I think GTA 6 should have a more serious, realistic storyline but maybe contrast that with a wacky Online. The current Online is already unrealistic even compared to GTA 5

I think every GTA game has a mix of realism and crazy over the top stuff. They just balance it a bit differently each time. The "most serious" game GTA IV still has its action packed moments and humour (plus there's TBOGT), and GTA V might have some insane missions and a lot of silliness but there's also a lot of serious and dark moments between the characters. I hope that they'll lean more on the realism side but I'm sure it'll be a mix of both again.

 

I can't believe current GTA Online will be a model for the next story mode, that would be a disaster if they're hoping for any acclaim for their storytelling which they usually strive for. I'm hoping they consider Online the place for extra wacky stuff and leave story mode out of it.

I think people take "realism" too literally. R* are never going to make the games so we have to tedious sh*t pay bills, do groceries etc and basically the inconveniences of real life. GTA IV is technically the most "realistic" GTA yet at its core it's still carefree and lets us indulge in its own wackiness. Hey running over people and watching them fly all over the place isn't realistic, but GTA IV lets me do it. Throwing Niko around would kill him in real life, but the hilarious Euphoria physics provide that sense of escapism, but if I want to mellow out and want to play it more "realistically" I can and arguably it does it better than any other game in the series. That is the feeling I want from GTA VI.

 

If GTAO is the model for GTA VI's story then God help us all. We'll be bikers one moment, super agents the next, bank robbers the next. What an inconsistent piece of sh*t that would be just like GTAO currently is.

I do want realism in a certain circumstances, like RDR2 where combat physics and gunplay make it the point of attention.  Like IVs raw physics but of course defined to a point where its believable and wacky. I really hope we are able to grab enemies like RDR2 in nod with VCS grappling system that i loved snapping peds head, hell make it return to true stealth and not what we have in V. Vs physics feed off L.A. Noires stiffness.

Players sucked at driving in gta iv, than said the game sucked because of it, instead of learning how to play the video game.  R* listened to that nonsense unfortunately. 

They made the physics super easy in gta v, players somehow got worse at driving than they did in gta iv. They suck so much at driving, that they make the npc drivers look like good drivers. 

Its not the game, its definitely the player who sucks at the game. :D

Problem is they have too much attention to detail for certain things, but other things they just completely ignore. 

 

I believe SA had more missions with "steatlh" than V did, while also having crouch, a stealth kill with knife, and a silenced pistol. Plus didn't punish you for not using stealth, or if you failed being stealthy. That mission to break into Michael's house you would fail the mission if you alerted the gardener. :D

Back with gta 3, they said they were making a driving and shooting game, so it would be good to not just have the good combat and gunplay of rdr2, and still have good, semi realistic driving physics. A mix of sa and iv driving physics, if done well, would be much more enjoyable for everyone.

 

Classic example is the Super GT in SA. That car is a pain to drive with it having basically no rear grip when making a turn causing it to spin out super easily. Even after years of playing with the car, I still can't quite get the corners right. Than you have driving school which makes you drive the super gt for the final test. Quite a lot of players couldn't complete it. :D

The Super GT is even listed as one of the worst cars in gta sa. lol

Some realistic features that i expect to see is the players inventory. In GTA V the player carries around 30 different weapons at the same time. i expect to see something like a Bag that the player carries  around. carrying smaller weapons in the bag and keeping the Bigger ones in the trunk of your car.

If possible then the trunk will have limited storage as well. you keep the rest of your weapons in your safe houses. there was a bit of a inventory system in GTA: CTW.
