Sounds like GTA Online but supposedly is trying to be more in-depth on all aspects.

What worries me is the scope and feature-creep that has plagued projects like Star Citizen. But at least it sounds like Leslie is not making a sci-fi game. So there's only so much you can add into a game until it becomes another fantasy MMORPG.

Though games like "Everywhere" has gotten a really bad reputation lately. A ton of phony devs trying to scam people by making kickstarter campaigns and broken games on Steam advertising the dreaded "You can be anything" tagline.

Honestly unless Amazon are juicing the studio I wouldn't be at all surprised if when they finally reveal the game they announce it's running on Unreal Engine 4 / 5 or something.

Turns out the real British prophet on GTAF is English. ;)

Also, friendly reminder that any information on the game is pure speculation and we really have no idea what it's about or what it plays like so wishlists like seen above are completely baseless right now.

DINBURGH, SCOTLAND; November 13, 2020

Video game developer Leslie Benzies’ Build A Rocket Boy Studio announced it has just completed a Series B round of fundraising for their new game “EVERYWHERE.”

Founded in 2016 by Benzies, Build A Rocket Boy has established itself as a new global, independent studio focused on the future of AAA games. The development team has quickly grown to 400+ people with studios in Edinburgh and Budapest.

With the close of a Series B fundraising round, the studio has extended its team to include Galaxy Interactive, who co-lead this fundraising round with existing investor, NetEase. Other existing investors include eWTP Innovation Fund and Creative Artists Agency.

“We are fortunate to have great partners who share our vision and have invested in the studio to enable us to bring EVERYWHERE to life. We are also very excited at how the current trends in the video game industry, as well as the creativity and passion of the global gaming audience, are further aligning with our vision for EVERYWHERE” said Benzies.

“Over the past four years, we have been able to build a great team at Build A Rocket Boy, and the development of the game has progressed well,” Benzies continued. “EVERYWHERE is now running on Unreal Engine. The engine’s tech advances over the last two years, and Epic Games’ roadmap provides us a great opportunity to create a game built on a foundation that will remain at the forefront of the industry for years to come.”

As Build A Rocket Boy continues with full production of EVERYWHERE, all studios are ramping up staff across all areas of game development and operations. Now is a great time to join our talented team and growing company. For more information on jobs openings can be found on the studio’s web site [www.everywhere.game or www.buildarocketboy.com ] which also serves as a one-stop hub for job applicants.

the craziest thing about leslie's statements yesterday is the size of the studio +400 dev

I dunno about this being a great sign for the game to be honest, Lumberyard is a unpopular engine and while Unreal is the complete opposite in terms of popularity, notable open world games on UE4 include... Days Gone, and that's about it. There's a reason developers who specialise in open words typically have their own in-house engines, such as Rockstar with RAGE, Ubisoft with their 20 variants of Dunia, Bethesda Game Studios with the Creation Engine etc.

I suspect the decision to move to Unreal was one they made out of necessity more than anything, Amazon Lumberyard (and CryEngine before it and still to this day) isn't popular and that can only be for a reason.

Well they are experienced in making open world games, aren't they.

There is nothing to worry about if we give them our opinions.

I want to see something new, I am tired of waiting for just GTA 6.

Competition is better and it should exist.

I wish good luck to Microsoft's new open world game as well.

The more the merrier.

Also I believe the Unreal Engine is going to be great for every game out there unless some good alternatives exist.

i know they are pets, but what mean this post?

They are the developers' pets. It isn't a subtle hint or anything.

Basically, they're just hiring.
