It seems that i can no longer gets any kills on deathmatches.I recently switched from gamepad to mouse because players said it was better to use keyboard and mouse in deathmatch than gamepad because of faster aim but I'm not doing any better on keyboard and mouse.I've tried to turn my sensitivity settings up but i still can't get kills.I might as well stop playing deathmatches for good because of the Frustration.Any tips to get better?

Probably not a wise choice, but have you tried in autoaim?

Chances are if you used to play with a controller but switched to K&M you might still be joining auto-aim matches. Check your aim type & switch to a free-aim lobby if you stick with K&M, otherwise you'll be going up against players using auto-aim with controllers.

One good way to perfect your sensitivity is in the shooting range. I adjust mine a bit when playing survival too if it feels off a bit, that way you test the movement and the shooting together (I play with a controller though).

That said, I'm no expert and I don't play GTAO competitively. I could probably use tips myself.

Assisted Aim with a controller is some-what better than kb/m.

But kb/m is better in a Free Aim session.

I get my ass handed to me in a free aim session when playing with friends,

but when someone attacks me in an Assisted Aim session I go "You in my house now".

It's easier to score headshots when it auto-aims to the body and you nudge the right stick up to hit the head.

How many deathmatches have you played?

a lot

I would chalk it up to lag or connectivity issues either on your end, the other players end or Rockstar's servers; in rare cases it's a mix of all 3!

Or the other players really are more skilled than your or maybe the other players have better hardware (controllers, mouse, keyboard, etc) that gives them an advantage.

"A lot" isn't an answer. Are we talking a couple hundred or several thousand?

Experience makes all the difference.

I used to be really bad at Deathmatches, too, but I figured something out that really helped me:

Stop Going Into Deathmatches As Though You Are In Free Roam!
I would join a Deathmatch and constantly look at the HUD map to see what blips popped up and then head in that direction.

What I started doing, is ignoring the map, being quick-yet-stealthy and take cover a lot.
I also started flanking to the outsides a lot more, strafing while keeping my eyes open for any movement.

For me, paying closer attention to the scene in front of me and not to the distracting elements helped me get better.

And by that, I mean, I'm still really bad, just not the worst in the match – I can stand my own, pretty decently. :)

Hope this was a little helpful! Cheers! :)

Might also take a look at your's and others connection, lag plays a major difference in a match.

Whenever I join one and I see laggers, I bolt out of there real fast.

I just want to give you tips so you can improve your play in deathmatches. At least in my experience this helped very well.
-In an even fight, try to go for head shots as much as possible, especially pistols. It is worth taking since players, especially high levels. can take a lot of damage with small arms.
-Be as stealthy as possible. Don't run too much, use sneak and cover to hide your blip in your opponent's minimap. You will have the drop on them before they see you coming.
-Take advantage of the environment. Use walls and obstacles to hide yourself.
-Divide and Conquer. Try to flank and surround your opponents. Always try to fight 2 vs 1 but be wary of explosives.

I´m very bad at PvP in general , whether in Deathmatches or LTS or whatever ... I used most of the tipps stated in the last few posts but still ...

the thing is (and It always happens to me) : I always shoot the other player (while trying to aim at the head ), but they always take so much more damage than I do , and I´m usually the first one who got shot ....

I start to think that it´s PC-dependant , as I play on my Laptop and in HD resolution(720p) to get more FPS ...

- Play with the lowest possible settings to get the highest possible fps (100+ fps at least)

-Play with 500 Hz poliing rate on the mouse

- Play with a 120+Hz monitor

-Play with a huge quality mousepad, high quality sensor mouse and use the right mouse sensitivity: use the whole mousepad surface to make a full 180° turn.

- Use quick binds to switch between weapons

- Learn the maps and use the environment at your advantage

- Always aim for the head if possible

- Always try to get a 1vs1 fight even when facing multiple enemies

- Learn how much it takes for your blip to disappear on the minimap

- Sleep well, eat good, be an active person (at least walk 30 minutes every day) and drink coffee before playing (1-2 max per day).

- Play deathmatches 2 hours every day: better than playing 12 hours on weekends but nothing during the week.

- Play versus stronger opponents

- Play as smart as you can

- Play on manual aim servers only

- Quit the lobby and find a new host if the lag is too much high (thanks Rockstar for not adding dedicated servers...)

I would make a simple DM in Creator and then use the Test feature. It basically lets you play against moving AI, so you can practice your aim.

