How would the storyline have turned out if Claude was never betrayed b

So, at the end of III's storyline, Claude is stranded in the following conditions:

* Everyone in Portland hates him

* Half of the gangs in Staunton hate him

* A street gang in SSV likes him but right next to his turf there's some gang members who must absolutely f*cking hate him

* The Leones are after his head and send hitmen periodically to go after him

* His criminal record must be on fire (not that it matters a lot with GTA's policemen, but it still counts)

* TL;DR Almost no one likes him, half the city wants his head, and he's got no allies besides a street gang

None of which would've happened if Sal didn't betray Claude. Which leads to this topic. How would the story have turned out had Claude stuck with the Leone? And more importantly, why did Sal want to kill Claude after promising to 'have him made'?

A few ideas I've in mind to this question:

• He wouldn't have forged connections with Yakuza, leading him to Ray and further Donald Love. All these people have mission interests which led him to Catalina. I guess all these wouldn't have happened for him if he were with the Leones.
• Lots of hatred from enemy gangs, nonetheless. Triads were already hostile and Diablos didn't attack him even before betraying the Leones.
• He would have been a Yakuza target, maybe Yardies.
• Hoods weren't related to any gangs or allies in Staunton or SSV, so I guess the Red Jacks and D-Ice Missions would have still existed.
• Claude would have been another made like Toni and would spend most of time bringing the City under Leones influence.

Actually, I forgot which mission was it, but after a certain mission the Diablos start to attack you as well (just looked it up, it's Uzi Rider). Hell even if there was no Yardie strand of missions let's remember that in '98 the Diablos and Leones had a turf war and therefore hate each other, so they would attack him regardless

To answer your last question Sal tried to have the stud muffin known as Claude killed because he thought he was shagging Maria.

Well that could answer it. Although honestly I don't find it too convincing, since Sal didn't give a f*ck about Maria anyways dat Ted Bundy tho

Maybe Sal wanted Claude killed because he thought he couldn't trust him, or that Claude would betray him for someone else (like how he just killed Kenji for Donald Love). The dude's got trust issues, which probably started when he trusted CJ in San Andreas, only for him to rob his casino.

I think he became really paranoid after the events of San Andreas too. I remember him pointing a gun at Toni in LCS, and then stating he's paranoid.

He's paranoid. After Maria's small talk about Claude and her being an item he stopped trusting Claude and wanted him out of equation. Some notable characters who notably mentioned Salvatore being paranoid are Curly, Asuka & Miguel.
