A video game that simulates and fuses the real world with the virtual. Live your own stories as you live in ours.

I am getting some kind of a space game vibe from the first look of the website and the game font, though i could be always completely wrong. Hopefully it's the NMS/Star Citizen we all deserve.

Rockstar is done. I'm sure the Housers will rush out one last GTA before Benz' masterpiece hits the market, then it's game over for them.

Easy now. Let the limbs develop before expecting it to walk.

This excites me big time. Very excited to see what's next. I kind of expected this, but not so soon. Either way, bring it on!

It could go another way too. I mean I imagine The Benz would have had a lot of say and certainly had the technical know-how to implement these things. Where the Housers are more like the think-tank, the ideas guys. It's now alleged that the Housers weren't too into Online but it seems like it was The Benz pet project. I'm guessing this is why he's asking for 150 million, most likely Shark Card revenue. It now looks as why they went separate ways.

It's quite possible the Housers see GTA was a SP experience first. It's quite possible The Benz proposed GTA Online to Take Two and Take 2 agreed to fund it, so long as it's monetized with Shark Cards.

So, if there's a disagreement in the focus of GTA it's likely because of the most obviously devisive thing: GTA O. GTA ceased to be a SP game and became an exclusively Online only game as soon as they stopped supporting or adding things in to the SP. This clash of creative direction is most likely why we didn't see any SP DLC.

So, whoever fills The Benz shoes will have to provide some loyalty to the the Houser's wishe's and maybe we'll see a return to a more single-player centric game. However, I just don't see it going back. But as Strauss Zelnick said ""Not only was it not our intention that GTA Online was permanent, but it's important that it not be permanent. We have to rest the franchise at some point."

I wouldn't mind if the next GTA drops and it's single player only for a minimum of a year or something. I don't know. Why do I spend so much time thinking about GTA :(

GTA online was going to happen eventually. I remember playing GTA 4 online forever and wondered what if we could buy apartments, clothes, cars, etc online and thinking that would be cool. And it finally happened with GTA V. The only thing I hate about GTA Online is the that it has too much PVP gameplay. Other than that it's miles better than what we got with GTA 4 online freemode.

I'm somewhat confused by the reactions. On one hand, the concept of GTAO is almost universally hated across this board (well apart from the GTAO forum obv.), or at least what it has done to the GTA SP or the GTA formula. Everyone's been crying about how GTA V SP was botched, how it doesn't get updates, how shark cards rule the design choices and all that.

And now Benz is doing another game like that and everyone is suddenly excited? For another GTAO clone?

I'm confused. Help me understand. Where are the GTAO haters?

For example (not trying to pick on you on anything, this quote just highlights my confusion):

You do make a good point, all this seamless online stuff he's talking about looks like was going to be the future of GTA. I wonder if the Housers preferred money to innovation.

I get the 'innovation' part, but GTAO is obviously the biggest moneymaker and most likely was, or at least could have been predicted to be. So if anything, to me it seems that the Housers would pick safe bets over innovation, or the original GTA concept over money.

Of course, I have no real clue what the Benz/Housers relationships was in the company. A lot of people seem to have very intimate knowledge of what it was like there though [sarcasm].

To me it seems that if anything, if Benz left/was let go before GTAO started development, perhaps GTA V could have been a better SP game.

Another thing I don't get is... These guys just started. How long is this game off, 3 years at least? And the hype is already starting? Oh dear.

When Benz was let go, GTA Online development was done. He was let go in 2014. When GTA Online development started in 2012, Benz was still there.

My grammar sucks when it comes to tenses. What I mean is that if in an alternate timeline Benz has left before GTAO started, than we could've gotten a better SP game.

Your absolutely blind devotion is hilarious, especially when you read the part of the interview that suggests that the thing everyone has blamed the Housers for, the expansion of and focus on Online, appears to actually have been all the fault of the Benz.

Signatures are dumb anyway.

The main curiousity for me here is not hype for the game itself (yet at least), but interest in what he is capable of. Basically, I want to know if The Benz is great, or whether Rockstar made him great.

Before all of this even happened, he was known for his talents in developing and organising Rockstar's catalogue, his CV is rich with producer credits, as are the two ex-R* guys that have come with him who were leads in programming and audio. It's always been said how Leslie saved Red Dead Redemption's very bad code right up before it released. But behind them they had a major selling brand, a big budget and multiple studios.

