Do you guys think that because rockstar taking baby steps impacting positivity or negatively on GTA next. Or do you think that this won't have a impact on GTA next.

No negative critism(it okay to say a very bad opinion, but don't make fun of my grammar, how old I am etc.)

Does anyone know what the extent of his involvement in developing the game?, And in what way the game evolved

thanks to his ideas, I guess without that information, it will be very difficult to know how the game will change after

his departure, or perhaps we have to wait and see.

-edit-

After reading some info about The Benz, according to my understanding, he doesn't have any contribution to the 'creative' aspect of the

game (story, characters, game features etc..), So I'm guessing GTA VI will not be affected by such a departure, Not to say I'm underestimate his

contributions to the development of the previous games, but apparently, they are related to the technical aspects & Software Engineering,

And I don't think his skills not interchangeable, so I voted 'no'

I voted for the second option but I'm really not sure, I think it's too early for that. From what I've seen, GTA Online is taking a slow and weird turn to surrealism, from "Let's add Lowriders and Mafias to a crime gang" to "Let's add Trackmania-style races and Lazer-pooping Neon Bikes to a crime game". This might be just Rockstar running out of ideas to keep GTA Online interesting, that's why I'm really not sure.

I voted "No". While Leslie was the main creative driving force behind much of North's projects, I doubt there will be a significant impact on the quality of Rockstar's projects moving forward. We may lack the creative drive that kept the team going due to Leslie's great ability to brainstorm, but there are other people that will take his place. Really, we just have to wait and see if RDR2 is going to live up to the quality of past games, but I don't think that will suffice as enough evidence the "coast is clear" until GTAN actually releases.

The difference will not seem too astounding, since he's already built the foundation for these upcoming titles, but you'll notice far less technical innovation moving forward. And less coherent game design, as is already apparent in the latest GTA Online updates. It's not a coincidence RDR2 looks nearly identical to GTAV, despite the 4 year gap between releases. Rockstar will do well for the next decade, simply through brand recognition and microtransactions, but they'll fall behind soon enough.

I think you give too much credit for one person, and we don't know if the foundations that he built were used by the

developers of the latest games(i.e. GTA IV & V), excluding GTA Online, that means they could already be irrelevant long ago.

so I still stand by my opinion although it will be difficult to know for sure.

I am not sure really, seeing as not just Benz left but many people did aswell. I think we will see the new R* when the game after RDR comes out. The reason its not RDR but the next game is because they left after the game was well under development.

If I remember rightly, Benzie's left because of issues relating to him/R* with GTAV/O.

So evidently, the "dispute", if I shall call it that, was about V/O, and in that case, it is likely going to have some sort of impact on the Grand Theft Auto Series. Whether it's good or not, who knows.

I'm pretty sure that Benzie's wanted to keep pushing GTAO forward, whereas other senior figures didn't necessarily want to go down that path. Maybe they wanted to focus on RDR2, or even on the next instalment of the GTA Series. So it'd make sense that there could possibly be some sort of impact.

I guess we'll have to wait and see.

I genuinely don't think it'll have any impact on the process in truth. Having worked for many large scare companies in the past, when the big fish leaves or whatever, very little filters down the ladder to provoke any large scale changes. I could be totally wrong but that's just my own personal experience with it.

This right here.

Maybe we'll see a more SP foccussed game in the future. A return to classic GTA gaming.

More on my wavelength personally. When the SP element of a game runs out, I abondon ship, I'm not for online multiplayer. But then again I'm getting old, I guess I liked it how it was back in the 80's.

Same here. I tried to like GTAO and I've enjoyed it a few times but this happens more often than not: I logged in and had about a million dollars I had saved. Wanted to get the Nissan Skyline, so I had to buy some other apartment block for 400,000 and then it updated/unlocked and I was able to spend money on changing my current Elegy.. it cost something like 600,000! That's all my money gone. Just to get one sh*tty car. I said f*ck..that. I switched thing off and started playing The Witcher.

Yeah maybe I'm getting old too but I remember days when you didn't have to pay to play. You bought a game and that was the game and you either loved it or not.

Sorry for going off topic.

I think Rockstar can replace Leslie with someone else (not undermining his contribution) but based on the supposed evidence that he was pushing this Online stuff, I'm happy to see where GTA goes next. Would love a SP first, Online as added bonus for GTA. All features and clothes unlocked from the beginning. Not Online updates unless it's to compliment/coincide with SP releases. Instead of Online releases being priority, we may SP first and then once you unlock an item in SP and it unlocks Online. No Shark Cards. Rockstar charge for sizable SP DLC. It's the only way I can see Rockstar scrape back any reputation they have for putting the gaming first. They've gone too far down the toilet with Shark Cards and Online.

CD Projekt RED are the new 'up-and-comers' with something to prove like Rockstar once were. Rockstar have now elevated to EA/Activision status of developer douchery.

I agree, in my day you bought a game for the going rate, as you do now. But that was it, when it was done it was done, there was no need to continue shelling out £££ or $$$ or €€€ whatever to get ever more out of what you'd already completed. I'm probably just old, the millennials probably love it no doubt!

Regarding perhaps the phasing out of GTA:O content, for me as you can imagine is a welcoming time if it comes to fruition!

Interesting Article for those who are unaware;

The Benz, former President of Rockstar North,

on the production of his new game, titled, "everywhere".

http://www.polygon.com/2017/1/26/14398978/everywhere-interview-leslie-The Benz-matthew-smith

Not quite fully in relation to this thread, but it linked to it in some senses, and I think this could be almost a view at the contrast between the Grand Theft Auto Series, and his new title, (which is also being made by some Ex-Rockstar North Employees).

If the rumors and lawsuit details are anything to go by, I expect improvements in the aspect of R* not prioritizing Online and dumbing it down with mindless content. Leslie has been envisioning a game world where it's always online-connected, seamless, expanding and where players create their own stories. GTA Online was the first step into realizing this vision, which has changed GTA as we know it, and him not being anywhere North studio might get things back into the normal track. I doubt things would change much especially since Online proved to be lucrative for R* and Take2. RDR2 might be our first peek into what's R* is envisioning without an influence from the Benz.
