Anyone else think you should be able to adjust privileges per hierarch

One think that always bothered me is the privilege selection available for crew members. Surly a crew leader should have a say in what each title can allow members to change and do in your crew such as promotion of members and emblem changing. There's already a lack of different titles to distinguish members from one enough but it's debatable if say you think one member should have commissioner title but you don't want them to have the ability to demote members without even asking. Maybe have a minimum requirement that raises per title but at least some choice.

The main reason why I have a problem with this is the privs that come from being a commissioner. True, you'll have less control than the leader, but the fact is you can still even kick members from the crew. The issue with this is that just one wrong choice in commissioner and they can kick everyone from your crew over night. At least set up a 'request to kick members' option so the leader can actually decide if the person could be kicked or not or limit it to one kick per day.

Idk, what are you pep's opinion?

Trust no one.

Getting in to a popular crew with good members is a good start. There are lots of good crews here on the forums that are well organized. Facade, the Official GTAF Crew, GTAF All Stars, PBMO just to mention a few.

I agree that the crew leader should have the final word regarding crew kicking.

That's why I just made my own crew. I never actively recruited but somehow have a few in it with me. It's honestly a waste of time to seek out other crews. If you need one for invites, just join one of the big ones (not ign or you'll lose all respect) like Los Santos bangers or G4. Alot of children, but alot of invites too.

I agree, also, that a Crew Leader should be running the show and have final say.

But, would it also be wise to implement a "Vote to Kick Leader" option, by which the group can unanimously vote to kick a lousy leader?

Then, like in any hierarchy, the next in command moves up.

Just a thought.

I made my own crew 'LOOK' back in Nov 2013, and even though I've been invited to bigger and better crews since (my secondary crews), I still stick with LOOK for one main reason.

My crew rank is 865 and similar to my player rank of 885, which validates me as a genuine player and not a transfer or mod-abused cheat.

Joining other crews is a risk for experienced players as they can be pushed around and generally abused.

If the crew is any good nobody should in the end be kicked without the leader getting a reason why afterwards.

Besides that, i am guessing it is mandatory that the crew leader trusts the commisioner like his own.

I have wished from day one that they would have fully integrated Social Club with the game, so that you could more easily connect with players in your crew in game. My experience with my crew (now about 530) is that only a small handful of players even look at the web page, meaning for most I can't connect with them. Furthermore, many players have different PSN ID's and Social Club ID's, so simple things like kicking crew members who kill other members can become impossible. The crews and SC could have been an awesome idea if Rock Star would have fully integrated it. As it stands now, it is a half-assed incomplete idea, almost completely useless. I mean, most of my crew members I meet online have no idea that they have been promoted, that title shows nowhere in game. How cool would a Lieutenant's patch on your sleeve be for example?

So far, I have only went as far as to give the title of commissioner to one member and that is a close friend of mine I know personally that admins our forums/website.

Yeah, it also always bothered me how detached the crew is from game too social club. For example, I could join a random crew member and he'll have no idea I'm his crew leader. Fun story, joined a random lobby and a kid was on the mic, turned out he was in my crew, so I stuck my mic on and was like "hey, just noticed you're in my crew" but the kid was like, you don't own the crew" so I said I could kick him to prove it and he was like "wait, no".

The crew format is a bit broken; unless you're in a smallish or medium sized group (say 5-120 total), it can be difficult unless the players are extremely active, organised, and there are good communication standards with members. In larger crews or even some medium sized crews where nothing is organised and there are no clear standards in regards to operations or what the crew does whilst in game are often a waste.

I have my own crew that I use primarily for custom paint, but I know all of the members quite well and I consider everyone an equal no matter their official title--there is no traditional hierarchy system; it's just a group of friends who game together regularly and we're all welcome to use the crew tags of our choice when or even when we're not gaming with one another.

Yeah though, it would be nice if you could control certain privileges among certain members and groups, but it's better to at least kind of know the people in your group instead of just spamming random crew invites to people you've never heard of, communicated with, or gamed with.

I'm very picky though; I'll gladly join a friend's crew if I fully trust the person and we have the same interests in regards to game play, but I'm not going to waste my time with the ones who have outrageous rules, are full of people on power trips, don't share my gaming interests, have unsavoury members, etc.

A crew can be a great thing or it can be a dreadful experience full of drama and chaos. I prefer the former. :)

I'm not really into that. I'm a commissioner in my crew, and the only one who actually plays and is aware enough of the crew, my leader can't play or be active in the crew. So it's my duty to demote, kick, and invite new players. We are a small crew of family/friends.

But i can understand the problem on a huge crew.

Not everyone knows "that" player. And makes it even harder if they have different RSC and PSN/Xbox IDs.

Why I don't agree. A friend started my crew and he quit playing about 6 days later but I had him promote me to commish so I could have control over the crew without having to remake the whole damn everything.

Edit: I'm still commissioner of the original crew he made in oct of 2013.

Op is right it would be better if crew leader can choose specific roles and rights.

Basically because rockstar didn't integrate the sc to gtao ingame me and my crew basically set up a hierarchy from crew leader to co crew leader, top commissioner" 2nd comm, top lt and 2nd lt. we created a group of checks and balance.

Essentially we made our custom hierarchy, stated it on our site and no one with the ability to kick does not so unless consulting with everyone in a kik group of top crew and it be justified kick.

Running great but we wouldn't be forced to do all this if rockstar did what op suggested and allow for custom titles, abilities versus being restricted like the social club is now.

TL;DR- social club sucks as it is now needs for features to better micro-manage
