no news about the game?

After doing a lil search it appears the cinematic director was going to GDC in march but as far as i can tell they didn't appear at the show? He posted a picture of an everywhere dossier of some form but strangley he only used the tagline #buildarocketboy and not the tag of the companys actual twitter handle. Apart from the initial recruitment drive they did on their twitter its looking pretty dead for the last 6 months plus.

Like I said before, I get the impression that Benzies and co. are running this thing 'R* style' - i.e., months/years of radio silence, and we'll probably not hear anything until they've got something resembling the finished product to show off.

Same with CDPR and Cyberpunk 2077, come to think of it - game was announced in May 2012, had a pre-rendered proof-of-concept teaser trailer released eight months later, and then ...nothing, until last year's big reveal of the WIP stuff. Five years, and not a peep - the only reason why people didn't pay quite so much attention was because CDPR was also working on The Witcher 3, so no-one was wondering "hmm, is that Cyberpunk thing DOA?".

Better that, IMO, than something like Star Citizen - a game that needs to show off stuff to mollify the Kickstarter backers who want proof that their money isn't just going up in smoke, but with that coming at the cost of just getting on with the game behind closed doors, and only showing stuff off when the whole thing is ready. Or worst-case scenario: Build A Rocket Boy fails to launch (heh - intentional bad pun... :p), but at least it just fizzles out and people don't really notice anything, rather than a high-profile game dev veteran having to publicly shutter their new venture after things don't work out.

P.S. I think we me see it around 2023

2021 at the very earliest - because that'd be five years from the establishment of Benzies' new outfit, and that's on a par with, say, Hardsuit Labs and Bloodlines 2 (studio founded in 2015, got the V:tM license and started work on the game almost immediately, game is set to come out in 2020), or Spiders and Greedfall (apparently been in the works for five years, too).

I mean, I wouldn't be totally surprised if Volition managed to get the recently-announced new Saints Row game out next year - assuming they started on it shortly after Agents of Mayhem (and that awful round of layoffs in September 2017... :( ), then a late 2020/early 2021 release wouldn't be unreasonable, considering Saints Row III had a similar-length dev cycle. But that's still a game from an established studio, going back to a tried-and-tested format - for a brand-new company, working on something from scratch, and with what little we've heard so far implying that this isn't going to be some by-the-numbers thing like a CoD-clone FPS or what-have-you, it's going to take a fair sight more time.

If an absolute masterpiece of this caliber were to transpire, pushing unprecedented, simulated realism within a procedurally-generated planet to serve as the navigable map... Mr. Benzies and his own arsenal of crusaders would forge video game history. 🙂

And if this intellectual property hits the market, it has the potential to decimate the Pricedown franchise, a franchise of which my adolescent-streak salutes.

I am hopeful that Mr. Benzies unleashes the horses very soon. With the PlayStation 5 hitting the market holiday of 2020, this gorgeous production will hopefully soon befriend the globe. 🙂

Not much - although looking at BARB Ltd.'s filing history, it looks like (I'm not an expert - someone correct me if I'm wrong!) NetEase is now a shareholder.

Now, at first I thought that might be something to do with either Chinese publishing and online hosting, or even online services for the game in general. Looking a bit further, though, I'm thinking it's more in line with what NetEase has been doing with other private (as opposed to publicly-traded) game studios recently - purchasing a minority stake in the likes of Quantic Dream and Bungie.

...in other words, that probably translates to some significant investment from NetEase - bearing in mind that Bungie just got over $100 million out of their deal. Also (and this part shouldn't be surprising, considering next-gen consoles are scheduled to come out as early as next year), both the Bungie and QD deals emphasise next-gen games - Bungie's statements mention "new worlds" (i.e., games post-Destiny 2), and QD's specifically mention next-gen games. In fact, that seems to be NetEase's overall aim, here - to quote VP Ethan Wang:

“With a strong focus on in-house development, we are constantly looking for partners that complement us in the development and creation of the next generation games”

Looks like BARB is one of those partners, if I'm not mistaken - and already in with some not-too-shabby-at-all company, to boot. We're still largely in the dark about specifics, but at the very least, it looks like Benzies and co. aren't messing around...

