I have a nasty feeling that the GTA series we know and love has come to an end, im worried that it is all going to go online. I didnt mind the online gaming in GTAIV when it first started, i had fun and it was fun. Then i remember the idiots coming in and spawning all sorts of crap, i got a ship dropped on me in the middle of star junction and an army of prostitutes with guns that you couldnt kill. I left and never went back, I have no interest in online and ive seen the videos of some of the crap in GTA5 online, it will make me very sad if thats where the next game is headed, it may just be that GTA5 is the last GTA i buy. Nothing lasts forever i guess.

Nah, GTA will keep having single player and a dedicated story at the front. R* will not take the risk and make it Online-only because they will simply lose a large fanbase, if not most of it. A proper question to ask is whether they will still have the passion to drive the series into new levels of innovation and bother to write interesting stories and characters, which V heavily lacked. It's still too early to judge, ViceBoy69.

I'm hoping that this is not an Online thing, the problem with Rockstar is their roots have been neglected in a way. Single player is where it began and I'm not saying online is horrible but when it's the only focus it can get uninteresting. You have to add some interesting gameplay like role playing with all the bells and whistles.

I think GTA and RDR will always have a single player mode. The question is how much attention it recieves. I think it's quite possible Rockstar may go the Call Of Duty route of just churning out a campaign and focusing soley on Online afterwards; that's basically what they did with V anyway. Or they may even merge the two modes as Jason suggested.

Sad to say but our best bet for GTA SP content from here on may be PC mods only. Can't even say the same for RDR since we don't know if the series will be released on PC from here on.

This game is gonna be really super cool and really good.

You can tell because of how many empty spots there are on the hiring list.

And how they're using a free engine.

And how it sounds like the idea for GTA Online, or an early access survival game.

And how it's online only with no story or structure.

And how the pitch is basically vague, meaningless ideas or buzzwords with nothing to show for it.

But no, it'll be a super great game. I mean, The Benz is on it! The guy who invented Shark Cards!

And look at how cool this photo is.

Cu8SzGt.jpg

So cool.

These are some cool guys making a cool video game. Rockstar must be flipping out right now, right guys?

I didn't know Dan Houser had an account on here.Of course he does, how else would he get all the ideas he ignores? Edited by éX-Driver

What a name and geez the guy is rich with all that T2 Interactive $$$ 😂😂😂😂

Note: He is trying to have multiple studios like his former employer, Rockstar- which used to have a Vienna studio- I think Rockstar should open a Budapest studio to piss him off further 😂😂😂😂

Having multiple studios across the globe is useful - lots of big studios and publishers have them. It allows you to pool the top talent from various regions instead of having to find ones who live around or are willing to move to where the studio is located. You also get the addition of various different cultures which can really help the creative process, particularly on big games. EA and Ubisoft in particular have a ton of studios around the world.

What is actually interesting is that The Benz is doing this as a start up. That doesn't just mean he has money to burn, but he also has pull. Clearly a lot of people want in on his new project. Make of what what you will.

True that. Rockstar have 10 studios, while 2K have 10 studios, and Social Point will sure expand with having internal studios and all 3 labels and their game studios are wholly-owned by Take-Two Interactive. It important.

Note: Ubisoft have a whopping 30 studios. Insanity!

Your absolutely blind devotion is hilarious, especially when you read the part of the interview that suggests that the thing everyone has blamed the Housers for, the expansion of and focus on Online, appears to actually have been all the fault of the Benz.

Nobody had a problem with GTA Online until the Housers turned it into a microtransaction simulator, around the same time the Benz had left.

You are retarded. Yes 30 people are going to create a game better than GTA, which is made by multiple huge studios with 300~ people in each one.

Relax Sam, you still have another 5 years or so before you need to start packing up.Lol? GTAO had microtrancations and DLCs from the beginning. It's the core aspect of GTAO and it was all thought out by The Benz. Do you think The Benz meant free content when he talked about "expanding world"? No, they are business company. He said it himself, that GTAO success was due to him, what do you think he meant by that? Sharkcard money = success. Have fun jerking his dick off, can't wait to see "EVERYWHERE cancelled" news article next year. They don't even have a budget of Rockstar studio, they can't do sh*t. And if it ever comes out it's going to be microtrancation filled. Edited by quxxo

True that, the Houser Brothers did not even want anything to do with GTAO but Benzie who was still at North made it possible. If not GTA V will have alot of Expansion (Story) Packs Today.

In 2013 (w/ Benz), the most expensive item was a tank for just 1.3 million. A $20 shark card covers that.

