Do you think the A.I is designed to go against you?

Recommended Posts

Ice_cold2016

I'm talking the A.I while playing online. For example. Often i find that when i'm just free roaming and being killed etc, i re-spawn and there are no cars in sight or close by. Yet when i'm playing CEO, Bikers, stealing cars, delivering drugs etc and trying to get from point A to B to make some cash, i find there are all of a sudden cars in the way everywhere. And it seems they do all they can to annoy you and go against you. They all of a sudden pull out in front of you, change lanes in front of you, stop in front of you, crash into you etc etc. This doesn't seem to happen when just free roaming around. Is it just me who thinks/notices this? lol

We all know the A.I is GTA is way ahead of anything else out there and very impressive, so it wouldn't surprise me if this is true.

What do you think?

Yeah. AI drivers definitely get more erratic when I'm either stealing or selling an export car.

giphy1_zpso6q6g7tu.gif

pmsl! Yeah, that's it!

I was just playing CEO and trying to deliver some cars back to my warehouse undamaged and i could swear the traffic was doing all it could to damage the car. Cars turning full circle on a whim, changing lanes just as i got near them, a bus appeared out of nowhere and smashed into me. I can dodge them for the most part but it gets a bit ridiculous at times.

You mean like this?

Is that one actually real? That seems a bit too much of a piss take that one. I've never seen actual people respawn like that. Mad.

Just thinking about them is making me feel pretty angry right now.

(And yes; they're designed to f*ck everything up).

The person or team who decided it was a good idea to make the AI in GTA act as if they are being controlled by f*cking agent smith, and whoever thought about turning it up a notch for imp/exp, i just want to say, i wish you a prolonged and agonizing torment in hell and 300 years of trolling of the same kind for any of your offsprings in real life. You are sinister evil and deserve punishment and suffering!! Or you're just a really bad/lazy programmer in which case, i wish you the same, youuuuuu sonovabich.

I think they're in "panic mode" ... like when there is shootings everywhere...
Except that this "panic mode" applies to cars/vehicles spawning all around you even if you're not in range of said shootings (by enemy AIs).

As long as there is those enemy AIs on the map, civilian AIs will be chaotic.

But I'm not sure they target you specifically, if it's something intended by Rockstar to f*ck you up (wouldn't surprise me), or if this is just messed up instead of waving away from you they wave into/in front of you...

Maybe.

Is the Pope Catholic? :p

Of course, without a doubt; though it does happen outside of actual game modes as well. Seems as though every time I want to just take a drive and not scratch up the car, someone abruptly changes lanes and purposely runs into me. Instead of backing up or waiting for you to get out of the way, they seem to be programmed to just floor the accelerator and cause as much damage as possible.

Though you're right, it does seem worse during game modes--especially I/E when driving the cars during a delivery instead of using the Cargobob.

Yes, I've caught a car speed up to hit my guy. I've also had it where a car was parked sideways in the middle of the road just sitting there waiting my guy to go past so it could hit me. So yes their designed to get in your way and slow you down.

Definitely yes on the topic question, most of the npc drivers being female. They seem to drive as bad as it is being said about women driving in reallife. :panic:

Obviously. R* wants you to buy cards. R* finds ways to hinder you in ways that limits your income of GTA bucks. Simple.

I thought I was the only one who noticed this. Whenever I bring my car fresh out of LS Customs or my garage and I'm trying to keep it clean and fresh, I'll get a lot of AI drivers swerving in front of me, driving erratically and purposefully trying to crash into me. It's so annoying.

Glad to see the responses that say, 'yes' in this thread.

The whole game now is designed to be a money drain, grind and most importantly, has taken the unprecedented step in the last year of coding situations to MAKE you fail that are both unfair and flat out trolls.

That's why I've said previously R* is trolling the playerbase. The whole game exists to push cash cards which is really sad. It used to be a game first, selling cash cards was present but the the game wasn't tailored to it. Now it's no longer about gaming, it's about selling cash cards and content is designed to that end.

The change in reason for existence and the flat out trolling nature of the recent DLCs have really damaged my love for the game. So much potential in GTA:O but they piss on PVE players, give nice bling bling but provide unimaginative DLCs that are nothing but 'go here, go there' while ducking tryhards in forced public lobbies. There is nothing fun about it anymore. There is certainly no story. Just repetitive crap that uses other players in addition to 'coded to fail' situations against you. You simply cannot defend yourself against AI that spawn in 40 feet from you with no warning shooting with terminator accuracy, or in cases shooting BEFORE they've become visible to you.

If smart players such as yourself OP start to see this, maybe this'll lead to less sales for R*. I'm wary of R* now due to where they are going with this game. It's not quality gaming experiences they are selling. GTA:O is now a vehicle to make you into repeat customers. I fear this will become their dominant business model across the board. PVE and stories be damned. It's PVP, major grind fests with huge potential for losses, pick pocketing players and sub-par trolling content that strongly encourages you to buy a cash card that rules the day.

