Why I think GTA Advance is the worst GTA game in the whole series

(P.S: This review is irrelevant and foolish. I replayed the game again and it was actually a lot better than I thought, my negative views that I wrote during this review was simply a product of the "argument from ignorance" logical fallacy. A lot of things I presented as downsides actually have features that rule them out as problems which I couldn't notice because I wasn't paying any attention to the game.

Just ignore this review, it sucks Love Fist's bollocks.)

GTA Advance is not known by many GTA fans, because it was released on GameBoy Advance right when Playstation, Xbox and PC had taken over the video game world.

It's a 2d top-down game like GTA 1, GTA London 1969 & 1961 and GTA 2, but it's story is set in the 3D universe (that's why you see a lot of characters from GTA III and LCS).

Before the game starts, you see something that resembles an intro for like a minute, yeah, you literally see just text about the game developers for a minute without anything else from the game, other GTA games had intros where they show some footage from the game while the game's developers, producers animators etc are shown, but not in this one, all you see is just some text and some things that look like butterflies which have nothing to do with the game.

The game has a good cutscene system for a 2D GTA game, in GTA 1 and GTA2, all you could see in phone missions was just 1 or 2 sentences.

The driving sucks, the handling isn't bad, but it's very easy to crash, in other 2D GTA games, the camera zooms out depending on how fast you're going so you can see what's in front of you and avoid crashing, but in this one, it only zooms out very little so when you're driving towards the right (no matter which side of the road you're on) you will crash into a car that you didn't see because it was too in front of the camera, another bad thing is the crash physics, in other GTA games if you hit the side of a car, it will probably bounce away out of your way, but in this game, no matter which side of the car you hit, it will just bounce like 1 centimeter away, and you'll have to keep crashing into it to get it out of your way.

Now about the weapons, the weapons are the worst thing in this game, have you ever played a GTA game where killing someone with bullets takes longer than beating them to death? The bat is very annoying, if 3 or 4 guys are attacking you (with punchs) and you're swinging your bat at them, they won't get stunned, they will keep hitting you and the bat does a 90 degrees turn in front of you and the bat won't do damage to an enemy even if it hits him, it's impossible to know if you're hitting them, but in the end, you'll always be the one to die. The only gun i managed to kill people with is the shotgun, but even that was sh*tty, the enemies always seem to walk towards you so when you fire the gun while they're right at your face, the bullet will penetrate through them and miss, and you can't punch with a weapon to kill someone that's right on your face, you have to get back a little and shoot them with the gun.

The movement also sucks, in GTA 2, when you press Left or Right (on the D-pad), it will make you spin and you can spin as much as you want (360 degrees) so you'll be able to shoot wherever you want, but in this game, you can only face up, down, left right, or rear, if an enemy is 60 degrees towards you, you're f*cked, you can only face 45 or 90 degrees so you'll have to get closer to them to kill them with your gun.

This is why GTA Advance is the sh*ttiest GTA game ever made.

Well, they have decided to release a top-down game to a handheld console that wasn't very good to begin with, they've basically did it to have a GTA on a Nintendo console. Yes, the game was bad, but they were very limited on what they could and could not do. From what I've read, Nintendo was also skeptical about a GTA on their console, as most of their players were kids, so it had to be toned down a lot. But I think Rockstar redeemed themselves with GTA LCS/VCS and Chinatown Wars, much more enjoyable games to have in your hands (pun intended).

Wasn't GTA Advance for GameBoy Advance? I think you're confusing it with GTA Chinatown Wars.

Chinatown Wars was one of my favourite GTA games, it was nowhere near bad.

GameBoy Advance is also from Nintendo.

Doesn't this belong in the GTA Advance section?

No, I'm sharing my opinion of which GTA i think is the worst in this topic, nothing to do with GTA Advance's story, missions, gameplay or anything else.

I think GTA Advance is great for what it is. You can set the camera mode in the pause menu and lock it to maximum view, so that complaint isn't entirely justified.

Hold R to strafe. You can shoot diagonally too.

Half of your complaints sound like they stem from a lack of skill.

I don't think a ped that resists 40 bullets shot and directly hit him has anything to do with "lack of skill".

Peds go down with two or three shots. Dunno where you got 40 from, that sounds like you can't aim for sh*t.

Well, not 40 but i had 12 pistol bullets, i shot all of them at a single enemy and he did not die, and I'm 110% sure that all of the bullets hit the enemy.

This game is a bridge between GTA2 for GBC and GTA CTW for DS. It's not a PC or PS Title and even It's so much improved from GTA2 for GBC. You remember that game? Yes, it sucks. Spin with D pad, walk forward with A. What were R* people smoking?

sh*tty aiming? That problem was solved in GTA CTW with auto aiming, but some still don't like it and they insist at least that game has an option for free aiming. If you have any more problem over your own practices, you may choose shotgun for alternative. Too strong enemy? It makes you challenging, and not a big problem in 2D shooting games. Don't confuse hard enemies with shi*ty enemies. Strong enemies in Shoreside Vale easily die with assault rifle, shotgun and flamethrower.

GTA Advance don't deserve all the hate. It is a great game if you dig well enough; I say it's the most underrated Grand Theft Auto game ever.

GTA Advance is a pretty good game. Considering the gameboys technological limitations, it's pretty amazing how they managed to pull it off. The game has a good story. It is not a masterpiece but its enjoyable. You just need to give it some time.

For the record, there is no such thing as "the worst GTA game"

Why are you replying to almost a year old thread.

Because this subsection is very inactive, so this pointless topic is still near the top of the page genius. also, why respond in such an arsey way to a person who took the effort to respond to your wearisome text of hate?

OT

OK, fair enough, I think your hopes were a tad bit too high for a 2004 advance game though. I thought the game was good for what it was & I would take it over the original GTA simply for the minimap alone & the fact it has a wider array of weapons.

I'd appreciate if someone locked this thread, it was simply stupid and I don't want people to take it seriously anymore.

Go to forums support and request to an admin to lock it then
