Drop Club
Hello friends! Does anybody know about this bug(?): SA have some places wth top speed limit (about 150 km/h). I test it in MTA:SA and GTA:SA, and it is in both places. May be i can edit this areas/top speed in this areas? Example video in MTA: Edited January 3, 2017 by Drop Club Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/877590-gta-sa-have-top-speed-limit-for-some-places/ Share on other sites
Kingbing
You seem to be going much faster than you could in the stock game. Are you using a mod? thehambone
Does it only happen on bridges? If I had to guess, the game could be limiting your speed so it can ensure the next area (island) is loaded before you get there. Don't quote me on that though. Colbertson
Theres a few spots where R* put in speed limits, such as the strip in Las Venturas and others. Not sure why they are there though. Also, whats that hud, with the edges fading out? iFarbod
This actually came to my interest and made me do some research on it. SA has a cull zone flag called 'ExtraAirResistance' (16,384/0x4000) which can limit the player's vehicle speed so you can't reach its top speed, some zones such as Gant Bridge, and The Strip are using this flag. (Check out data\maps\cull.ipl) *****2059.89, 1283.06, 9.82222, 0, 419.826, 9.82222, 27.4995, 0, 39.8222, 16384, 0 So it technically doesn't count as a 'bug', but rather an intended feature. PS: I did a little something to 'bypass' this flag to remove the speed limit, you can download it here. EDIT: Documented this flag in the wiki. Interesting, why would Rockstar add something like that? Two reasons I suspect. 1. To make the city feel larger - I've often suspected the speed is actually fairly low since if you view the game with a high draw distance you'll notice the cities are actually pretty tiny. 2. As you suggested before, probably to allow the Playstation 2 (the game's primary dev target) to load the textures / models for the city by the time you get there. iFarbod 1 Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/877590-gta-sa-have-top-speed-limit-for-some-places/#findComment-1069335486 Share on other sites
