GTA V picks up two Steam Awards

Not my personal pick for the "Whoa, dude" award, but hell I can't say I'm not content with V winning. It deserves both awards, so congrats R*.

Prizes were bs IMO. "Test of Time" and "Whoa, dude" being the best examples of winners that I think don't deserve it more than other games out there.

Well done to GTA Online. What's a GTA V?

I've seen a bunch of people get pretty bent out of shape over this on Twitter as well, but as far as I can tell they're just pissed the awards didn't go to some indie arthouse bullsh*t like Gone Home or Undertale or something. As far as I'm concerned, any game that manages to keep so many people this genuinely entertained so many years after release (3 is a long time in game years. :p) deserves SOME kind of award. Congrats Rockstar!

IV should have won ALL of the awards..

Nah, 50/50 award split between San Andreas and IV :p

No, IV should win ALL of the awards every year.

ALL

IV deserves it, V doesn't deserve to win at all, it deserves to be removed from Steam cuz it sux

This should not have happened

Care to elaborate? :p

I know there have been a lot of issues with the PC release, but the awards were won through votes from the community (i.e. the players) so it's not completely biased.

I don't understand why someone who posts that would even bother with this forum. Why are you still here?

The "Game Within A Game" Award

"Kinder Eggs. Peanut Butter Cups. Jelly Donuts. All great things stuffed with other great things. Like a mighty turducken, this award celebrates the best mini game hidden within another game."

trophylarge6.png

am i the only one that knew gta online came with the game ??

hidden and mini are not the words i would choose to describe gtaO and i doubt people voted arm restling or darts as the best mini game

Obviously! Grand Theft Auto IV has the best PC port of all time. It's well-optimized, and totally doesn't have 3 f*cking DRMs piled on top of it.

I guess the vote was for Online as the game within a game, and not necessarily directed towards only mini-games as the description suggests, or maybe its just the popularity of GTA V that worked in its favor.

Hate to piss on the IV fans' collective campfires, but these are specifically PC gongs, and GTAIV on PC is an unmitigated disaster whose only saving grace is the potential for screwing around with mods for the ten minutes or so before it crashes. The fact that I am forced to use a set of potentially dubious .DLLs just so I can enjoy the privilege of SAVING MY DAMN GAME on a title I legally bought through Steam is testament to just how badly they f*cked up. In fact, even with the rampant performance issues in V ever since the Bikers update, it STILL runs better than IV.

Which is a shame, because I quite like GTAIV.

Those complaining about IV not winning an award seem to forget that it's an 8 year old game, as well as the fact that the Steam Awards were basically a popularity contest.

IV didn't deserve either of those awards either anyway, QUBED sucks f*cking horse dick.

There's fun a mini-game in GTA V? I don't remember... and I've 100%'d it twice. Unless you count tennis as a mini-game, I was imagining something more like QUBED from GTA IV.

I get the impression that the mini game one is aimed at GTA Online and not an actual mini game, as it's like an open world set within and apart from the base game of singleplayer and since it's the only part that gets updated it's essentially a separate game now but still within GTA V.

As far as I understand it, the community submitted nominations for these categories but Steam themselves picked the final nominees for voting, so even if I'm wrong and it's about yoga or something, out of a list of 5 it's not surprisingly that it won a majority in all the categories it got entered into regardless of the description.

If it's not aimed at GTAO, then it's definitely aimed at golf.. :p Was such a fun minigame.

I've never played a game as often or heavily as GTA V. While it may not be the best game, it definitely has staying power. I'm often drawn back to it despite all my complaints, which is remarkable. And that's mostly due to online. There's so much to do and experience. So I totally understand the second award. But I do not think GTA V deserves the first award. The story mode was meh at best.

I like they paint they have on those awards. Looks a lot like they paints jobs from GTA:O Cars. I guess GTA V PC has a lot of fans, irrespective of all the negligence. The only reason why GTA V sold so much on steam was due to the lack of the Physical Copies online or offline.