I wouldn't agree with that. Yes, it's designed with shark cards in mind but they haven't stopped us earning decent money and the increased difficulty of AI isn't impossible to deal with - personally I welcome the increase in difficulty, 3 years of playing against dumb AI, it needs this new challenge.

But props to Rockstar, they are always giving us ways to earn great money, from an extra $20k for a car sale for 2 weeks or double money on adversary modes, premium races and currently double money on biker contracts (which alone made me almost $1.25m last night in a few hours!)

If it was really just about them selling shark cards I wouldn't have been able to go from this

to this

in a few hours of playing (and enjoying 30 contracts at 5 minutes a pop for 3 hours) last night. With 11 more days to go, that's a fairly big chunk of cheese.

I've sunk so much money repairing my cars at the custom shops thanks to some idiot switching lanes without looking, when you got OCD you get triggered af.

*Sorry for potato quality*

I feel the AI end up driving in the same manner as how they do this...

Bm1kaAm.gif

I wish I could get a 1 shot kill with a pistol on a player with half health from moderate sniping distance, but what can you do ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

*I also recall an AI in one of the chase vehicle cargo missions the AI in the FMJ I was supposed to steal decided to drive into the train causing about $30k damage. I have no clue where the repair limit went but it must have forgotten to enable itself, so yeah, talk about erratic driving. Then I may have shot down a police heli which landed on the car causing an extra $10k or so.

Thing is that the AI didn't get any smarter - it got more difficult to play against, but not smarter.

If the AI got an intelligence increase it would find better paths to attack, try flanking you more, try new tactics.

What I've seen since the I/E update is instances of players getting shot to death upon spawn (as in the enemy NPC begins firing before the player can actually target them properly), civillian NPCs going out of their way to get in a player's way while driving, enemy NPCs somehow emptying an entire mag of a rifle in seconds, etc.

I would welcome an actual AI improvement fix, making NPCs try new tactics, attack you in a more intelligent way, not just zerg rush the player until they die, but that's not what we've got.

It's so bad now I walk around with my inventory screen open. I NEVER used snacks until a couple of months ago but I blow through them now like I have a crack addiction. Got tired of being in situations where 2-3 shots kill me before I see where they're coming from. Oh yeah, they also seem to be hiding red blips too, that's fun. In being shot at, can't see where from, not a single blip on the screen.

Traffic is abysmal...and somehow keeps getting worse.

Spawn points are also pretty bad now. Die near the car I'm going to steal, end up two blocks away or worse, on the street BELOW where I was at. No reason I should have to drive back to where I was a moment ago.

All I can say is my office has probably paid for itself in snacks alone...

I think the way the AI has been tweaked is cheap and lazy.

Paying for Import/Export damage on cars isn't my gripe - it's that these idiots crank up the frustration to eleven with erratic driving, pinpoint accuracy and bullet-sponge stamina.

While I agree that they aren't smarter (I didn't mean to imply they were) it's a new challenge none the less. Like you, I too would welcome AI improvement (along with a fix to the stealth side of things which is pretty much missing despite the stat).

The part I disagreed with was the whole money grind/shark car thing. Yes, it's been (re)built around shark cards, I don't deny that but my point is, even with the AI set to insane damage and accuracy and their pistols that beat our heavy snipers, they still give us plenty of chance to make money.

How is that grinding? It was fun, varied and (as can be seen by kills/deaths) had a small interval where we needed to deal with freeroam tryhards.

The selection of contracts was nice and varied. If playing the game and running contracts/jobs etc. is classed as grinding I don't know what wouldn't be, isn't that the point of playing the game? Or should I just be stood around in freeroam with my bullet proof hat on and armed to the teeth with rockets?

Either way, how many contracts would you consider as not being grinding? If I had left it 10 minutes between each and only carried out 10 of them in the 3 hours while wasting 2 hours of my time standing around being a tool I would have still earned over $300k

I use the cargobob now almost everytime when I sell a car. F*ck that bullsh*t! And I lag myself out before I start the selling mission. Not because I'm afraid of other players but because of that bug, that let the bob lose the cars when other players are around. F*ck that bullsh*t too!

I also have the feeling that the scripting of the traffic has changed to f*ck you up in general, especially when doing time trials or MC-clubhouse missions. You can clearly see the crossing traffic is scripted to unnaturaly speeding up or stopping to get in your way.

Hate it when the AI do that, especially from that kind of distance. Though I should mention you probably got shot by the one guy that carries a Heavy Revolver, which is why you died instantly. But that accuracy though... Way OTT.