None of this takes away from Rockstar, nor is it ultimately going to change what happens in the future. The Housers have always been famed on good writing as well, and something as big as GTA isn't a one-man game. The question of who was "responsible" for the direction of GTA Online isn't going to be answered explicitly, you're going to keep milking a cash cow if you've got publishers over your head, but it obviously must have been some major directional disagreements that fuelled the original fallout since they had created great things for so long together. So I think that's why we're interested in this studio at the end of the day, not because "omg R* are dead" but because maybe it will reveal what "could have" or "should have" been if he didn't leave.

GTA 5 might have been my first game, but i do found his interview a really interesting read.

I hope he does well, there is indeed a lack of quality in a lot of complicated games lately i feel(not reffering only to gta 5/online)

It's possible that this may have something to do with the title "Everywhere"...I've been waiting for this day for a long time now. (2013 CvG interview)

So I wonder if this new series will actually allow you to live your life as you want? Does that mean choose your career? :monocle: This is going to be interesting and the hype is going to begin! GET READY! :panic:

They're using Lumberyard?

Last I heard about this CryEngine-based also-ran I wasn't convinced it was worth looking at. How's it working out for Star Citizen?

Well for Star citizen they have altered the engine so much that they started calling it star-engine and currently still have that engine they have moved from cry-tech to lumberyard and it sounded like it was mostly the networking part of it.I can't say it runs "great" or its "bad" cause it's not finished (we just have a small area in space we test out) but visually it's amazing so far and getting better. the amount of detail is amazing and they have no plans on making it for consoles (Wich sucks) because they say it won't handle all the tech and they don't want to dumb down the game just to give you an idea of the ambition of this game.but for squadron 42 I am hopeful they do port it to consoles (single player game)

so knowing how the Benz was on gtav (from what we heard) I think he will make this work well and the money/time he could save with lumberyard will be interesting. We only have to wait and see :( lol why do we have to always wait for the cool games D:

I think that would make "Everywhere" (or whatever other game title that the team chooses) the spiritual successor to the Sims games by EA and Maxis. The first 2 games are classics, along with their expansions, and the Sims 3 to a certain degree, the Sims 4... not so much.

You are retarded. Yes 30 people are going to create a game better than GTA, which is made by multiple huge studios with 300~ people in each one.

I see what you're saying but take a look at the team that made the epic game that is Witcher 3. Doesn't come close to how many people Rockstar employs to make a game. These 30 people can be heavily talented and can produce a GTA killer. It's not impossible. I don't think it'll happen though, at least with their first major game.

In regards to GTAOnline, the original plans for GTAOnline were MUCH different from what we got and have now, the original version was going to be faction based and focus more on the gangs and the police fighting off each other in the city and countryside. But later on Online became much more about what it is now and focused on pushing content and keeping players active and buying.

This is pretty exciting, we still have a long way to go before seeing what kind of game this will be, I wonder if Everywhere and GTA will be in conflict with each other, unless Rockstar decides to go back to what GTA is all about, both games could coexist without one trying to best the other, though I don't think this won't be the case unfortunately.

Who knows, this might become the start of a new era for the video game industry.

30 is just the current size, they're hiring pretty aggressively so there's no telling just how big they're expecting to go.

If Everywhere is anything similar to what I'm picturing in my mind, they may already have competition with another game in the works, Identity. https://www.identityrpg.com

Nobody had a problem with GTA Online until the Housers turned it into a microtransaction simulator, around the same time the Benz had left.

You said the key word "unless Rockstar decides to go back to what GTA is all about" that's what Rockstar lost when they got caught up in the online world, left their roots.

I took a look at that game, but the only down fall is that it's not on console.

I've heard Leslie just made his own team and studio and will be working on a game which at the moment is called "Everywhere" to rival GTA.

Ive been hearing that as well. Saw a few thumbnails that entailed "Ex Rockstar Producer makes new game 10x bigger than GTA" but haven't seen any concrete proof.

I'd be excited for sure though.

yeah read about it, saw a few samples of the game engine they would use and it looks promising...

hope it delivers, having 2 companies competing for the top spot of a genre is a win-win for the users.
