Low fps with GTX 1070 card?

Hi all. I've been playing for the first time today and I can barely get my fps above 60 (usually around mid 50s most of the time). While this is still playable its less than ideal, especially considering I have a 120hz screen and GTX 1070 card. My cpu is also an i7-6820hk.

As for game settings, everything is on 'very high' with 4x SMAA and 16x AF, all advanced settings are off. Tried with and without v-sync, doesn't make any noticeable difference.

According to this GTX 1070 benchmark (they have 2x MSAA instead of 4x but I have low fps with both), the game should be running much better than it is for me:

Could the latest drivers be an issue?

Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks.

They have a MUCH better processor (Core i7 5960X , about 40% difference) than you, thats why there is so much difference in fps between you and they

There is simpe way to gain extra FPS - just lower grass quality to "high" and and enjoy. Also, resolution have a big impact on framerate.

Would changing the grass quality have that big of an impact on fps? I'm playing in 1080p.

yes. high will work. the grass at very high is managable on my gtx 960 with i5 4590 just fine, but ultra tanks it pretty good, so you should be fine with very high grass tbh, I think the AA is hurting it the most, which you really don't need anything but fxaa for this at 1080p so you can turn other things up and enjoy.

You can try alt+enter to switch to window, then again to switch back to fullscreen to make sure you are getting your top fps before changing any settings.

Alt+enter is the fastest way to reinitialize the d3d and doing this tends to improve FPS, just do it each time you launch for best performance. You can test this by going to a grassy area where you probably notice the most dips - alt enter twice, and watch your fps improve dramatically. May still need to tweak some settings.

You do want vsync. If you must have maxed graphics, you can do half vsync and it looks great but 30 fps is up to you if you want that.

I get 60fps solid but I only use FXAA (and I use the nvidia settings panel one instead of ingame) - other AA will hurt performance, don't really need it depending on the size of your monitor.

Yes, there is HUGE impact in fps, like really, really huge, especially on countryside. Just try and you will see : )

Edit: Same goes for MXAA which is really resources unfriendly
