Some attitudes in this topic really stink. if you can't take the heat, get out of the kitchen. Don't ever try and dictate topics and tell people to shut up, that's our job.

Sound advice from the gallery, for all of us. My intent is always to create threads for fun and/or worthy discussions.

It bums me out when the discussions go sour and the thread gets locked or wrist-slapped because of some downward spirals.

Anyhow, I think the bottom lines of the discussion are:

• some people agree that Jet griefing is, and has been, a problem and would like to see Rockstar handle it somehow.

• some people agree that Jet grief is, and has never been, a problem and think there are other ways to handle it without Rockstar.

While both may be true in their perspective, I find that Jet griefers interfere with legitimate gameplay for many of us.

It happened tonight when I was trying to get a stolen Bestia to my warehouse. Guy in Hydra came at me with all guns blazing.

Luckily, I got it back with only $3K in damage, but when I came out of the warehouse, there he was hovering, and got me gud. <sigh>

I love the idea of an air-based mercenary system, especially one that includes hiring other players.

It could be a real test of mettle to see if a jet griefer could handle being merc'd by two or three jet merc players trying to collect on him/her.

Anyhow, great discussion. Not sure if anything will ever be done, but it would be nice if Rockstar took notice of the issue.

For better or worse. Cheers! :)

Rockstar employees taking notice of the issue.

Well said. Bring up any other topic in GTA and nobody bats an eye because it's all "part of the plan." Bring up jet greifing and then everybody looses their mind!

Back to your original idea....

You can call merryweather to send ground mercenaries on players on the ground. Why not have the ability to send air mercenaries against players in the air? Everyone might might have their own ideas on the best way this can be done, but I think we can all agree that something has to be done.

Make this 150k (true strike) only able to be called if you own a yacht. Special attachment from Merryweather to increase Yacht Defenses (1 million) 60 second CD. Install one set of flares to military vehicles.

Edit- If no yacht is owned 300k per order.

Those prices are ridiculous, considering the fact that once the craft is destroyed. They can just go get another one, and what.. you call in another 150k strike?

I believe that's pretty fair. I'm sorry you haven't acquired your wealth yet, but I honestly look at the attack option as a luxury. To pay for a 3rd party attack that is almost certainly going to strike your target (like the mugger that shanks you into the ground for 8 seconds/rounds of mercs) if unprepared. I don't think think at that level, it's something that should cost anything under 100k. There are multiple ways to take out jets in lobbies. Alternating homing/marksmen, well timed rpg/homing/grenade launcher to the face, air strike, buzzard, etc. My friends and I love to pop kids outta their jets when they come in so confidently lol. So yes, I think it would be nice to use when you have multiple asshats in jets just giving grief to everyone. Giving the out numbered a chance to restore peace if needed. Problem is, regardless passive mode needs to be re-tuned. You shouldn't be able to go in passive mode regardless of the situation in any vehicle that has weapons, or within 30 seconds of killing someone. if that were to happen, and this was brought to life.. I think it would help restore order to the unplayable lobbies.

Jets are incredibly powerful in the right hands, but not invincible. A good player should be able to get their hydra, or even better a zancudo lazer in the air to deal with it. (It's free, and is much better at taking down hydras due to superior maneuverability.) Heck, even a moderately skilled player can use their sniper rifle to weaken the plane or outright kill it.

That said, I voted "somewhat likely" and 20k cost, even though I do at times use a lazer to mercilessly kill those who threaten the business that I or my team are doing. This is a bit of a win/win for me, since I love dogfighting, and assuming it's more jets coming after you like a wave of the jets you fight in the Hydra stealing heist setup, that would be fun. Heck, I would love a sixth star in GTA V just generally that would get the national guard after you. More challenge plz!!!

I also have great fun laughing at (trolling) those who get so frustrated with me that they call in mercenaries in a last ditch effort to deal with me. It's adorable. I'd probably rub the cost in their faces while shooting them down, like I do when dealing with mercs. Or hey, maybe I get shot out of the sky, que sera sera, then it's up to the ground game.

Where this idea falls flat is up against the dirtbags that exploit jets with passive mode, the real villains of the sky. Unless it would negate their ability to do so, in which case I'm all for it.