Besides, I heard that if you're using a controller, you'll get paired up with people who are also using controllers and the same goes for KB+M.

As a pvp player I can say Gta combat is ridiculous. But the main trick to get a kill is to hit the head. The main trick to stay alive is to avoid getting headshotted. You can avoid it by rolling, bp helmet. Try to change your acceleration, dead zone and sensitivity. If you use sniper, go first person to run faster. Use a right weapon in the right situation. That's my tips.

it can be 2 things :

~ P2P :

some said " no matter how quick your internet are , the result would be same when it comes to P2P " . so if there is at least 1 player lagged , it will affect the whole lobby/job , you finally downed someone but WAIT! they instantly back up on their feet and killed you , therefore reversing the death and kill credit

~ Lagswitch :

other said players using this . for this one , i admittedly doesn't know how it work , but judging by the name , it may cause others lagging while maintain one's in optimal state

Wtfdontlickme

Cuz, you're not using BST, Rockets and First Person!

Nah, it's most likely the sh*t P2P servers and Lag.

Solid Scorpion

Turning off depth of field effects will remove that crappy blur so you can actually pick out a target over 10 meters.

It would be better if you describe your problem in details.

How exactly do you get killed?

What's your usual strategy?

What's your weak spots?

Tips:

-Enable the 3rd person roll and 3rd person cover in Settings

- Switch to first person if it's allowed in the deathmatch settings, you will have the strafing advantage

- Learn to strafe in the first person mode while aiming your gun

- Learn to strafe/move while holding "sprint" if you are in 3rd person (if the first person mode is not allowed by deathmatch). You want to keep speed.

- Aim for headshots while using carbines and pistols.

- NEVER use ironsights in first person, use regular zoom instead

- NEVER shoot from a cover (unless grenade launcher). It makes you a static target, if you stop moving - you are dead.

- I would suggest to use cover only to hide your blip or to regain health. In all other situations - clear the corners by strafing in circle, you don't have to properly "slice the pie", just keep the distance from the cover. Your body is less exposed while "cornering" in first person that taking a regular GTA-style cover (tested personally)

- Alternatively, you can roll out from the corner. The opponent will usually expect a headshot and he will miss.

- Actually observe the opponent, stop shooting if you miss (or the enemy is rolling) to save ammo and prevent unexpected reloads.

- Control the distance. If the guy is too close, initiate a melee attack or roll back to prevent one.

- Use both strafes and rolls depending on situation. But note that you lose the strafing advantage in first person after the roll - you will move slower

- Start aiming in the roll (that's why you activate the 3rd person roll in settings). Once the roll ends, you are ready to shoot.

- Pick the right weapon. Always consider range. For example, Special Carbine has lower range than Assault Rifle - your hits with SC just won't be registered.

- Think out the generic reply for the "WTF!!!111 report HACKER ASAP!" and "drop money or report" messages

Lag is usually the biggest killer but I'd also suggest you keep applying body armour and remove any silencers on your weapons (because they reduce damage dealt; not by much but enough to make a difference in deathmatchs).

DentureDynamite

How good are you at TDM in games like BF3?

If, like mine, your game play tanks in GTA Online only, then I know what the answer is.

Wait, does the BP helmet work in DM's? I thought it was only for missions and free mode.

practice practice practice - fine tune your controls (ESPECIALLY YOUR SENSITIVITY)

I came from full auto aim on the PS3 to full free-aim on PC with K/M.

Took me about a week or two to get the hang of it - especially since this was mt first game playing K/M

Soon enough, I became the hard-core killing machine I am today (or at least I was? I rarely get into fights anymore)

Maybe you were just having a bad PVP day. It happens to all of us. Just stick to it and you will get a lot better.

Some good tips here, I suck bad at death matches and other PvP games too. I had no idea I could hide my blip on the map by taking cover, now I understand why I never could see the other players right away. I only play in first person with KB/M, I am just now realizing there are different aiming modes for the differences in controller and KB/M. I like playing in first person too, didn't realize there were so many advantages to that too, I certainly wasn't getting benefit from that lol.

I've been playing a lot of survivals by myself, and often get to level 8 or 9, but in survivals one can take their time and take breaks between waves. Playing against AI gets easy and predictive too, I do it mostly to try to get my aim better. By only using pistols and assault rifles I try to simulate the conditions of a DM, yet my aim still is garbage lol. I can't seem to improve my aim and I keep shooting the NPCs in the dick when trying to get (proper) head shots. Aiming still is a problem definitely.
