GTA Lag

I recently tried playing GTA on my Windows 10 laptop but the game is super laggy when i try and play. I tried playing with the resolution but it I try and use any of the 32 bit resolutions all I get is a black screen? Is there some kind of patch or work around to get the game to play properly? GTA 2 works just fine on my computer? Thanks you!

Are you playing the Windows version of the game? If so, then I suggest using Toshiba-3's Max Pack. That pack uses the DOS version of the game. See if the lag is there or not.

I was playing on windows, the version downloaded from steam. That one runs perfectly for me and I was able to overwrite the steam files so I can still launch it from steam and use the over-lay. I also gained the London expansions! Thank you so much! Not sure why it wasn't working with the original file.
