Now This is one of the reason why you need to be owned or partner with the "Big Boys" https://twitter.com/JessConditt/status/930123611062464512

EDIT/NOTE: No Man's Sky caused this (joking ; Tbh though we dont want the market floodedwith sh*tty indie games) http://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/2017-11-10-indies-feel-the-pinch-from-sonys-new-esrb-mandate

Interestingly, SZ is the Chairman of ESA (ESRB) and making this new law kind pf consolidates the industry just solely on the "Big Boys" :colgate:

Ask anyone who's familiar with them and indie games are where a crap ton of innovation in the industry is coming from, not that this law will effect them much as digital distribution is not only the future, it's how they've all released anyway. So the impact that law is going to have on anything is basically diddly squat.

Funny how the "Big Boys" all 14 of them are now large that they used to be indies when they just started (THQ Nordic took over THQ place BTW).

EDIT/NOTE: I will love to see a good settlement with him still having a good relationship with R* and Take-Two.

not gonna happen, they're past this stage.

you know, that stuff you see while GTAO is loading, those text decriptions for new game modes and such, it's messages from dan and sam to the benz, but the benz doesn't give a f*ck!

haha @ the latest DOGFIGHT text. "what happened to settling things the old way? ...when all communication has failed..."

read between the lines....there's no happy end here. the benz will get what's his'. and R* will never make EPIC games again, thus they re-cycle their old games. and just try to make the "best" out of what was left behind by the benz....code-wise. probably they will go back to making seperate games in different studios too, because there's noone around to lead (an 5 year invasion) and get everything under one hood!

I like your relaxed attitude, and the funny jokes between the lines, but both you and I know that our minds will be blown away by the next Benz-free Grand Theft Auto game and we will probably play together in Online 2.0. See you in Northern San Andreas, buddy!

The people calling anybody not filled with hatred by T2 fanboys is just as bad if not worse than the actual fanboys themselves. Sure, they have some very questionable practices, but lest we forget that they also make possible some of the best games in my library going back to the ps2. Corporate culture sucks period, the fact that you guys will hate T2 but still buy ANY of their products really weakens your pious fury..

OT: I will be quite excited if Everywhere has no weapons based PvP. I like the idea of it expending that energy and time on activities that I can't get from GTA as it is now.

Take-Two will at one partner with or buy his studio. That how funny the Industry is, just take a look at EA buy Zampella's Respawn (the creator of the 2002 installment of Medal of Honor who then went on to create Call of Duty).

Are you seriously comparing the case of Vince Zampella with Leslie Benz's?

First, the development of those two cases is completely different. Second, there isn't any kind of relationship between this and EA purchasing Respawn Entertainment, like, nothing. What's funnier is that Zampella's case is something that's only happened once and you're already saying "that's how funny the industry is" like implying that's something that is always happening.

Really, you fanboyism for Take-Two has no limits.

They seem to be looking for an IT support engineer now.
Edit: Art production assistant is also sought after.

Edit #2: Now they look for a technical level designer.

you talking about T2 buying The Benz studios. for this to happen the company would have to be introduced on the market. and when you see how The Benz cares about his baby into the article, i don't think this is going to happen anytime soon. from what i read T2 had been saved from bankrupcy 2 or 3 times by R* and GTA sales by the past. i'd personnally rather think that a wrong move from T2, and that's The Benz that's gonna buy T2. seriously can't you see how GTA has turned. if you still see a GTA in actual GTAO, feel free to point me to it, because i've been searching for it for a while now

yeah TheBenz being scottish, i believe their main studio will be in Edinburg. Crytek Engine is very powerful but i read it wasn't very good in 3rd person view. frankly i'm not sure that even experienced devs like TheBenz and his team will be able to get something descent with that thing. i read Crytek engine was powerful especially regarding with graphics, but when you see the problems a very experienced developper like Chris Roberts had with it, i really don't know. i mean it could be great, as it could be a nice and plain fail too :(. however right now there isn't 200 000 choices, it's or UE4, or Unity, or CE/Lumberyard. the good point is that Amazon plans to develop games on Lumberyard. so normally, there should be a good support, and things could only get better...

Either of those engines can make a great high quality game with a studio full of talented people. Lumberyard hasn't really been used much by professionals so we haven't seen the full potential of it.

Yes, it's based off cry engine, but Amazon are making their own thing out of it. I've seen some great looking environments in that engine, and I'm sure the group Leslie is putting together can whip up some great mechanics.

this is great info from polygon interview

The Grand Theft Auto games have always been about sending up American pop culture with puerile humor and a healthy dose of cynicism. Is that something you’re interested in?

The Benz: “Everywhere” is very different from GTA. There may be parts of our game that include satire but the tone will be very different and at times our players will be in control of how the tone is set.

Smith: We’ll have a distinctive style and tone, and plenty of story and characters — but what I find more interesting is letting players create their own stories, their own personalities. To a degree, more like a social network — where what’s being commented on or ridiculed isn’t written three years in advance, but can change hour by hour. And if a future President chose to make policy announcements in “Everywhere,” that’s something I’d certainly find interesting!

GTA Online turned out to be a huge success. Is that something you anticipated? How important do you think online multiplayer is to AAA games these days?

The Benz: I had a hunch that online was the future and hoped that we could make it a success. I’m proud that the foundations we laid worked and are still working so successfully. I see a future where we don’t reference single or multiplayer — we just choose when we play and if we want to hang out with others or we want to be alone. Just like real life — sometimes I want to be with people, sometimes I don’t, or I want them around but I don’t want to interact with them. We’re making “Everywhere” as seamless as possible so players won’t have to think about jumping from mode to mode — except when it helps the gameplay.

Nice idea this to do hang out mode sp to mp without change mode and waiting loadings :)