The simplest solution is just to remove the blast radius on the cannons. They can still do their ungodly damage, but it'll actually take some skill to get groundie kills.

Spending money to get a jet out of the air momentarily with a dodgy phonecall isn't going to fix the problem in the long run, and neither will AI jets spawning ambiently at a higher notoriety.

I myself am sometimes a jetsh*tter, and know where the problem lies. It's not that someone else can't go get a jet and get me down, it's not that the sniper rifles don't do enough damage. It's that the jets themselves do too much damage, have too much range, and their cannons have a larger blast radius than need be. A couple of dorky AI jets aren't going to stop me when I'm on the tear, and if they do, it's less money than a pair of sunglasses to go get another Skill Machine.

The cycle never ends because the cannons are too powerful.

@.Vooodu. is right. This is probably the biggest part of it - "you cannot fight a jet if you're busy doing something else."

Scenario (for those who still don't get it):

You just survived a return trip all the way from Sandy Shores to your office at Maze Bank through a full lobby of aggressive thugs.

At your office, you buy some snacks from your receptionist, go to your desk, sit down, log in to the computer, and make decisions about which way to make money next.

You decide to source a vehicle.

So, you hire a couple of thugs to help you out, and you agree to meet up and do this job.

You head out, get the Assistant's call, and gather your team.

Everyone heads out and drives five minutes up toward Grapeseed in the north.

As you approach the vehicle you've sourced and head toward it, a Jet comes out of nowhere, blows your PV off the map, and decimates your two associates.

When you respawn, he swings by again and wastes you with cannon fire and blows up the vehicle you sourced, completely by chance.

Retaliating does little good, as telephone poles, mountains, and trees break the lock with the Homing Launcher.

When you finally do get a lock, the Jet pilot loops out of the lock, rinse and repeat. He wastes you again.

This happens repeatedly until you retire, go into Passive, and head back to the city to either try again or you just change sessions out of frustration.

THIS is what "busy doing other things" actually means. :)

And the thing is... The jet can get the jump on players pretty easily. If theres one thing a jet can do better then anything is target a single vehicle on the road as fast a possible.

So.. AFTER getting killed by the jet, players will probably end up fighting back.

I mean realistically.. Once everyone starts shooting back the jet will need to back off or it will get taken down.

But now.. EVen if you take down the jet everyone just wasted 10-20 mins. And then you have to go all the way back to the the Business.. or Warehouse or Club House and start over. Which can take another 5-10 mins. Not to mention that a total free roam war can break out after the jet troll gets taken down.. So tack on another 20-30 mins of that sh*t.

Basically one JET can mean alot of time wasted.... Depending on where it all happens. Players can end up wasting nearly an hour getting nothing done and fighting players who use jets.

That being said.. Some players play to grind money.. Some play for fun and just want to play the content. And most players don't have countless hours to spend trying to tippy toe around jets in free roam OR fighting them.. just to play the NEW content. .

Anyways.. Sort of related. But sort of funny. Heres a jet troll i helped take down.. His jet was smoking so he bailed. NO doubt on his way to the helipad for a new one. He tried to RPG me.. I chopped his face in and made him blow himself up instead.. Hahahahaha..

http://xboxclips.com/Vooodu/3b979c08-4905-4efd-b65c-6de6a298b812

I mean i don't do free roam missions in PACKED public lobbies. But i do help randoms by sniping at jets and then trolling jet trolls once grounded.

i'd say putting a mine on path to helipad does help you a bit , but you cannot rigs all helipad and mine itself only limited up to 5 batch active , threwing 6th one will replace the 1st one ( unless its a mine glitch , to point the mine will remain there no matter how many times it triggered )

though if 2 random vehicles are already spawn there first , then the pegasus won't let the jet pilots claim their jet ( which people believes the spawn is bugged but the random aircraft spawn there obstructing it )

But seriously, if this merry weather service will work, the jets from Fort Zancudo are needed. Those AI pilots will slaughter any jet griefer. Make it cost 10k or so and a 30 min cool down to prevent spamming. Locked to level 250 and above. Also, it should be able to target and continually be able to kill them. Unless they have not killed you once.

