Storyline - VCS.

A.I. - They're mostly the same. But I liked the gangsters being sent after Vic in result of taking over empire buildings.

Map - Vice City > Liberty City.

Vehicles - VCS.

Physics - Aren't they the same?

Features - VCS, obviously. That being said, I can't remember anything I enjoyed in GTA more than the empire building in VCS.

VCS really had some great characters and Rockstar went above and beyond previous titles when it came to running your own gang and building a criminal empire. Great music - you know, because the 80s.

LCS just had a really cool vibe around it though. The music produced for the game was awesome, great characters again and also some nice activities that were new to the franchise and actually very enjoyable such as Avenging Angels, Tour Gide, Car & Motorcycle Salesman, etc.

I'm currently playing LCS on android device, and to be honest I'm very dissapointed about storyline.
It was so good in GTA III (I completed III like 6 or 7 times, more than any other GTA), but in case of LCS I'm now forcing myself to continue playing.

The atmosphere of LC is still there, with some cool additions, but III is still much better game for me.

And regarding VCS, I never played it, still waiting for VCS PC Edition final version ))

I remember putting LCS in my top five or top ten Rockstar Games lists and honestly I’m seriously regretting that now since I put it there for nostalgia alone pretty much. The reason why I’m explaining this is because VCS has LCS beat in pretty much every way except for the map because 3D universe Liberty City is my favorite GTA map ever.

Revisited:

  • Storyline - VCS. Vic Vance and the Mendez brothers > Lapdog Toni and Massimo who-the-hell-is-he-anyway Torini.
  • A.I. - It's generally the same, so tie. As for rival gangsters hitting on Vic for taking over empire buildings, it's not much different from the hitmen of Toni's mother.
  • Map - Liberty City.
  • Vehicles - Probably LCS. I prefer their models to those in VCS.
  • Physics - Both are pretty much the same.
  • Features - VCS, no doubt.

And had we wanted to bring the atmosphere on, I'd give it to LCS.

Anyway, overall, I prefer VCS, because it's very easy to overlook the other aspects while I prefer both its gameplay and story to LCS'.

I prefer VCS. I really dug the vibe and aesthetic. Vic Vance was a bit boring IMO, mostly fine, but the rest of the game made up for it. I thought it had some great gameplay changes as well like the empire building.

LCS has grown on me over time, but I was never that big on that honestly. I didn't find it very memorable.

VCS is the clear winner for me, in almost every aspect, especially regarding features. Somewhere it's tied, but in the end, undeniably, it's VCS. Not that LCS is entirely bad, but VCS is easilly the most underrated GTA, considering how much fun it can provide with it's free-roam gameplay features eg; empire building. It's more than a shame not seeing it on couple of more platforms, still don't have a clue what's up with that.

Hopefully - but I'm not keeping my fingers that strongly crossed - we'll get to see these two released on that R* Launcher, which is one of the reasons I even downloaded that thing. Well, the other being " fanboy " vanity, since I already have almost every single genuine copy game, for almost every platform. Not to mention seeing their 3DU games still have the oldest possible bugs there, which doesn't seem encouraging for these two beauties somehow... but there's hoping.

VCS is so underrated!Rockstar definitly should release the LCS&VCS on PC and VCS ON ANDROID!!!

VCS had Empire Building,a good storyline,an amazing map, good vehicles, you can swim unlike VC.The only problem is that considering that the game is set 2 years before VC the city looks more futuristic than "past".

LCS is good game, but the storlyline is not so good, they could added helicopters(if VCS can why not LCS?),and buyable safehouses(why you can't buy safehouses in any game set in LC with the exception of CW??When I mean LC it is 3D and HD).

So VCS is better than LCS.

I guess it's the overuse of neon that makes the city look more futuristic and ahead of the time. Sometimes I think even LCS had this problem but it's not so much with the city and more with other elements, like car designs. The 1998 Manana looks much newer than the 2001 Manana (which is also the design that was used in 1992) so why did the LCS Manana not look like the III or SA Manana?

Back on topic with the futuristic aspects, not sure why they decided to go overboard with the neon lights here. I feel like the 80s aesthetic was kind of overdone in this game and kind of hampered my enjoyment, but it didn't totally ruin it or anything. Just felt too stylized for my tastes.

Happy 13th anniversary to VCS first GTA I played.I still have nostalgia.

Also a late happy birthday to LCS!

Both were good GTA's for the PSP and amazing prequels to III and VC with amazing minigames.

Empire Building is amazing and Vice City 1984 is amazing(and maybe futuristic for 1984).

Slash TV is great and LCS was a good prequel to III as VCS to VC.

I honestly loved the colours of this game. Was just rewatching a playthrough of it and bring back so many memories. It's definitely very stylized, but I like that they tried to set it apart from the original Vice City and give it it's own vibe and aesthetic. I always loved the HUD in this game as well, for some reason.

LCS because not only it makes me crazy nostalgic for the late 90s/early 2000s but also because I'd rather have an errand boy protag than a guy who does nothing but bitch.

Simple - the Manana you saw in III was an 80s compact coupe similar to a K car. The Manana you saw in LCS was a brand new Miata-esque car. Just because the game takes place in 2001 doesn't mean that the Manana is from 2001 you goober lol but I forgive ya

Rockstar wanted to freshen up their vehicle designs and I can't say I blame them, the revisited Manana, Landstalker, and Perennial look amazing compared to the old ones. It's a shame they didn't continue the tradition in VCS (other than the Perennial) but either way, it's just something LCS did nicely that separated them from the rest.

i like toni more as a character and i like the map better, but there is no denying vcs had a better story for what it was. (plus the music was better)

I like LCS's design & style. But, VCS has overall better gameplay and contents I really enjoyed. So, I prefer VCS.

i just really enjoy VCS more. the physics and AI are more or less the same since they are both 3d era games, but i prefer the storyline of VCS over LCS. in fact, i prefer VCS over VC.

Lcs, obviously

Because the Chainsaw in LCS is way better than the Chainsaw in VCS, plus in VCS, the chainsaw doesn't kill by q hit, but in LCS, it does, plus, the storyline of VCS was a bit short, compared to LCS, plus, VCS had 59 storyline missions,  but LCS has 70 storyline missions, also LCS is a bit more enjoyable than VCS, especially the protagonist, Toni Cipriani is better than Vic Vance

Two great games! Although LCS has a wider range of vehicles, VCS has an all-round better story line with more features.

BUT WAIT! In VCS you have to put up with Lance the dumb-ass for the whole game, where as in LCS (WARNING --- SPOILER ALERT) You have to put up with Vinnie, but you kill him off pretty early in the game so even though there is no Characters option, LCS had better characters in my opinion.

Nope. VCS had many more vehicles for example it had planes, many choppers, many more bikes & of course more boats & cars & some special vehicles
