It's easy to lose money in this game.

Recommended Posts

I have a fast connection and rarely get random disconnects in other games I play.

However, in GTA, I constantly get "connection has been lost to Xbox Live" or "Character data could not be accessed" or "Rockstar servers are unavailable right now" or some kind of disconnect error message.

This usually happens while I'm in the middle of selling special crates, cars or MC business products. It's quite annoying because Rockstar should detect this and automatically provide a refund or restart the sale.

The problem is it would be far too open to abuse. It's only happened to me once but it was annoying. Maybe you need a better internet connection.

It's not my connection. I have Google Fiber.

Just a suggestion. I personally very rarely have disconnects.

If you loose money due to R* servers playing up (that seems to be what you are getting at) raise a support ticket, and pursue it.

They might refund what you lost, not that I could imagine you lose a lot from getting disconnected.

I have had GTA$ from R* for cars that have disappeared from garages, I know players who have been reimbursed after transfer issues. You really are moaning in the wrong place...

Dude use your head. It doesn't matter if you use google fiber, it's obviously your connection. Thousands of players are on every day without any problem like myself, and I truely have crap internet. Everyone has occasional problems but obviously it's not the Rockstar's servers if you are one of the few that is having problems. Maybe you have a faulty setting, or too many devices using the connection, or something is blocking the router. Do you honestly think Rockstar is gonna go out of their way to figure out what is wrong with your connection problems when you won't even look into it yourself? Why even make a post if you're just going to argue everyone's reply?

Wrong.

The servers are peer-to-peer based means it's not dedicated servers.

If someone with a bad connection happens to be the host of a session then everyone will lag, you could have the best internet available, it's the nature of p2p.

Fast doesn't necessarily mean reliable :p

I did have not got a clue what he was laughing at....?

The original guy claiming to have a fast connection or you for daring to suggest that a fast does not mean reliable. Either way it probably wasn't worth a response, I would guess most people knew what you meant.

Very much this^

I play with people from all over and when Western North America meets Australia meets Eastern Europe meets Eastern Asia, the lag and disconnects from the P2P model can be astronomical. Even those with hyper speed EU internet can suffer greatly depending on the mix of P2P connections and I'd imagine that most of these issues would cease if R* had invested in dedicated servers.

Some, just do your thing and wait 5 min and it is saved? Yeah it sucks but why do you loose money?

I was in the middle of selling product from my cocaine business worth $420,000.

I get a random disconnect message and I'm sent back into story mode.

I get back on and find out I lost all that product plus the money spent on supplies to produce it.

Here is a better question do you only get error messages playing gta online? Because any other multiplayer game works just fine for me expcet gta online. All but one game hmmm I think the game is the problem.

It drives me crazy when I call a mugger and get disconnected.

I just imagine him maundering about, aimlessly, his knife in hand, unsure of whom to mug or exactly why.

Poor mugger. Heck, poor me, out $1,000 bucks!

And let's not even talk about mercs. ugh!

Strange. Since the game is doing something different...

DarkSavageDeathlyCloud

Wait 3 years...by then rockstar is probably done supporting this games, cheaters will be everywhere and you can just go and abbuse this game...

Personaly the reason why i went to pc is to see this game go down and finally have real fun after all that legit grinding....

Unless rockstar wants to award ever person that played this broken game by gifting them 50 ingame mil each if they have played after 2015 and 100 mil if they played before that since they f*cking deserve it !

Edit: lol at the players saying it HAS to be the OP's internet connection :p

You don't just say that without the gif to go with it:

That said, it's true that a fast connection isn't always a steady or reliable connection. But still, most of this stuff is pretty clearly on Rockstar's side - it's well known that lately there's been a wave of "saving failed", and other weird stuff.

Xbox version have been having these problems for months after rockstar patched the mc glitch.

If you don't play the same version and claim it doesn't happen to you then your reply is meaninglessness.

Now what?

I'm on XB1 and I have these issues.

I play mta and samp for san andreas on pc and barely get any issues with the game except the ones from playing on an outdated laptop. I have more network issues and "timeouts" a day playing gta online than I have ever gotten with those 2 mods. Hundreds of players on stable dedicated servers with a map editor for mta that can let me do anything I can think of not silly limitations like gta online creator. lol The only time I lost money in samp was when I spent it all attempting to win a lottery on a role play server. lol

I'm a bit tired of hearing people say, I have a brilliant connection so why am I having problems with Rockstar's servers?

Because you're not actually playing on a Rockstar server - you only connect to Rockstar servers to send and retrieve specific player data.

Imagine being in a lobby with 16 players, when 8 players have a split connection, leaving you with 8 players remaining in the lobby. One or more of those 'split' players were delivering cargo for you so you lose money. This sort of thing would not happen if everyone was on a dedicated server - only the person with the crappy connection would 'split' from the lobby, and probably wouldn't affect you.

Put it this way. Every time I lose my connection or get split from other players in GTA online, I'm still on Xbox Live as normal - no problem connecting to Microsoft's dedicated Xbox servers.