I know they are in hardcore hiring mode. Been approached by 3 recruiters so far with positions at BARB. They definitely got a ton of cash and are going hard at getting talent.

Going to be genuinely very interesting to see what he's cooking. He undoubtedly has a sh*t ton of pull, it will be very interesting to see what a Houser-less Benzies can cook up.

Leslie Benzies: Yep, that’s what you call Game of Eternity. That’s all the horsepower that’s gonna come at the player, straight out of this game’s ambition. It’s over, baby.’

It looks like everywhere will feature storyboard unless this job position is for some other game they are currently working on.

https://gamejobs.co/Storyboard-Artist-at-Build-a-Rocket-Boy

According to the job description, this game is still in early stages of development:

Quote

"We are looking for a talented Storyboard Artist who enjoys being part of the pre-production process"

"You will participate in the early stages of development and will have the chance to help to shape the way our cinematics translate from script to the screen"

Yeah, if they end up following Rockstar's development cycles, the story usually comes first along with the map, so yeah, the game is still a while away. Sort of makes me wonder if the project is too ambitious to Benzies (now pretty much in an indie studio) and how far he'll be able to take the project.

This game... harbors a newfound respect for Google’s Earth, the playground of which is under civil unrest. My gratitude to Mr. Benzies in advance for everything that EVERYWH3RE wants to love, such as the very roofs under which our seeds’ first steps were nurse by child play. It is time to play; is time to stream our tears. Reality check: Pricedown is about to get checked by EVERYWH3RE... where the adults are at play. 🎉

https://www.reddit.com/r/EverywhereGame/comments/ev9hme/material_for_speculation_on_everywhere/

Material for speculation on Everywhere

So here is my F.B.I.-level investigation/analysis on everything that we can expect to be in the game plus some speculation fun
SECTION 1: PLATFORM

- The game in some shape or form, will involve Mobile phones.
If you take a look at job openings that they have, I think they have at least 4-5 people working on the game on the mobile side, (this is based on the numbers of job posting specifically for mobile work that I can remember), also we can speculate that:
- The game on Mobile will be a mobile version of the full game
As in Fortnite/MW/Pubg style where you have the "full" game and then the mobile version.
This is based on the description of the jobs for the mobile side of the game, and there is one which is available right now: https://buildarocketboy.bamboohr.com/jobs/view.php?id=77

Which says, in case the link won't be available in the future:
"Senior Mobile Programmers are responsible for designing and porting large scale game and engine sub-systems to mobile platforms", also in requirements it says: "shipped at least one high quality 3D mobile " which further confirms the Fortnite/Pubg style.

SECTION 2: GRAPHICS

- The game will have realistic/ AAA graphics as in typical 3D open world games

We have 3 pictures of game characters(why haven't we talked about them?) so not much speculation is needed on graphics, but from the picture we can speculate a bit about the game story and maybe a new feature..here are the 3 photos: https://www.buildarocketboy.com/img/webp/Ev_Home_A_Free_663x500.webp

A woman, fairily realistic/good looking graphics, very detailed eyebrows and eye, also detailed skin texture or whatever it is called, not much but I like the look

https://www.buildarocketboy.com/img/webp/Ev_Home_B_Solo1_663x500.webp

Now this is interesting.. this looks like some sort of indigenous man or something like that, cool
https://www.buildarocketboy.com/img/webp/Ev_Home_Man_663x500.webp

Now while this might look like a random/generic npc..I think there is more to it than that, and I will talk about it in the feature section of the game.
Antoher thing to take into consideration is that if their goal is to make a game that "blurs the line between reality and a simulated world" maybe they are aiming at much better graphics than what we would expect. Just for fun here is some of the work of the lead character artist that works on everywhere: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y2p8WU6FLz8

-The game will have vehicles

They have a Lead vehicle artist working on the game and they recently hired another vehicle artist based on a job listing that recently disappeared, which leds me to believe that vehicles will be present and maybe an important part of the gameplay.

