How will rockatar ensure GTAO is "cheater" free in 2017?

So I'm sure everyone in the community is well aware of the new update on the news wire where Rockstar States 2017 they'll focus on stopping cheaters modders and anyone playing the game with an unfair advantage through mods, so I'm assuming mod accounts as well

Now my question to the community what measures do you think Rockstar will take to control the online community?

I think they do another money wipe but what do you guys think what are any possible consequences that Rockstar will do to those they find or cheated and what measures do you think Rockstar will take to catch them in the future and in the present?

Just to make it clear this is not a topic about if cheating or modding is right or wrong I don't care I'm just asking the opinion of the community how you think rockstar will handle punishing and catching those labeled cheaters by rockstar or modders or thosr with modded accounts?

Please stay on topic and don't turn this into a flame War between morality over how people play a video game and whats right and wrong

They won't devote the resources to ensure this. If you read the newswire, they specifically mentioned players sending in game reports. Don't expect much more than this.

I understood that excerpt like them thanking the players for making it less cheater infested but if what you say is true then wow pathetic.

such a rich company and they can't even control their own game environment when they're making such a big deal about it.

I'm just going to keep reporting like normal. I see an obvious modded account, I report.

They can't "fix" it the way it needs to be due to the inherent architecture that the game is built upon.

They can do little things and they can stop transfers and ban accounts that have been reported, but to really eradicate scripts and other mods they have to start from scratch. Perhaps they will learn their mistakes from Online and design its replacement (GTA6 for lack of a better working name)

The line that got me was - helping us crack down on cheaters and malicious hackers by reporting them through the game’s menu. -

In-game menu. Exploited by people already filing false reports. I doubt they'll be checking as much.

But after bikers they did say bans would be a one strike and your out deal. Depends if they check properly or just auto-ban for a certain amount of reports, or do nothing.

What do you think is their primary objective? I mean, if not banning the cheaters doesn't result in thousands of people abandoning the game, why make that a priority?

According to important sources, Rockstar continues to be on the lookout for cheaters; however, too often they overlook the obvious and focus on the trivial.

Rockstar fanboy. I think their primary objective is increasing shark card sales by making modded accounts less frequently used

I'm assuming ofcourse but all their moves and prioritization point to shark card profits being their main concern and glitches that affect or mess with the overall game experince comes second if ever lol.

This is what scares me a bit. It's not nearly as bad as it was back in 2013-14, but salty f*cks and people that just don't know any better WILL report you just for killing them, or because you have a higher rank/KD than them. My rank isn't even crazy, only +560. Maybe a new player that is progressing slowly doesn't believe my rank is legit, so they report. It DOES happen. Hell, I've been called a cheater since rank 200.

I'm not terribly worried but there is some level of paranoia being around other players. Never know.. Maybe someone notices you can't buy a beerhat and reports me for wearing mine. It's that kind of sh*t I'm worried about.

Reminds me of players that consider anything over rank 500 (sometimes less) modded

Like dude, I've been playing since launch

You make a fair point...it is worrying for us high ranking long timers since 2013 launch that we may get lumped in with those reported because another player is being salty or just can't believe we're legit because they assume it's modded.

Yeah I would like to believe that there's some kind of fail safe in place, but hearing stories and with the system mainly being automated it doesn't instill confidence.

Well they could if they want to. Just update the code. The question is: why now? And would they really put the effort in it?

I think the system is completely automated, maybe they have someone routinely checks if the system works but that's it.

It's clear rockstar is protecting their shark cards profits and prioritizing other games and they seem to want to cease interacting with the playerbase with how they limited the newswire comments, rockstar support and this ban system like you can't even get a human to help you if your banned.

Especially since they put a lot of emphasis on in game reports. They even underlined it to grab the reader's attention.

The only real way to sort the wheat from the chaff with reports is to have someone physically check every one preferably with video evidence but that's far from realistic regardless of budget.

I just hope not to many innocents get caught in the net.

IMO It's clear they rely on players too much to keep their game clean. I find it pretty hard to believe they'll get rid of the real cheaters, they'll just continue to decrease the ways to make easy money as they claim their "fixes" are made to get rid of cheaters and create a balanced atmosphere.

lets be honest, the only way R* can ensure a cheaters free 2017 is if they simply shutdown the game...

they can stop modded accounts but that wont stop people from cheating.

^^^ This right here, if you don't want to get caught, don't get reported. It's obvious they fell safe there will be no mod menu on current gen consoles so they're just gonna block account transfers from old gen and hope players report all high rank / fake KD accounts and do the hard work for them. LOL

Sucks transfering characters will soon be gone. Now i only will be left with 5 billionair accounts and 2 in with just a couple of hundreds of millions :(.

Seriously, if me driving this is tickling your fanny, then thats your problem.

Impossible. There will always be neckbeards with more than enough free time due to not having sex to figure out a way around any anti cheat measures that can be conceived.

If anyone having a neckbeards it will be those ligit guys grinding their lives away for some fake R* cash. Cheaters can just play once a week, go on spending sprees/destruction rampages, have fun then call it a day and do whatever they feel like.

The majority of cheaters on pc literally spend hours and hours going from one lobby to the next looking to ruin someone's day. F them all!

Only way R* can totally stop cheating is to stop relying on P2P connections for Online, which is blatantly not going to happen this late into the game's lifespan.