Level locking anything never makes sense.. Im 100% against anything level locked anything in any game. I hate that sh*t...

GTA is GTA Money based. Thats the lock..

Level locking something like jet protection against jets would mean jet trolls would seek out lower levels instead.

I have to agree. Level locking doesn't even work in this game, anyway.

How many times have I been sniped by a level 10, while the Sniper rifle unlocks at level 90... or hit by an RPG from a level 22, while RPG unlocks at 100. Tank? Minigun? meh.

But, I do agree, about it being about the player, not the jet. Truth is truth. :)

Jet can be a problem but what about armoured Karumas, Insurgents, Marksman shufflers, RPG EWO spammers, the Explosive Throwers, Passive Mode abusers, the ones that continually die but fight back just to de-rail your activities? All of these can be used if Jets aren't used and are often more annoying to deal with than a Jet flying around.

It's all about scoping the landscape before work. If the killfeed isn't filling the screen and you see a few red icons moving around, it's a pretty passive lobby. Not all the time but just have to deal with the hand your given. Win some, lose some.

Or the three years of posts about this subject prior to this thread. Whatever. It's such a dumb argument, I don't think even the people who say it believe it. If the best "solution" is effectively just QUITTING THE GAME, you're acknowledging that the problem is real.

"Skill Machine" 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 This guy.. If that was the case, everyone is skilled when it comes to jets. It's absolutely a piece of cake to dominate with the jet. The simple solution would be to get rid of those sh**y, overpowered noob cannons. Also, decreasing the blast radius does absolutely nothing when you have unlimited, rapid fire exploding rounds. It probably won't stop jet pilots who know how to dogfight.

We'll have a design in a way that Jets won't stop coming after the pilot until he crashes or dies.

I, like many others already raised this idea before. Kudos to you OP for bringing up this idea again.
Originally, I suggested that when we send mercenaries to a player, if he is in a jet or tank, he would be met by a jet or a tank as well. So, $7500 is just right.

I was thinking that this isn't meant to put the opposing Jet Pilot out of the sky but rather to buy time to be able to get in a Jet yourself without having to go passive. (A wise pilot would probably patrol all hydra spawn locations)
Nice Post OP.

Everything you just posted can be easily dealt with in a much more fair and even playing field.

Someone who EWO's ain't gonna be back on your ass in two seconds..

Explosives... Still gotta catch the players.

Passive... So?

Marksmen... Keep driving? Sniper gonna do what?

Everything you mentioned is not even close to a jet.

A jet can be anywhere on the map in seconds OR a minute. Has no cops or traffic to deal with and has Unlimited EXPLOSIVE rounds..

Not sure how you would compare a jet to someone blowing their brains out. But im not shocked that Diana actually thought you brought up a good point..lol

You take down the jet. How long would it take on average for them to retrieve a new jet and continue? That's if someone else hasn't already decided to be the King of the Sky.

You take out a sticky-thrower-marksmen shuffler-EWO when hit-Passive user? How long till they respawn and continue, a few seconds? Unlimited ammo with a few clicks. Constant distraction to your activities. Then they hang out the front of your office/apartment/warehouse. These players can trap you inside a complex.

Both are negative impacts on the game and can have a serious effect on the whole Co-Op side of the game. Players will always look for the option easiest to kill with and hard to be killed in.

Best option would be instead of trying to take down griefers with nerfs/added options is to ignore the griefers. Find like-minded people with the same playstyle and enjoy the game how you feel should be played. Leave the griefers to grief each other.

-

Curiosity; how often would you say you would be attacked by a Jet when doing CEO/MC/Export work?

Wrong question.

How do you take down a jet when doing free roam missions?

EVERYHING else you brought up can be easily avoided.. or battled with. Meaning you have a chance.

A jet.. you have no chance (during missions). And you will fight back.. after they destory the cargo/vehicle. At that point who cares how long it takes for anything.. sh*ts already f*cked.

Why can't you take down a jet during Free Roam Mission?

The only difference between a FRMission and normal FR is you have a red icon which is no different to a white player icon.

Bit ludicrous to say there is no chance to take down the jet.
