Still no hydra sale. Can't get one with my second character and I'd really like one for her. Haven't done the mission to unlock it yet.

 

Maybe I'll buy an office for my second character though. That might be fun, but I was never planning on making her a ceo. My main is the CEO. I play on my second just for fun. We'll see what happens tonight, but, I don't think these sales are for me. Second has the buzzard already and she doesn't collect cars. Main character has all these toys.

^^ R* can generate tens of discount weeks for the foreseeable future offering numerous "things" without any new DLC (just press the "random discount week" generator and post).

 

...just saying this isn't a reasonable means of judging whether or not the game is fading... If GTA Online is surviving, it's mostly because new blood keeps jumping into the game; a lot of older players are done with it.

^^ No disrespect to R* on this, but all I can do is just laugh. Truth is they're reaping the consequences of their own poor decision(s) since day one. Three+ years into GTA Online, no attempt at built-in anti-cheat since day one, and mod menus (at least on the PC) are as rampant as ever. And though to a lesser extent, consoles will always have their own form of cheaters too (using glitches, etc.)

 

Not going to change anytime soon. The last few nights have been h*ll in some public sessions with what's going on (not as visible as summer 2015, but still very much there).

 

And yes, I know Invite-Only sessions are the "answer" per se, but some things can still only be done most easily via public sessions if you're into completing Daily Objectives.

But I was really hoping for better 2x payouts than this. I don't like any of these adversary modes - it's GTA online for little kids.

How about 2x payouts on the new VIP Jobs? To encourage us to buy and test the special vehicles like the Ruiner 2000, Armoured Boxville, etc... Seems like a missed opportunity.

That's great advice. Those that do should make sure they do it properly. Make sure you transfer your progress to your account and not your friends. May need to pay to subscribe to ps+ or find a free trial somewhere... still solid advice, IMO.

Boooooooo What they should say is "We know we were stupid and allowed modded accounts to transfer the last 2 years but were gonna disable them March 1st. It was our bad decision that allowed people to transfer for a year and a half with no limits what so ever."

I honestly don't believe them about the Ruiner 2000. IF it's that popular then people have just bought it for bragging rights and just leave it in their garage. Because I have only seen 3 Ruiner 2000s in all of FR since they dropped. Never even found a special vehicle mission to join, that was created just for it, during this last double $, either.

 

Also, supposed highest influx of players during December apparently is the cue to shut down transfers and whatnot because, why? The game is just too popular now? This whole thing stinks like dead fish...

Yes, you're right; I do think it's surprising that so many are playing--but again, they are new players jumping in. I base this on how many players I see in each session below, say, level 200.

 

I started in Oct. '14, so I'm not a veteran like release day players; but one of my characters is nearly 400; the other 300.

 

Don't get me wrong--I still enjoy freeroam in GTA Online (gang attacks are still one of my favorites, and I'm thankful for the addition of special vehicles); it's just frustrating to think of where this game could be with a little change of vision and infused resources.

 

I honestly think R* drastically (but perhaps understandably) underestimated the time, effort and personnel that would be required to keep GTA Online going in the long-term.

We've never needed to transfer our characters to unlock the content, but no one probably knows what will happen after that time, whether players will still be able to unlock the bonus or not.

The sudden boost of players is mostly accountable to the fact that a lot of people have bought/received a PS4 or XBone because of the major decrease in prices on both consoles.

Like Ive been saying for a while now. GTA Online is alive and well. Rockstar is keeping it fresh, because they know it will take a while to develop the next GTA. They wont be letting the cash cow walk away as more people are continuously playing the game. I say we all just enjoy GTA V and let Rockstar apply lessons learned in GTA V development and apply them to the next GTA for a truly mind-boggling game experience!
