the middle of such a crappy match, you can quit by pulling up your phone, clicking on the middle icon and pressing square(on PS).

Here are some good tips:

 

-TRUST NOBODY!

 

-User created content is bullsh*t;

 

-You will need money...Lots of money;

 

-Go to ammunation and buy the Special Carbine and land mines or pipe bombs until you have unlocked the sticky bombs;

 

-If you like free roam a lot, you can make money on it, but you will need to buy an office and some warehouse, that will cost ya! We got some threads here to help you out with that;

 

-Dont bother with premium races until you're good enough and have the appropriate vehicle to race on them;

 

-Contact missions are a good revenue until you're able to make your own heists, the heists can only be accessed if you have a high-end apartament or stilt house, and yes, these cost money;

 

-Yatchs and boats are useless;

 

-Buy the Nagasaki Buzzard attack helicopter, its a MUST HAVE!

 

-Half of the cars on Warstock and Cache are useless, exception being the Insurgent;

 

-Buy the Dump.

Change your filter settings when using the quick job feature. It's in the pause menu. Keep it to Rockstar created and you'll avoid death traps.

But don't be disheartened. GTA online is a great game and this should be chalked off as a bad gaming experience.

All new players should be required to sit in a cheap apartment and observe the rest of the lobby on their tv for a minimum of 2-4 hours before even thinking of venturing out into Free Roam.

User made content have always been f*cked up. Prime example are the ones with 999999RP $99999999 in the title or description.

And you know it's the user who made that content always sending out invites to everyone who'll accept.

And then they just get the advantage to get a petty win. It's pathetic.

 

However*, welcome to GTAO, The best tip I could ever give to a newcomer is to stay in passive cause after a heist or a mission is finished we all spawn on the same spot. And that's when motherf*ckers get double-triple kills.

too many cars out of the give cars to friends glitch.

 

I've learnt this weekend every job quit counts a bad sport point and too many will get you the dunce cap.

 

I had to endure a killing spree in one of these on Sunday because if I'd have quit the job I'd be wearing a dunce cap right now...

I read the first few sentences and immediately knew what this was a about. As someone else said, it's a player created death trap. They've been around since the beginning. It's best to just ignore them. It's usually some 12 year old punk camping with all the weapon spawns.

You can set the game so it only presents you with Rockstar created or verified jobs via the main interaction menu. It's great no more fixed races, pakor, XP glitchers or grifters just trying to get a high KD ratio.

I'll be honest, when I first started GTA online, I didn't have a bastard clue. Didn't know what these random invites on my phone were and what I was getting myself into.

 

A lot of stuff you learn about GTA online is by playing (a lot of wondering what the hell i'm doing) and reading up on the internet (which is why I joined)

 

I only signed up a few weeks ago and now i'm helping people iv'e met through the game with heists, running CEO missions and have other people helping me out with CEO stuff also.

 

As mentioned above, don't be disheartened. Just don't trust randoms, that's both in free mode and with the completion of heists

i know this pos that always play this death traps to boost his stats, so a few months ago there was a teleport glitch and lo and behold the pos send me a invite to a deathtrap match, i accept, join and proceed to die a few times, then we he was close to the gun, i teleport to the gun and "surprise mothef*cker"

Welcome to the game and I'm sorry you had to experience that.

 

However, I would also like to add that not all user created content is horribly made or riddled with backhanded advantages for the creator such as this one; there's honestly a lot of quality user created content out there, but it often gets lost and neglected due to the sheer number of these rigged maps.

 

If you're serious about playing jobs that haven't the official R* stamp, you can find many on this very forum or you can perhaps join a crew where such jobs are hosted on a regular basis. Even then, I'll sometimes take an invite to a random custom map if the title/description seems reasonable, and there is always the option to back out and leave if it is indeed a trap or poorly made.

 

Just avoid anything with the words "RP", "Hack", "Parkour", "Money/$$$", and similar variations. Good luck!

Nothing to be ashamed of, you have just started playing the game. You will soon learn what invites to accept and which ones to avoid like the plague. IMO you have to play a user created Parkour DM just to learn how bad they are otherwise you may always wonder what they are about.

That's me when I find myself in a full public lobby. I'll play deathmatches or races for hours with 29 other players in the mix, but stick me in a public server with the same amount of people and I'll have a borderline anxiety attack.

You people seem to play with the worst players of the whole GTAO community. I never use Passive Mode in freemode unless I'm afk. Most of the time I roam with my car near other players, and play my musical horn in a friendly manner. I never kill random people unless they attack me. Most people that attack are newbies who die easely with a couple of C4. Even If they manage to kill me, I just get my hydra and start bullying them until they ragequit. Some people are quite friendly, and I spend more time talking with them than killing. I also fly helicopters all the time, and most people don't bother trying to attack me. Freemode is not that bad. If you want to have some fun and get a few bucks without having to kill other players for no reason, join an MC club and do some contract missions.