In 2015 (w/o Benz), the most expensive item is 10 million. A $100 shark card is still not enough to cover that.

your missing his point that they were thought out by Benz, that doesn't mean Rockstar wouldnt take it and run with it. They saw a cash cow created by benz and took full advantage.

Yeah, but many seem to be under the impression that Leslie is to blame for the current state of GTA Online. Micro-transactions did not become a problem until after he left. What started off as a reasonably priced shortcut for players with little time to play, has almost become a requirement for accessing new content.

Have you played it recently? It's actually mindblowing what they've done to get money out of you.

You want that new ramp car? Cool. Just drop a million on an office. Wait, sorry dude now you gotta drop another million on a warehouse. Alright dude you can finally buy your ramp car for 3 million! Oh you've ramped a dozen cars already? Sorry dude you gotta repair the ramp car now or it'll blow up. That should be pretty cheap right? Nah dude repairing it costs $10,000 because why not. Oh dude it looks like a jet is coming your way. Hurry up and activate Ghost Organization to hide your blip! It only costs $15,000! But those annoying cops are still on you man. You should use Bribe Authorities for another $12,000 and you'll be good. Uh oh, Ghost Organization is over and the jet is coming back! Ooops he blew you up. The only way you're taking that jet down is getting your own jet! Go buy one for a reasonable 3 million. Ok sweet! But the airfield is so far away dude. You should call in your CEO Buzzard for only $25,000 and fly there! Oops dude, you were in such a rush you accidentally selected Change Organization Name and threw $250,000 out the window. Well at least we're finally at the airfield. Let's get that sweet revenge! Wait the session split dude, nevermind.

GTA Online today is not the GTA Online Leslie envisioned.

GTA Online today is not the GTA Online Leslie envisioned.

Maybe true, maybe not. One could argue that his vision is based on simulating the real world, so we have GTA Online where you have to deposit your money into a bank account, deal with insurance and pay for clothes, cars, weapons and planes using real money (shark cards), or waste a whole lot of your time by grinding and doing the same heists again and again. World simulation at its finest.

He left after GTA Online release for a months-long sabbatical and it was up to Rockstar Games and it Studios (mostly North, and New York City) that cleaned up all the mess and still doing that till today. So we cannot give The Benz all the credit that he turn GTA Online into a Big Cash-cow.

The interview gives me a strong Online vibe to "Everywhere", that I'm not feeling excited after reading. I thought I'd find something interesting about what plans they have for a single player game, but the "ambitious" Everywhere seems like a hybrid experience just like Online for massively multiplayer gaming without any restrictions laid down upon the players.

Mehh.. I knew Benz was the one interested in this Online sh*t, and this interview clearly exposed this fact.

Glad that he was kicked out of Rockstar, and, even better, that he's making something that the Housers are anyways least ( or probably not ) interested.

Oh come on, GTA Online was good and brought a lot of fun. It's one of the reasons the damn game sold 75 million copies even 3 years after release.

Let's not put The Benz nor the Housers away. Both (and the R* core development team) brought GTA to what it is today.

I think this is all Tim Cook's fault.

Personally I think it's kinda weird how people are already coming to conclusions about how the game will be...we know its title and a very, very general and ambiguous description of what they want the game to be, that really doesn't give any base for opinions at the moment...

The Benz has now invested in an audio development company called Krotos, known for it's "voice processing" tech used in films and games.

"My master plan of taking Rockstar down is going as intended. Sooner and later, they will know what I - The Benz - am capable of... "

Seriously though, it seems he's got everything meticulously planned. Hopefully, it might end up being a revolution in the Game Industry. Otherwise a big major flop.

I can't wait to see exactly what this "Everywhere" is about. See his master plan eventually becoming clear...:colgate:.

It's ridiculous how many companies he's getting involved with. Makes sense, I suppose. Starting a game company with the intent on making a big AAA game all by your lonesome needs support and no doubt he has made A LOT of contacts during his years leading Rockstar North.

I am sure Rockstar North/Rockstar Games/Take-Two Interactive are following all these developments 😁

Edit:

North already claims to have the biggest audio systems in Europe but i will not be surprised if Andrew Semple and Aaron Garbut convinces parent companies Rockstar Games/Take-Two Interactive to buyout this firm just to piss The Benz 😁

Don't be silly. I highly doubt they care at all. What did they expect? For him to retire? Why would they purposefully do X thing to piss him off? It's not high school, it's a multi-billion dollar industry.

True that but he is making alot of noise.

Note-Edit: Irony is this is the same guy that said he did everything back at Rockstar, and make GTA what it is today...Meanwhile he already has 3 studios around the World under his palm.