-The game will have Npc/Characters and...creatures

Of course as an open world game it will feature npc and main characters, but there was a job posting for a character artist (now no longer available) mentioning specifically creatures. Maybe is simply refers to animals, but maybe it's something else like monsters or other type of enemies.

-The game will have explorable buildings

They have people working on the interiors of buildings

SECTION 3: NEW FEATURES

- V.R.

Altough there are no mentions of vr directly, there are some things that leslie benzies said in the early interview about the game.
Specifically:
" If we do this right, we’re going to give players the chance to really live out their fantasies, not just the limited fantasies that most games set up for them, and do so in a deeply immersive way. "
The "deeply immersive way" is what intrigues me, and I think he is referring to VR for 2 reason: he set up a company called "VR-chitect" limited http://vr-chitect.co.uk/ which focuses on using a V.R. headset to view buildings before they are built for example, and he even filed a patent for a new method of using v.r. https://patents.justia.com/patent/20180107269 . He is obviously interested in vr, so it is fair to assume that the game might be built also for vr...imagine playing a GTA like game with vr...

- NEW WAY TO PUT YOURSELF IN THE GAME

Remember the picture of the random looking-npc character? I think it refers to a technology present in the game engine they are using, that allows you to use a picture of yourself to create a digital version of you, maybe even with facial animations..this is what I am talking about:
https://youtu.be/RLe4vTxv3QE?t=288
Pretty cool if they would use that in the game

SECTION 4: STORY/GAMEPLAY

- IT WILL TAKE PLACE IN THE NEAR-FUTURE, TECHNOLOGY WILL BE A BIG THEME

This is simply straight out of the website:

"In the near future, technology has brought humanity to the precipice of a world shifting change.

There are those who want to use this technology to advantage only themselves, and those who want to use it to help all humankind. Will we look to the stars? Or stare only at our feet? Will we be inspired? Or live in fear?

There’s a war between good and evil in the hearts of men and women. Everything is changing. And there’s no going back.

It’s a game. It’s a community. It’s a new world. The storm is on the horizon. And it is only the beginning of EVERYWHERE."

Now I do not know what to think of this, but what comes to mind is some sort of A.I. generated catastrophe of sorts and maybe the game will involve SPACE exploration..from the name of the company and the looks of the graphics I think it woudn't be a far-fetched possibility, and as far as gameplay goes..maybe factions battling each other? Or maybe instead of war it is about collaborating like in death stranding and this is why it is called a community
All in all it sounds like a G.T.A. type game but with way more options and with a focus on a new type of online gameplay and maybe new locations like Space.
Also, this from an old interview:
"the game has multiple narratives, we also want players to create their own narratives that include characters with a real personality ".

So what do you think? Do you agree with my ideas on the game? I wanna hear from others.

Bonus fact: there is a company called BUILD A ROCKET GIRL, owned by Leslie Benzies.

The whole emphasis on being able to create your own stories makes me think it's going to be either a game that's not too dissimilar to something like Dreams, where you can create your own games and stories although here it's likely done in a world already created for you. The other possibility is it's something that's going to be relying on emergent gameplay a lot, which given other things I'm reading about the game makes me think it's probably more similar to an open world, online survival game, something like Ark. If it is the latter I'm assuming it's trying to be the next evolution in those styles of games more than another copy and paste job we see often in that genre.

The rare times we here a tease about the game it sounds like something completely newbut  as with all teases like that once we actually see the game it'll probably be built on concepts, mechanics and systems we are all very familiar with, so I'm not expecting something new and mind blowing by the game.
