Indentical Zentorno's with different speeds.

Playing tonight and we both drove zentornos that were set up exactly the same. Apart from the paint jobs they were the same car. Only my friends was much, much faster.

We tried different wheels and then the same wheels, we swapped cars. Nothing. His car was always faster than mine.

Can anyone explain this?

It wasn't affected by the old garage glitch that removed engine mods yet they appeared installed in LSC was it?

Playing pc? If so, his higher fps may be causing this. It's the stupid stuff that also gives your car a boost when going over the curbs.

He said they swapped cars and the outcome was the same, so it isn't fps.

Joe are you sure you have your car fully modded? I mean there was a glitch that sometimes removed ems and/or turbo upgrades.

Wait, so if one computer has better hardware to handle a higher FPS the player's car can go faster?

Talk about pay-to-win

Weirdly today I was timing my fully update cars on a created drag race and zentorno finished in better time than nero, t20, osiris.. losing only to Proto, hakuchou drag, 811 and Shotaro.

The most surprising thing in the video is that the distance between them is greater than a stock and a fully upgrade version of a car

Yes it is a fact. It isn't a huge difference, but if the right driver is behind the wheel, it can be pretty noticable. The time trial threads have many good examples of this.

It looks like my car is fully modded. But I used to have the truck horn on it and tonight it had the standard horn.

Will changing the engine mods down and then back up fix things?

Sorry, misread; Thought they swapped cars and his friend was always the faster one, while it was his friend's car that was always faster.

So yeah, might be leftover of the glitch.

Re-applying them should do the trick then. Though for me they all magically got their upgrades back without doing anything.

Which platform? If it is PS4, perhaps it is the R2 button of your controller--it can wear out through extended use and when that happens, it will often result in poor acceleration/speed. I've seen this happen before quite often, but was this the only car you tried?

If he did single player > multiplayer then the cars are faster.

I did this back on year 1 and my cars were fast.

Same for Xbox. One of my friends had a faulty controller and I would always pull ahead during a drag race with identical cars until he got a new controller.

I swapped my R2 with my R1 because I was way slower. Only have to do it in gta online every other game is fine :D If you go to the setting look for accessibility than button assignments. Than you can put it in the quick menu and change it for driving in less than 3 seconds.

I noticed 3 weeks ago my Zentorno that I had for almost a year and won more than 20 races with wasn't even fully modded. All upgrades were level 2 because I assume at the time I didnt reach the required levels for the other parts. But even with the lack of upgrades I was winning a lot. Weird or maybe it had something to do with catchup being on in some races.

He said they swapped cars and the results were the same ao it's not a trigger issue otherwise any car on his hand would be slower.

Ah, good point! I'm not sure then. The only time I've ever experienced this happening outside of a broken controller has been during a couple of motorbike stunt races, where my bike, despite being fully upgraded, could not keep up with any other bike on the track--even in a straight line. No idea why this happened, but it doesn't always happen. Other than it just being a random bug that disables your upgrades, I haven't a clue (unless you're on PC).

I recently discover my R2 was hurt. I'm not sure for how long, but I got a new controller & driving is fun again.

The best way to test triggers is on any bike with kers, it won't activate if the throttle isn't wide open.

it's taking everything I got not to turn that into a sex joke. Seriously though thanks for the tip that's good to know, all this talk of old triggers had me wondering if it was time for a replacement.

The way he worded it could mean both though, "his car" could mean his literal car, or it could mean the car he was driving.

I'm kinda curious now cause I don't know which one he meant after reading through the thread lol.

Edit: I take that back, thinking about it a bit more I'm going to assume since the thread being about his Zen being slower than his friends means he was in fact going faster when using his friends car, my mistake.

This was my exact first thought when i saw this thread. I've replaced the grommets under the triggers in two PS4 controllers on two separate occasions now, they're basically made to fail.

It probably is a remnant of the old glitch where you came out of the garage and lost engine upgrades though.

Not a huge difference? The differnece between a 60 fps and a 144 fps setup is annoyingly huge. I leave lobbies when i remember a 144 fps "cheater" because there is absolutely no point in racing against those. Its not like being in a slower car trying to compete against someone in a faster car. Its like playing against ppl with a turbo mode. No fun here. We are talking about a few seconds per lap!

Lol well yeah when you are talking those kinda numbers. I was more referring to the common mans setup ya know. 30-40 fps vs 50-60 fps. Anyways I don't have any actual experience, my computer runs at potato speeds, just going by the videos I've seen here.

Damnit!!!! Now I gotta tell my wife she was right and I was wrong. She's always INSISTED that because my character is higher rank I can take more damage in gun fights and my cars are faster.....FML

:(

Edit:

I see some responses that mention different machine set ups but me and the mrs are on xb1 with exact setups.

Your cars are not faster with a higher rank. The taking more damage thing is true though.

You been around for a while so I'm not sure if you are joking or not lol

Did your friend double clutch for the speed boost? it looked like he did from the exhaust spit.

We need more info, which platform you and your friend are playing?

If it's PS4 then you should check your R2 trigger, the DS4 has an issue with the P2 trigger getting damaged after long t8me of use.

If it's on PC then check yours and your friend's FPS, difference on FPS plays a difference in the car's acceleration and top speed.

It isn't either of those things. He said they switched cars and it was the same. His car (the car he owns) is always slower.

And yeah, it does appear that his friend is double clutching, it wouldn't spit fire like that if he was driving normally.

Joe I think your friend is trying to trick you. Try it against a different Zentorno.

Solid Scorpion

Like others have said it's probably R2.

Even with stripping, modifying and rebuilding my DS4 (countless times) I was still only getting 80/90% throttle.

Buying a new one saw me wheelspinning all over the place again.

@ Jakemo

Yeah they're either built to fail and/or just poorly designed.
